So claiming jensen is homophobic because he played his character well? Dean, who's father showed him no love, made him a solider, made him believe he was too soft for the job, made Dean feel like shit anytime he showed a hint of love and compassion. Dean, who has loved and lost all those he loved. Dean, now faced with cas telling him that if he experiences true happiness the empty will take him forever, and then proceeding to do the very thing that will kill him to save dean, and sam, and jack.
Not only was he in shock at the confession, but the reveal of the deal cas made, the analyst of his self and how he sees himself verses how cas sees him. Having it told to him that the very thing his dad scolded him for reprimanded him for is the thing cas fell for. That it is the reason cas learned to love and feel. Then seconds after cas said I love you the empty opened up, death came in, and cas tossed him aside to be taken.
What did you want from jensen/dean? For him to latch onto cas and scream that he loves him? For him to shove his tongue down cas's throat to show he loves him?
Jensen played dean as dean is. Closed off, scared to show his feelings. He saw what cas was doing, understood it. But above all he understood what will happen in that moment of confession. He was gonna lose cas again. He was gonna lose someone else he loved and cared for because he couldn't do what he set out to do. Because once again the chips were stacked against him. His end was written out and unknowingly he played his part as it was written. Again. Now, without anything up his sleeves, no way out, no way to turn the tides. He's faced with cas making the sacrifice play to save him, to save the world, to give them a fighting chance.
He's shocked. He's pissed. He's mourning. He's going through the scene in his head, second by second. Trying to find something he could have done to save cas, to stop what was happening. To stop the empty.to stop death. To keep cas here with him.
And he comes up with nothing. He can't face sam cause he knows why sam is calling. Everyone is gone. And he failed. He failed to kill death. he failed to save not just cas but all their friends and family. But in that moment all that mattered was cas was gone and dean is lost. He feels defeated. He feels that this truly is the end.
And goddamn it jensen ackles played it perfectly. The soft, "don't do this" don't make this play. Don't leave me. Don't leave us. The fighting to keep it in. The broken stare. The sobs. The phone vibrating on the floor as he sobs. Jensen ackles broke my heart and made me feel dean's pain. So stop with this bullshit that he's homophobic cause you didn't get you heart felt fanfic style love confession. This isn't fan fic. This is supernatural. This was done the only was supernatural could have done it. With pain, and blood, and call back. There is no happy endings in supernatural. And if you believe other wise. You've been watching a different show.
Also jensen not wanting to discuss a ship that he didn't think was real cause he played a straight character from the start doesn't make him homophobic. A ship that has been turned into shipping him and Misha. That had become harassing him about it. That has lead to people harassing his wife. Calling his marriage a fake and a cover up. Bitch if I was led to believe my character loved women so much he sleeps with them at any chance he got and then had fans who just watch the show but don't read the script don't have the back story like he does telling him "nah bitch dean gay/bi" I'd say no to. I'd tell you what I know about my own character that I've been playing and learning about since day one. And that doesn't mean he's homophobic or is disgusted with the ship. Just means he has an understanding of dean that we can only hope for given that we just watch the show and only get to see what they put in the scene. God only knows how much he's questioned kripke about dean, and his past, and his ideals, ect.... Jensen knows dean. We're just acquaintances with dean.
Jensen isn't homophobic just cause you didn't get your fanfic ending.
