"I’m sorry that you were brought to London under such circumstances, it’s usually not so bad, as far as I’ve been here. My family freaked out so bad over the bombing… Are you authorized to talk about it? You sound official. I still don’t get what happened. The news has been talking about terrorism, but… really?"

I'm authorized to speak about it, yes. You can tell your family that the situation is under control, they might feel better to know that. But as for any signs of terrorism, I'm not authorized to tell you the level of the threat since it is being dealt with currently. I know you can tell them you're safe here. How long ago did you arrive here and from where? I came straight here from Brazil once I was done...

It might seem rude of me now – considering that I haven’t even introduced myself yet, but may I ask what it is that you are doing and the organization you are working for? Also, I am Reese Laurie, to finally introduce myself to you.

Traveling does sound like a benefit of what you are doing. Brazil you say? That does sound hotter than most places, especially hotter than London, considering that now fall and winter are right around the corner.

I work for the government as a sociologist in statistics. In a sense it is involved with the United Nations and it can be a bit messy depending on the area we are located in. It's not rude at all, I don't mind, but it's a pleasure to meet you, Reese. I'm Prudence O'Haire, it was rude of me not to introduce myself during this time. No one should be alone and meeting new people shouldn't be without knowing names and possible new acquaintances. 

Brazil was lovely, and I happen to love the hot weather. Knowing I'll be here for a long while just makes me feel a bit demoralized. I didn't want to be here for the cold weather. Either way, I suppose I'll find my way to adapt to everything. Do you mind if I ask you what you do for a living, Reese?

It'll be a few years before everything in London is back to normal. Or as normal as it was before all of the destruction. Tourists are upset when they see they can't take photos let alone see Big Ben. The bridge is still being fixed and now the tube system is being worked on. Honestly, I wonder why things had to come to this extent before I was called in. The other teams did little to nothing to help the situation and it should be taken care of immediately. I already put it in my report that they should be handled, this isn't how it should be when we arrive here. 

I just hope that everyone is doing all right after what happened here. But they seem to be handling it well. As for all the news on what is going on in America, I picked the team that is going there myself. If they do something wrong then I will gladly take blame for it but they should do just fine. I arrived here thinking I would have at least one week of rest before I could start working but I was very much mistaken. London really has it's own way of welcoming it's new visitors. In my case, London's new resident. I doubt I'll be leaving any time soon. I already extended the lease on the flat.

"…How informative but let’s cut through the idle chit chat shall we?" Dante pushed away from his chair and wandered around the living room, observing the decor and Prudence from the corner of his eye. What the hell stopped him from killing her right now? Nothing, it would seem. She had to be extremely trustful of the people that employed her. He guessed this wasn’t her first time with a psychopath. The Irishman suffered no delusions, he knew he was trouble. He just honestly didn’t care.

He turned on his heel and faced the woman again. He suddenly chuckled and shook his head. “Simpletons the lot of you. Can we get this over with? There’s no sense in making me wait is there?”

Prudence watched him, noting the characteristics that she saw in his mannerisms and in his tone of voice. A calm man and he caused so much chaos over a short period of time. Beware the quiet ones. That was a very accurate statement. It went for both of them, regardless of what she portrayed to anyone outside or for her objectives. Prudence had little to no connection with the outside world and wanted none. Just as quickly as she could smile and become something of a friend--an illusion of an ally--she was able to let it fade and return to her normal self. Practice indeed made perfect in that aspect of her life and it continued to progress, even now. 

"No sense in making my superior wait." Her tone was curt as she stood up, and it was in that instant that the door was opened and men came in. They walked in slowly and calmly before they came to a halt behind Dante and Prudence merely looked over at them and offered a nod of her head. "Come with us, Mr. Stone." One of the men spoke, and Prudence merely moved from her spot and pass Dante. Outside there were two vehicles--odd considering the number of men there. It only meant some where staying behind. "I'll be in the car with him." Prudence's words nearly caught one of the men off guard, his lips parting to try to sway her from doing so. 

