//1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
her full name is ‘kaganichi aoki’. her first name roughly means blooming/budding day from what i’ve gathered, and her last name translates to ‘tree’. besides the obvious flower motif for my OC, her biggest trope is finding herself and finally blooming through her dormant seed.
2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?
the petal’s edge is her league title i guess, it’s what people would call her having garnered attention for being small and pretty like a flower, but swift and sharp like a blade. little princess is what her older brother used to call her. they’re of nobility and he just likes spoiling her for what little time they had together. this also explains her selfish/snobby attitude from time to time. last title is the fickle orchid, a title given to her by her father and those that took care of her in the abode. a politician’s daughter with noble blood, she could be seen as a perfect candidate for, say, an arranged/diplomatic marriage (orchids are often given as gifts and are a symbol of nobility, wealth, and luxury). but because of her poor health growing up, she was undesirable/unfit for her role (…they’re also kind of hard to take care of and are particular about their environment). they would never call her that in person, of course.
3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
good is pretty relative. kaganichi grew up in a large home with money; money was never a problem, food was always available, education was above average etc. she was frail most of her life, however, so her activities were restricted and she was monitored nearly 24/7. while she wasn’t necessarily physically alone, she was a lonely child when her brother wasn’t around.
fond memories will almost always involve her brother, be it story time, birthdays, small strolls outside of home, or even just bickering at one another. a large cherry blossom tree, a small koi pond, and other plants and flora were the center piece of her residency; her favorite time of year was spring, when the little garden colored her small world.
bad memories would include the time she was being dumb and reckless and cut her eye, and when she had attempted suicide.
4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?
kaganichi’s relationship with her father teeters toward bad. her mother died during her childbirth, so mr. aoki is particularly protective of his only daughter (and last remnant of his wife). that said, he’s a busy man and a much better politician than he is a father, finding it better to have many fleeting caretakers look after kaganichi than himself. i suppose good memories would be when he remembered her birthday and had gifts sent to her room– even better if he sent them personally. bad memories would include her last image of him, which was of him going all crazy-insane from his son’s death.
5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?
kaganichi had a brother, and his name is ’ame aoki’. as you’d probably guess, kaganichi had a more than amiable relationship with her older brother: he was her best friend and true family. though he’s declared dead, she still believes that he’s somehow looking after her and making sure she’s safe. //
