Trezéni.

For the clothing, I decided on a triadic colour scheme based on the following tertiary colours: red-orange, yellow-green, and blue-violet. After more experimentation, I settled on the specific pigments: scarlet lake, emerald green, and anthraquinone blue. (I coloured Trezéni’s eyes after this.) I think this palette worked out well because Trezéni’s dominant colour, yellow-orange, relates to blue-violet as a compliment; blue-violet is the glue that holds his palette. I also used a high-value yellow-orange to add light to his shirt.

TIL to establish value before applying colour. I know it’s basic stuff, but the most formal training I’ve had in drawing was a “basic design” high school elective that didn’t actually teach any principles of design? Looking back at it I’m pretty sure the only reason the administration even bothered funding that class was because it provided an opportunity for for-profit art colleges to advertise to us. Yeah, we spent class time looking over those glossy brochures.

Joke’s on them, because I can’t even afford a higher education! ( ╥ヮ╥)