"I will be in the vehicle with Mr. Stone." She said it once more before she walked out of the flat.

What happened is a tragedy, but in the same time it is something nobody couldn’t have prevented, or? I mean it could have happened anywhere really, in any big city. Like it did in New York during the Marathon. If I’d listen to my family an go to safety I’d end up hiding in my house or some kind of bunker, wouldn’t I?

So you travel with chaos and destruction then — If I may say so? You’re here to help with the aftermath. Have you been in New York then during the marathonbombing or during 9/11? You must see a lot, don’t you?

There was a team sent to New York during 9/11, I wasn't apart of it. I was in Iraq for that time for a few weeks leading up to the war. We left shortly afterwards due to the situation at hand. As for any bombings that occurred in the states, I never arrived for those. I only arrived in the states for brief periods of time, I prefer to do other countries that are not my own home to prevent any kind of personal bias interfering with my work. It's easy for those sort of things to rear their head in times of panic. 

I see a lot of things. Most of it isn't pleasant but there are moments when I get to see very lovely scenery. I prefer the hot weather so I was very happy in Brazil before coming here. It's much colder here than there--I'm getting used to it still.

Dante rose a brow at the phone call. He could hear a bit of what the other end was telling her. Her demeanor changed once she hung up. What was a welcoming mask had now been dropped for a more prickly personality. He took in her words carefully. She gathered intel on people considered a threat to London. Good to know.

"I see…so you believe I’m responsible for all those bumps in the night?….Hardly. In the end, all roads lead to Rome. If you think containing me will change what happens to this city…you and your people are very much mistaken. I’m a businessman, Miss O’Haire. London is where I do business. So I don’t think I’ll be leaving any time soon because…if we’re being honest here…people like you, need people like me. Every good story needs a villain or else there would be no hero and no story. You can pretend all you like that what you’re doing is for the benefit of the little people but in the end, you’ll always come back. Any time there’s a monster you can’t get rid of, every time you need weapons or information, or people to blame; you’ll come to people like me because we’re not afraid to get a little nasty. Otherwise the world would know of your corruption and inability to get the job done. Of course, I’m just twaddling right? That’s what your people are thinking right now as they listen to this conversation, Miss O’Haire, so please, spare me your rhetoric.”

Prudence just stared at the man, raising a brow curiously at his words. "Very poetic of you." She offered a small nod of her head. "But the way that the governments in countries work in regards to us is none of our concern. So if they ever have gone to you for help, that is their choice and not ours. And perhaps now they see that they shouldn't of done such a thing. It lead to us having to exist and take over for the moment. We travel. As for needing you, I imagine that is for others to think about. I see no reason for me to ever need you around. Either way, this is an objective. I fulfill them." 

Her eyes moved to the door before she looked back to him, sighing softly. "They listen. Whether they care of not is not known to me at this moment. Either they come in here themselves for you or I wait for an order. I'm sure you understand how things like these work."

"I see." Dante closed the door behind him and crossed the rest of the distance between them. He then sat in the seat she indicated. "Prudence O’Haire…alright. So I’m here. What is it that you wanted to know?" The woman looked rather unassuming but Dante knew better. He didn’t know who she was or what she was capable of or even what all of this was about. Regardless, he had been getting bored lately and this would prove to be interesting in the long run.

As he moved forward, there was a slight vibration on the coffee table. Her cell chimed, and she held up a single finger before she took the call. Act like yourself. No use in playing games with this one. Save it for the other after we have him. Prudence sighed, nodding her head silently to herself. "Yes, of course." 

"We already have the information needed. We've had it for some time. I should know, I'm the one that gathers it. Only rarely am I brought in to handle situations but as you can see from how London is currently, we all must pitch in to help." She wasn't as warm as she acted before, and she never was when it came to the people she spoke to that were targets. "Leaving is up to you. Trying to leave, that is. You've been considered a high threat to the population of London. We call it containment when we take those that are threats, but I suppose we both know the word for it is kidnapping."

