There is something so underrated and life-changing about finding the kind of motivation that works for you. Seriously. I went from struggling to do anything with any level of consistency to doing so much in a way that worked for me.

The solution that changed my life? Letting fandom fuel my interests.

I don't really know why, but there's something so impactful about interest-linking. I was always passionate about these things, but I never took the plunge to get into them on my own. It wasn't until passion and interest overrode my anxiety and hesitation that things really, really started to change.

I went to my first ornithology and bird conservation events because of a Star Wars fanfiction, and I stayed into birding because of Hunter from the Owl House. I try to garden and learn about plants because of Fern from Adventure Time.

I take Math and Computer Science classes (which I'm passionate about but bad at) because Tim Drake is a fucking nerd. I'm a Writing Consultant and an A+ English and Writing student because Jason Todd would've wanted it that way.

I go running regularly because Linked Universe Warriors could probably run circles around me. I'm learning to rock climb because Linked Universe Wild is bolting up those cliff faces. I'm a fucking blacksmith apprentice because of Linked Universe Four and Legend.

I'm not saying that doing things just because a character would do them will help you out. What I am saying is that if you want to do something but struggle to take that first step or to keep taking the steps, maybe try being absolutely obsessed with a character who also does those things.

It...just might completely change your life. At least, that's what it did for me.
