Reconnecting ||Chris & Faye
Chris stepped forward setting the plate of food down as his eyes met hers, the individual pieces of food spelling out the words ‘I’m sorry.’ There was a frown on his face, and with a heavy heart he sat across from her. “Before we start eating I have a few things to say.” He forced a smile onto a morose face. “I’m sorry I’ve been distant, hell even nonexistent. I lost my way, this fog that we’ve kind of entered into. I vaguely remember that we were somewhere else.” He sighed breaking eye contact for a second, “But that’s no excuse. I love you Faye, I know you are probably mad at me, and you have every right to be. I’m even mad at me, but since I’ve been figuring this all out I’m here and will always be here with you.” He put his hand on the table open hoping she’d take it.

Labyrinth || Faye x Chris

Chris stopped and blinked at her a few times not sure how to respond to the question, he was wrestling the creature that laid subdued next to him and didn’t have time to measure the hole. “Well ummm…” he began to say, his face looking very long and confused. “I neglected to measure it, I had other issues to deal with.” He said gesturing to the animal that appeared to physically roll its eyes at the two of them.
Faye sighed. “Give me two minutes, then come after me. I can spell myself a little more air if I need to but it won’t last long.” She looked pointedly between the two men. Carrington, strangely enough, looked more stricken about what Faye was about to do than Chris did. Faye frowned at him, but made sure she caught his eye.
His gaze didn’t waver, but he gave a minute shake of his head that told her he didn’t think she should be doing this. A raised eyebrow and a huff was her only response. You lost the privilege of caring about what I do a long time ago…
Wading further into the water, Faye took several deep breathes before diving into the freezing murky water. The tunnel was right there along the wall, large and round and eerily free of algae or plantlife of any kind. She pulled herself through, moving quickly but cautiously, and to her great surprise, the tunnel was only about twenty feet long. She surfaced on the other side, taking a deep breath as her teeth chattered.
And found herself right back where she’d started, looking at the backs of the two men on the dias.
When Carrington looked at Faye and she looked back Chris snapped his fingers, “You sure are a quiet one now.” He said standing up, thinking about making his move and killing the necromancer once and for all. But it was interrupted by the sounds of something breaking the surface of the water.
“Well that’s a no go then.” He sighed looking at Faye and coming over to give her a hand out of the pool of water.
Carrington merely stared at Chris for a long moment. “Trust me, Christopher. I’ve got plenty to say. Just not to you.” He licked a spot of blood from his lip and turned at the sound of something surfacing.
Faye took Chris’ hand and let him pull her out of the water. She shivered and shook her head. The tunnel was out. “There has to be another way…” she said, shivering.
With a sigh, Carrington pushed to his feet. He’d dried himself with a simple spell while he waited, and now he did the same for Faye, sweeping a hand over her from head to toe. She felt the long remembered tingle of his magic, and it made her uneasy even as she gave him a nod of thanks. The Necromancer returned it and stepped away, giving Chris a pointed look before lifting his eyes to the walls.
"Soooo ominous." He scoffed at Carrington, and rolled his eyes securely filing him under the douche bag category in his mind, as if he wasn't already there.
Chris looked at the gap, "Faye. You can make that." He said as he took a position at the outer rim of stand-able land. "Up and over, just like we used to do." Chris spread his legs widening his stance and putting two hands down to catch her foot. She would know exactly what do here.

“That maybe true in some areas. However in this case you would be incorrect.” Something didn’t set right when the woman in front of him said that she was unaware that this wasn’t public land. His jaw did clench however when she blatantly laughed at him and seemed not to take this particular incident seriously.
Chris stepped forward so she could see his face, it was void of all emotion as well as even the slightest hint of human decency. “I suggest you tell me exactly who you are, and why you’re hear and where your back up is before thing get rather unpleasant for you miss.” Just as he finished his sentence a human scream came from not that far away. “Well never mind then, I guess they’ll just tell me what you two are doing out here, I can be very persuasive.”
With his last word he began to head in the direction that the sound had came from, almost as if he was now skipping along through the woods.
Elizabeth still wasn’t convinced. More importantly though standing here talking to this guy, whoever he was, was preventing her from doing her actual job. She was about to respond to his questions and reiterate that she wasn’t law enforcement. Which she thought ought to be obvious since she hadn’t shoved a badge in his face yet.
But then a scream pierced the night air. Elizabeth felt her blood run cold and she swore under her breath. The sinking feeling settled quickly in her stomach, that was more than likely related to her case. This wouldn’t be the first serious injury related to adultery or the last.
Elizabeth moved as quickly towards the sound as she could, ignoring the man so convinced the woods belonged to him. In a clearing she found the “gentleman” she’d been tailing, his mistress and his wife. The wife was holding a gun and the mistress was already bleeding. “For fuck’s sake Jane,” she said, stepping into the clearing with no fear of being shot, “What part of you paying me to fix this was confusing to you?”
Chris stopped immediately when he saw the gun, he eye balled it before stepping forward not wanting to agitate the woman who was holding it. After a moment of contemplating what to do he took a step forward, "You should put that down." He said in a very stern voice which only prompted Jane to raise the gun and point it at him.
Almost instantly a small tendril of roots shot out from the ground and wrapped the woman's arms and pulled them downward making her a very small threat. "Soooo you guys know each other?" He asked looking at the other people in the area one lying on the ground bleeding.

theplantsdontlie:
“These woods are mine?” He pointed off behind him, “The house back that way is mine.” Her comment about her doing her job was very unsettling to him, a woman taking pictures on his property could possibly only mean one thing to him. He took a few steps forward getting a better look at her, “You know you need a warrant to do that right?” His voice was very matter of fact, “This is illegal trespassing and a breach of rights by law enforcement.”
“I wasn’t of the understanding anyone owned the woods. They’re public land,” Elizabeth replied. Growing up in a city though she’d never really understood the concept considering any patch of land yours. There were parks in Boston, sure, but those belonged to everyone. The woods therefore she thought of much the same.
But Elizabeth couldn’t help but laugh as the man accused her of breaching rights as law enforcement. “I’m not law enforcement,” she replied, still amused. There was a tug at her gut, considering that Ephram had offered her a consulting job at the station before deciding that she had rejected it out of hand. But that wasn’t important at the moment. And even if she had taken the job Elizabeth knew she would’ve chaffed against any rules that they had placed on her. “And I’m not here to take pictures of you. Otherwise I’d already be gone,” she added for good measure.
"That maybe true in some areas. However in this case you would be incorrect." Something didn't set right when the woman in front of him said that she was unaware that this wasn't public land.