The moment he felt the shock of the taser go through his system, whiting out his senses in a concentrated moment of high pain, Nick knew he’d made a mistake - he should’ve kept his eyes on her. Muscles cramping up due to the electricity having been sent through them, his knees buckles and he fell on his hands and knees letting out a groan. He shook his head, tried clearing his mind, tried fighting against it; body used to pain, though not quite this much - his neck feeling oddly numb and head feeling oddly light as the rest of him felt like it was on fire - he numbly heard more shots being fired. Not at him, though.

Letting himself roll onto his back, fingers still clamped around the butt of his own gun, Nick realised quickly enough that he would not get out of this without gaining at least a couple more orifices. The woman - whoever she was - seemed experienced enough with a gun; and his hand was still spasming slightly, not hard enough to prevent him from shooting, but hard enough to make him too slow.

He took a deep breath instead, trying to get air back into his lungs. It hurt. His heart was beating too fast and his head was spinning. Yet, Nick laughed. He laughed as he saw the look on the woman’s face, calm, professional and cold; unconcerned to his situation - so different from the nervous, fearful woman she’d been before. “Should’ve gone with my gut feeling about you,” he rasped, laughter tapering down to a chuckle.

"For someone like yourself, I am very curious as to why you didn't go with your gut." Prudence raised a brow, though it was only a moment more before she heard the sound of car coming toward them. A van. "I didn't lie about my job. I do work with statistics. However, I also use the statistics in regards to men like you and Dante. Nicholas Tillman, you are being classified as a threat and are being contained." 

The van came closer and to a stop, her eyes moving to the new men that came out and passed the injured ones she once worked with. "I'll go in the back with him." Prudence sighed, handing the gun over before she allowed the men to disarm him and get him up. She wasn't going to do a thing just yet. Instead, she just got herself into the van and seated properly. "A team will handle them, so I wouldn't touch them at all." She leaned out a bit, gesturing to the two bodies. "They're not our concern. He is."

Dante usually wore a suit. He didn’t think that’s how normal people dressed but it was how he liked to be perceived wherever he went. He was a man of business, of course. Leisure only ever took place within his domicile. He didn’t wear the suit this time. This wasn’t business. The Irishman could smell the trap from his office when he received the messages. Lucy Phanthomhive had tried to get him before, though not so directly. He thought maybe she was behind this, but it was too elaborate for her. This was something different. It made him all the more glad that he called Jack.

After he had left the note for the Welshman, Dante traveled on to the address he was given. He wore dark blue jeans and a black polo shirt. It was the most casual he had been since his days as the Butcher. Despite the obvious signs of treachery, he was curious as to who wanted him and why. If he played his card right, he could let this pass over him like he had most things.

“The door is open, Mr. Stone. You can let yourself in.”

A woman? How interesting. Most likely the bait. Dante pushed the door aside and peered in at the brunette before him. “And are you my little mystery, dear?” He replied, crossing the threshold.

"I'm hardly a mystery." Prudence chuckled, looking at the man carefully and scanning to see what he had on him. She didn't doubt that he called men already, but that wasn't for her to worry about. There were orders given and she was to act them out accordingly. "Prudence O'Haire, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." Her hand moved, gesturing to a chair as she sat down herself. "You can have a seat. Close the door behind you, I wouldn't want the neighbors to come passing by. They tend to be nosy since I'm new to this building."

With the door being closed it showed that things were set. At least, as set as they could be before they arrived to the next location. "Excuse how rude the call must have come off to you. Either way, I am very glad that you arrived here."

"Good, you brought her unharmed. Are you ready to make our trade?"

Nick had caught sight of the men coming into sight about the same time as her. He counted three, though he knew there could be more, theoretically speaking. His body was on alert, a restless energy thrumming beneath his skin; the corners of his mouth were curled down in slight disapproval, though the rest of his countenance stayed calm. Three people for a trade while he was brought here alone? Not that unusual, all things considered, but it still spelled nothing good. “Yes,” he replied curtly. 

