Using Unconventional Paint Colors
Painting a room in a unique or daring color can change the overall impression of a room. If there is limited furniture, little to no windows or small square footage, a striking color can make the room look larger and more complete. Pale pinks, periwinkles, and mint may look strange in the can but will appear luxurious on your walls.
Benjamin Moore Shadow, while dark, is a great middle point between favorite gray and a more ambitious purple. Use this in hallways and foyers for a calming effect. Poised Taupe by Sherwin Williams is a top-seller and serves as a neutral point between gray and brown. Use it in virtually any room of your house. Shades of green are growing in popularity throughout the home. I am a fan of Behr’s Balanced because it is just that. The muted green is earthy and invokes immediate feelings of relaxation.
Avoid anything too bright or loud in your bedroom. You want something that will allow for relaxation. Reds and Oranges are a no-go as the dominant color. Stick to conventional neutrals, blues, and greens.
. If you want to experiment with unconventional colors, start by painting your accents in that color. Get used to the uniqueness of it, before committing to covering your entire walls in it.
