“Good.” He pauses, stares at the communicator for a second, then shakes his head. ”With haste, Sulu. Time’s a wastin’. An’ I don’t want t’be the one responsible for boothin’ you.”

Like he’d hesitate to do it, though. McCoy is not above teaching his staff a lesson, especially when he’s questioned—

Which he definitely heard in Sulu’s voice.

He grits his teeth, scowling, and flips the communicator shut without so much as a by your leave. The first rule of Medbay is don’t ask questions. And Sulu should know that better than anyone.

Really, he’d expected better.

"Yes, sir--" The girl winced. He didn't sound angry, but he also didn't sound happy.

The smart part of her brain was just going to drop off the box and completely forget it existed. However- the curious and somewhat stupid part of her brain really wanted to know what was in the box.

As Kaoru walked, she gave the box a gentle once over, looking for anything that might allow her to open it without him knowing. At least she was smart enough not to shake it.

Before she knew it she was standing in front of the Medbay doors. There was no more stalling- Taking a half step forward, the large doors slid open and the young doctor stepped inside.

"Boss?"

Kaoru tensed up, when she heard his voice. Letting out a slow breath, the brunette placed a hand over her communicator, balancing the box in her free hand. "Boss." She replied quietly as she continued on to the Medbay.

"I do, sir, but-" The young doctor paused. Dont ask any questions-- "I will have it in your office shortly."

There are few people on the ship that Kaoru will take blind orders from. Her Captain, his first officer, her brother, and the ships CMO, her boss. Today's orders came directly from her brother, Hikaru. Deliver a box to Doctor McCoy-- don't open it, don't ask what it is, just take it to him. He was very adamant about the not asking any questions part. That struck her as a little strange, but it seemed simple enough, so she complied.

The young brunette wasn't particularly excited about seeing her boss, but knew it couldn't be avoided for long. In all honesty, she was surprised shed managed to avoid him as long as she had. It had been almost a week since she'd seen him last. Though, their last encounter wasn't one she was eager to repeat. The bruises still hadn't quite faded.