His mind went over the options: the gun with silencer tucked in a holster under his arm, the knife in his pocket, the pepper spray inside his jacket. “Follow me, Mister Tillman,” the spokesperson of the group said genially, almost patronizingly so. 

They were about halfway into the park, hidden from sight by a cluster of trees when Nick felt the sudden shift in attitude; years of working with Dante had made him sensitive to those things - the sudden tensing of an arm, the shift of an expression. 

The first man was down with a bullet to the head before the bloke even had time to draw his own gun - or whatever he’d been about to draw. In that moment, a second guy jumped his back; Nick let himself fall backwards, landing hard on the bloke before going into a backwards roll - taking care of the second one. 

He realised his initial thought had been right - there never would’ve been a trade. But perhaps… perhaps he could still get out.

Idiots. Prudence stared at the situation and slowly the facade faded away. She was going from playing the role to being who she really was. And the men that were there were hardly anything to be proud to work with. They were children pretending to be worth more than they were. She took a step back, taking in the situation and when the gun was brought in, her eyes widened a bit in alarm. She should have been able to just take him to where they had to be, this whole park idea was just making them look like they were trying too hard to get him. 

Her own phone chimed in--and she took it out slowly to answer. "O'Haire."

End it now and a new crew will arrive to pick you and Mr. Tillman up. Handle the bafoons. They are making a spectacle of themselves. The call ended right after she heard the woman's voice on the other end. Her superior hardly ever called in times like these, but the situation at hand seemed to be embarrassing enough. Thankfully, it also served as a minor distraction. She kept things that were useful on her--like the small taser that was now in her hands. 

The item sparked before she managed to move up quickly and with enough silence on her side to put it to the man's neck and let it shock him. When the remaining men stared at her she could only hold out her hand for a gun. "I need it." She said, and one of the men didn't bother to care enough to think before putting it into her palm. 

Shots were fired. Enough to wound them while another team handled their situation. Her job wasn't to kill them. She wasn't an executioner--especially to people that she worked with. 

"Odd how small things such as this can have such a high voltage." She mused, looking down at the man before she sighed. "One spark is enough. I can't kill you. Not yet."

"And what is usually done with the sort of information you collect?" Nick asked, curiosity piqued despite the situation at hand. "Or does that depend on the respective country’s Government?" It was almost a shame, he mused, that he’d met her under these circumstances. Despite his inherent paranoia and the fact that he still didn’t quite trust this woman being completely innocent to what was going on, it was always rare to find another person with an affinity for numbers.

Then again, her apology for people taking his cat made him wonder if she wasn’t a bit dim in the head - giving her a raised brow, he simply shrugged. “The cat’s got claws - it can defend itself.” It wasn’t untrue either. Dante did have a nice set of proverbial claws; being kidnapped wasn’t going to change that, he reckoned. "As a financial accountant," He replied in the affirmative. "Drowning in balance sheets. You probably would’ve been able to hear my calls for help from all the way at the front."

His mind touched briefly on Mal; for some reason, he got the feeling he would not see the man again for a while - then again, Nick’s gut feeling didn’t always pan out. He didn’t know. He couldn’t know how this would turn out; they were only scenarios in his head, all coupled to a certain percentage of chance of them happening. Battersea Park was ahead. Nick slowed down a little. “There were are, then.”

"It depends on variety of variables. It could be handled by the government as they see fit if the number of negative actions are low enough to not worry about from our department or they simply hand it over to a larger branch that can help the situation. Some things aren't really helpful, like when the threat is moving from one location to another. Even natural disasters that happen without warning drive my numbers into the ground when in reality the amount of work needed to fix that area is minimal." Prudence sighed, there was so much more to the work than that--but he would soon see that. 

She let out a small chuckle. "I would have probably heard you from the lobby, yes." She nodded her head, eyeing the park carefully. She was sure that it was going to occur soon enough and she wondered who of her department was going to arrive to play the role as her own captor. "What are we looking for...?" She furrowed her brows, looking over at Nick for a moment before a few figures came into sight. 

