solveig:
Solveig couldn’t help but laugh at the comment. She supposed there were worse people in the world to be so easily swayed by than Aily, and she certainly wasn’t complaining. “It is a date. I cannot imagine a better way to spend my next Halloween.” She doubted the girl would remember the invitation by this time next year, but there was no harm in humoring her now.
Chuckling, Solveig fell into step beside beside Theo on the path down to the village. “So, Ms. Aily, what did you ask for for your birthday?” she asked, turning her head up to look at the girl.
“Whoo hoo!” Aily cheered, lifting her hands high and pinwheeling when she started to lose her balance, only to be straightened by her father. “Thanks, Papa.”
Patting his daughters foot as he continued to cart her on his shoulders, Theo grinned. “Oof, loaded question,” he muttered with a wink Sol’s way and let his daughter start.
“Ooh, ooh! A pony, new books, these really pretty pink sneakers, um.. um.. a puppy too! Even if it’s a toy puppy, I think I could do a great job as a puppy mama. Don’t you?”
