This is a huge misconception for regular Americans. When the government uses the phrase “undocumented” they’re using it incorrectly because if they were truly undocumented then they would’ve be in system. However these immigrants are in the system and they pay taxes, file tax returns and get no benefits that citizens and legal residents get. They also get to see ICE showing up at their doors because the government has their addresses. “Undocumented” just means “without papers,” i.e. a social security card, valid visa, etc. They’re still on databases and whatnot, they just don’t have the documentation that allows them to reap the benefits.

shit these things are hard enough to get for natural born citizens.  I am American-born and disabled and I can’t even get Medicaid until my Social Security case is settled, despite having loads of medical documentation saying I am unable to work because I am chronically ill.

I work for a social services non-profit and THIS. If you see an undocumented immigrant getting any kind of help through an agency like mine, THE MONEY IS NOT COMING FROM THE GOVERNMENT. Let me repeat that: THE MONEY IS NOT COMING FROM THE GOVERNMENT. It is coming from private donations and grants, and the last I heard, people could give their money to anybody they damn well please. This is honestly so disgusting. If I had stumbled upon this a few years ago I probably would of taken tips but now it's just sad. I'm in no way trying to shade the people who make these types of post because they're sick and that's not their fault.
