went to haskins with mum, mum gf and grandma! got a plant and i got a wooden tiger!!! super happy

used my aac lots (keep forgetting to show a picture of my robot out in public) am getting super comfortable around people and in public! i get some weird looks carrying a tablet but once people hear me talk with it they kinda understand and ignore it

i get dominos tonight!!!

Hi hi! Here’s some progress from scratch of my AAC device. I’ve been trying to work on layouts better and I’ve also made lots of folders from scratch because AUS Avaz AAC is a little confusing & repetitive.

First page: Home

Second page: Time

Third page: clock time

Fourth page: animals

Also don’t mind the scattered symbols on the home page, i just didn’t bother changing them yet.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but today’s journey was a café where I was really confident in communicating with my device. The drink was only okay, but I am always proud of myself when I can participate in the back and forth of doing something like ordering in the first place!

I genuinely believe if you just hate talking and want to never speak again, that's fine. If you decide you want to use AAC for the rest of your life for any reason, that's your prerogative.

If you wake up one day and think "I don't feel like speaking", you deserve access to AAC and accommodation. If you wake up one day and think "I'd like to speak today", you deserve to not be questioned. If you want to switch between speaking and AAC in the middle of the day, you deserve that choice.

We put such a weird emphasis on the idea that speech should always be the end goal and everyone should have this and that amount of speech. It doesn't matter. Do what makes you feel comfortable and happy.

settings - picture grid - change navigation side bar - scroll down - favourites - change folder and choose which folder you want it linked to
