Okay so, I really need to tell someone about this fic before I lose my mind😂😂
Long story short, I decided to write this one as a surprise gift for my friend and in classic fashion what was supposed to be a few thousand words is now 21k and rising and has taken over my life, I will either finish it or it will finish me.
It is a Disney Zombies fic, set 3ish years after the last movie - a bit more serious than canon (I feel like that is my brand at this point) and angsty (definitely my brand at this point) and I started out not knowing if it would be good because I’ve never written those characters before and now I’ve become invested. Like once this one is finished, I will write everything else too😅
I wasn’t sure if I was gonna upload it but I kind of want to because I am unable to finish writing anything and not put it out into the world so we'll see✨ I will leave a little snippet under the cut because it’s been three months and the only person in my life who knows these characters is the only person I cannot show this to, but I need someone else to see this at this point😂
“Hello,” Nova said with a smile as she untangled herself from Zed. “Love what you’ve done with the place by the way.”
What Addison and Zed had done with the place ever since Nova had last seen it was nothing, but he appreciated the sentiment either way. Even if he was still half asleep. “Thank you,” he said with a loopy grin.
“Don’t mind him, he’s still trying to remember what day it is,” Addison said, though not unkindly. “Not a morning person.”
“That makes two of us,” Victor said, pushing his sunglasses on top of his head as he walked through the door, a bag slung over his shoulder. “You were asleep five minutes ago, how did you run up here?”
“I wasn’t!” Nova defended herself as he leaned in to hug Addison. “I was just… listening to the music very carefully.”
“And drooling all over the window,” Victor added with a lovesick smile Zed was too familiar with. He pulled him into a hug as well just as Nova gasped in offense.
“I am a warrior, I don’t drool,” she said, standing up a bit straighter as if to punctuate her statement.
“Okay,” Addison cut in, still pretty clearly excited to have them both visiting after so long. “There’s breakfast ready and you can tell us all about your trip here,” she said, motioning them towards the kitchen. Blood fruit was really the only thing of any nutritional value to them, but everything else still tasted exciting enough. Zed was reassured they’d come over well stocked enough to not starve.
Nova and Victor proceeded inside, already familiar with their place. Addison was about to follow when Zed wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back towards his chest. She fell with a surprised little gasp, though she didn’t really fight it. Zed leaned down to kiss the side of her head, both of them just standing there for a second longer, melting into each other.
He eventually pulled back so they could follow the others inside. Addison glanced over at him with a soft little smile, somehow perfectly put together at 6 am while he probably looked like a mess. Still, she stared at him like he was everything he needed to be. Everything she could ask for. Same way he’d been looking at her all these years. Zed couldn’t really believe how lucky he was sometimes.
There was still a smile on his face as he leaned down to kiss her, properly this time. The kids would be fine, three years and they were still in their honeymoon phase. If anything they were doing them a favor.
Pulling back again, he couldn’t help the least serious serious expression taking over his face. “Saturday,” he said.
Addison snorted, her whole face lighting up. “Come on,” she said, taking hold of his hands, pulling him with her inside. “We’re not being good hosts.”
Zed wanted to argue that there was probably nothing they could do that would offend Nova and Victor, but he let her lead him to the kitchen. Breakfast sounded pretty good at 6 am.

Headcanons for the Phoebe, Max and Chloe siblings trio?

Okay, so, I like to think that Chloe secretly actually looks up to them when it comes to all the superhero stuff. Something I really feel has been missing from Undercover is more moments where they point out that Max and Phoebe are actually very skilled at being superheroes and have been doing this far longer than Chloe has.
They've been leading the task force for years and are canonically one of the best teams the Hero League has. They are a bit chaotic sure, but they are supposed to be well respected in the superhero world. All of that to say, they have the skills and Chloe - eager to be a good superhero herself - must recognize that. On the other hand she is also a teenager who thinks her oldest siblings are kinda dumb sometimes - in her defense, that is also true - so she would never really say that out loud.
I like to think though that she tries to take things from both of them even though she complains about their lack of communication sometimes.
At the same I think she sees them as a safety net. Not in a bad way, she is still supposed to be in training and they have been dealing with a lot but I think even if she doesn't realize it, there's definitely some kind of security in the back of her head that if something goes wrong it's gonna be okay because Max and Phoebe can fix it like they always do. She does her best and that's good, but maybe sometimes things don't work out, but that is okay because she's not alone.
And I think that creates a great juxtaposition with Phoebe who was so zealous over getting everything right and perfect while she was Chloe's age, a teenager still training, who couldn't allow anything to go wrong because she didn't think she could afford it even though Hank and Barb were right there, ready to help.
Which brings me to my next point- Max and Phoebe are pretty self aware about their own personal issues and don't want Chloe to grow up with the same insecurities they did. They're still trying to move past certain behaviors and are kinder to each other, but they definitely made a point to not turn Chloe into an obsessive teenage superhero, fighting for their approval. They know what tore them apart in the first place, so if they see Chloe repeating behaviors they recognize, they try to get ahead of it and reassure her she's doing well even if she doesn't ask for it. Their main goal is not to make sure she's a great superhero, but to make sure she's happy with whatever she chooses to do.
Just Max and Phoebe being good guardians is important to me

