Sorry not sorry for all my Enfys posts. I'm just trying to occupy myself and not think about the fact that "Solo" isn't coming out on video for another FRIGGIN TWO MONTHS AND I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN WAIT THAT LONG.
I finally finished this! I saw solo almost a month ago haha. I WANT MORE OF THE REBEL PIRATE.

You guys wouldnāt mind if I did a full week of Darth Maul fan art, would you? And what better way to kick it off (I know Iām late for Monday), than with this killer photo by SgtBananas!
Iām said it multiple times, I think Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace was one of the most badass, imaginative character designs ever, but unfortunately, also one of the most underused villains ever. I was happy to see him return in Clone Wars and Rebels, but getting that glimpse of Ray Park reprising the role in Solo was an absolute thrill!Ā

Excuse the essay, but Iāve wanted to write about this for a while:
I used to consider myself an Atheist ā¢. I was a raging āactivistā about it too. Then I got to college, took some classes in religion, philosophy, heard/read some critiques of the New Atheist position, had some conversations with real-life human beings. I didnāt have a ācome to Godā moment, and I didnāt become an adherent to any religion, but my viewpoint shifted significantly.
In high school for some reason I thought being a vocal atheist made me more intelligent. I locked myself in the atheist echobox for a while; consumed podcasts, books, blogs, YouTube videos, I even considered founding a chapter of the SSA at my college when I first got there (which would have been an AWFUL idea in retrospect).
I may still be an atheist by definition of my personal beliefs, but I no longer associate myself with The Atheists ⢠[E.G. the four horsemen; Dennet, Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris] for a whole slew of reasons. I think they have some interesting things to say, but theyāre pretty damn toxic about other things, and huge assholes to bat.
I now know (and perhaps always knew but was unwilling to admit) that religion has a strong basis in philosophy, it can do a lot of good in the world, religious people can be both good or bad (just like non-religious people) but theyāre far more often good.
My own belief is this: In my own personal experience and within my own personal realm of knowledge, I have seen or learned nothing satisfactorily convincing to me that there is any larger power at work, and do not find faith a personally satisfactory grounds for accepting claims. I think the existence of a larger power in the universe is an unanswerable or very difficult to answer question and I donāt think I personally have enough evidence to put forward any tentative answer.
I still hold my opinions about things, but thatās all they are. Opinions. Iāll engage in civilized, respectful discussion, but Iām not going to shovel them down your throat and expect you to swallow then make fun of you when you cannot or will not.
Treat others the way you wish to be treated in return, and never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself. I just want everyone to get along and for all of the fighting, arguing, and killing to stop. So long as theyāre not hurting anyone, let people live the lives theyāre most comfortable living and let them come to their own conclusions on things. There are so many huge problems to solve in the world right now, all this arguing is getting nobody anywhere and just creates more problems and division between people. We need to put more work into understanding each other rather than tearing each other down.
Most importantly (my golden rule):
Try not to be a jackass.
Thank you for sharing that "essay," @sentinel-of-dreams - as a Christian, I appreciate atheists like you and having you in my life more than I can say. I've got quite a few who, while we may disagree on some fairly fundamental concepts, I know they would give me the shirt of their back, and I them, because it's just down right stupid to draw battle lines.
I would also ADD to this meme that the same goes for us Christians, because I've known a LOT of Christian asshats. Usually from the John MacArthur/Ray Comfort/Kirk Cameron/Ken Hamm crowd - though not all of them are like that - where the arrogance is just so... well... NOT what we're supposed to be like. I can barely even hear the names of those four dudes without baring my teeth. And while I mentioned four names above, unfortunately we have WAY more than just FOUR "horsemen."
Humility, I believe, is the most powerful tool any and all of us can wield. And it's something I feel like we need now more than ever.
I feel there is so much we can learn from each other - hell, I know quite a number of atheists who act more like "Christians" than Christians do (and the reverse is probably also true in some cases ;) ). I feel we need each other, in some ways, to make ourselves better.
Let's Take a Minute To Appreciate Enfys Nest
WARNING: āSOLOā SPOILERS
Can we just take a moment (or a thousand moments) to acknowledge and appreciate how fricken awesome Enfys Nest is?
Bringing a vibroaxe to a gunfight? No fricken problem. This bad-ass mother-lover comes flyinā in, bats your blaster bolts away like taking a baseball bat against a bunch of defenseless baby mynocks. Oh, and not only that, but she fricken cuts your gun in half. So⦠thatās a thing thatāll happen if you try to facedown this baddest-ass character.
Surrounded by enemies? No frakkinā problem. Give her a vibroaxe and the high ground, sheāll do a friggin flying-Gandalf-maneuver and knock everyone the heck over while all her buddies come in to clean up the rest.
She is absolutely positively among my favoritest characters. I want a book. I want a comic book. I want a movie. I want to see her in "Forces of Destiny." Whatever will allow me to see more of this baddest-assery.
If you're not a "manbaby" THEN DON'T ASSOCIATE YOURSELF WITH THEM
Something that really karks my balls (to borrow an expression from my sister) is when Rian Johnson or just about anybody who liked The Last Jedi says anything about the "manbabies" (a.k.a. the small sect of the fandom that is racist/misogynistic/homophobic, etc.), so many guys jump on them with comments about how they feel personally attacked (because they didn't like the movie)... Even though Rian Johnson has said over and over and over again again that he is not referring to everybody who didn't like the movie. I don't think he could make that any clearer. These men who didn't like the movie complain about being falsely accused. But the fact is, THEY are the ones associating themselves with the "manbabies" by assuming they are being targeted. If you really AREN'T those things, then either just move on, OR say something like, "While I didn't like TLJ, I think what the way the (actual) manbabies act is deplorable!" I would venture to say that IF YOU FEEL INSULTED OR TARGETED BY THE TERM "MANBABY" THEN MAYBE IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU. Or, at the very least, that is exactly what people are going to think ABOUT you. It's like the people who feel targeted by phrases like "Black Lives Matter." IF YOU'RE NOT RACIST THAN DON'T TAKE THAT PHRASE PERSONALLY BECAUSE IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU.
I'm sure this will all fall on deaf ears because that's just how America is now, apparently. That IS what America IS. Everybody wants to be heard, but nobody wants to listen. Also everyone feels threatened by everything. If you ask me, THE WHOLE DAMN COUNTRY is one giant ass snowflake.

LETāS SHOW SOME LOVE FOR THIS WONDERFUL HAS-NO-BUSINESS-BEING-THIS-LIKEABLE WOMAN, Kelly Marie Tran! I felt so much like Rose Tico was me if I were plopped into a Star Wars movie, and Kelly just put such a lovable energy into her performance, you could feel how excited she was to be a part of āStar Wars.ā āWeāre going to win this war, not by fighting what we hate⦠but saving what we love.ā