Summary (Chapter 5)
“You know, kids, back when your mom and I were constantly on the field-” Hank started to say because he really couldn’t help himself and maybe they stood to learn something from them still.
“Oh my God, dad, not another history lesson, please,” Max said with a groan which was a pretty familiar reaction, but Hank never lost hope that something would drive home eventually.
“Maybe you’d argue less if you listened to someone else for a change,” he said.
“I’m pretty sure we argue more when people don’t let us do what we do,” Max insisted.
“And I am pretty sure we wouldn’t argue at all if you did what I said for once and check the progress again,” Phoebe said as she raised her head from her tablet, staring at her brother and enunciating every word clearly.

Summary (Chapter 4)
“The Hero League called to ask about our progress and Max let them know that we would bring our target in by the end of the week. Same target we have not really seen yet.”
“We know where he is,” Max insisted.
“We hope we do,” Phoebe corrected.
“We’ve almost gotten through to the original footage of the cameras.”
“But not yet,” Phoebe said again.
“It’s Monday!”
“There’s no reason to put us on a clock!”
“Okay!” Barb stepped in once more before this could escalate. She was pretty used to it by now. Max and Phoebe clashed on a lot of things, but they’d learned to work together at some point. She wasn’t surprised they’d moved out here for the mission though she did wonder if it was going well sometimes. Chloe would roll her eyes and say she was the voice of reason. Then again Chloe was thirteen and she would say the same thing if she was still living back in Hiddenville with Hank and Barb.
Tecnically speaking, Pheobe is right when she says she was a better villain than Max, considering what she was able to do when she was evil
Oh definitely, I agree a hundred percent.
Honestly I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t think Max was ever truly evil. He spent three seasons trying to become the best supervillain and then turned around and chose his family and friends every time it mattered. The one time he really went off the rails was at the end of 'Secret Revealed' after everything that happened with Phoebe, but when she made him face what he was actually trying to do, he immediately changed sides.
Phoebe went from 0 to 100 because she was brainwashed by Dark Mayhem's powers and basically became him. She could not be reasoned with and would have destroyed everyone if Max hadn’t found a way to take the powers away.
What she said is true, but it always made me sad because she's the only one who knows why Max decided to become a supervillain in the first place. He told her he didn’t want to compete with her so he decided to play a different game where he could get the number one spot and Phoebe brings it up again a season later saying that he decided to be a supervillain because he was scared of failing and that whole era was basically Max's insecurities about not being good enough taking root and trying to save himself from what he thought was certain disappointment. All this to say that it always felt to me that that comment was a bit unnecessary, like saying 'oh actually the one thing you thought you were good at, well, I’m better than you at this too'.
I know it was a throwaway comment I was never supposed to look too much into and I’m all for their banter/bickering, I just wish she’d said something else.

Summary (Chapter 3)
“Can you narrow the building down? Max and I can take it from there.”
“I thought you wanted to murder him?” Billy asked. That’s how they’d left things last time, Billy was there. Maybe they’d talked about it and the murder had been postponed. Did Max and Phoebe ever talk to each other outside the mission reports and the arguing? Billy wasn’t a hundred percent sure. They must. Nora doubted it, but Billy figured they must, right?
“Yeah, once a week, what does that have to do with this?” Phoebe asked back, looking at him with confusion written all over her face.
Okay, Billy had to focus here. He knew he wasn’t the best at reading situations or figuring things out. It was nice when someone was there to provide the necessary commentary on conversations so he could follow along and it was even better when people were very clear with what they wanted to say. But Nora wasn’t there right now and he was pretty sure Phoebe was also not following along with the conversation.