"Good, you brought her unharmed." One of the voices reached out to their ears, and Prudence already knew what the situation at hand was. "Are you ready to make our trade?"

Nick didn’t have to wait for long for the woman to join him outside, dressed in something more sensible than a pair of pajamas. He noted the fact that she seemed to have nothing on her, but didn’t pay any further attention to it - after all, he hardly had a bag on his person either, all his valuables stored away inside the pocket of his trousers or the inside of his jacket. With a small nod, he set off, direction Battersea Park.

He made sure he was always aware of where the woman was walking, mindful of any abrupt movement on his or her part. “It was my cat’s,” he answered, without a trace of irony though his tone was bone dry. “My ultimate weakness. Can’t survive one day without poor ole’ Mittens. I do wonder how they found out about it; perhaps all the pictures on my desk clued them in. I mean, if these people are who I think they are…”

Nick’s face didn’t shift an inch as he spoke, he didn’t even really look at her while replying. There was a small beat, before he let out a small sigh. “Who the blood is from doesn’t concern you. All that matters is that they’re important to me.”

Dante was important. Outwardly, Nick looked like he was calm, like it didn’t touch him at all, but inside he was concerned. Angry, even. He just couldn’t let it cloud his judgment. “You’re a governmental worker, innit? Don’t think I ever saw you around the building.”

"My job is everywhere, not just in London. First time being here, actually." That was a lie--a white lie. The first visit wasn't one to count compared to the others. "I work as a sociologist in statistics. I collect the information on a population's ratio of crime to non-crime persons and my last case was in Brazil. Odd case, but I never did give out the full file on what I collected there. A lot of people have been asking for it..."  The file was given. The file was just hidden from others--to know that killers were roaming around the world to that degree would cause faith to be lost in the governments and in power. It wasn't what was needed for the moment. "I'm sorry that they took your cat." Cat. Right. They took his cat and she was there because of a stupid file she decided to withold from her superiors. That and some hot water would make them a cup of tea.

"You work in the government as well, then? I guess I would have met you in the morning if this wasn't happening.."

"I hardly had it with me," He corrected, a trace of the old mockery coming back to his voice. "It was already here. So either you should really do something about your security system, or you’re in on this entire malarkey - and whatever it is, frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” He waved his hand, dismissing her questions. “I know about as much as you do, if not less.”

Giving a small, internal sigh of relief as she agreed to come along - though he’d have no qualms about knocking her out if he had to, he really didn’t want to lug all the dead weight around all the way to Battersea Park - he moved towards the door again. Part of him wanted to simply shoot the woman’s brains out and be done with the farce; whether she was innocent or not, it would at least be a great way to get some frustration out - but the bigger part was more concerned with Dante. 

"Change. Don’t change. Go naked. Come along in a muumuu for all I care, as long as you’re quick about it." he shrugged, casting a glance over his shoulder. "I’ll wait right here until you’re ready."

She was glad he was willing to not care about what she did in regards to clothing--and even more relieved that he wasn't paranoid enough to want to watch. Though, she wasn't stupid enough to test his patience. She changed into more suitable clothes, nothing that was meant for work, but jeans and a decent shirt that were fine not to draw eyes to them for being out at that time of evening. If she was in pajamas, she would draw attention to herself, she would be noticed. There would be a chance of someone keeping that image in their minds if they ever saw her again. 

"I'm ready." She came out to where he stood, shutting the door behind her and carrying nothing on her. At least, not in a bag. As odd as it was, anything that was small and needed was just tucked away into her bra for safe keeping. Hardly anyone had it in them to frisk her for such an object in her private area. He was willing to take her to the park, which made it clear that he did care about Dante. At least, he cared enough to do this. 

"Whose blood was it?" She seemed concerned, but she knew the answer in the back of her mind. "On the shirt... that was proof of something? You mentioned it when you walked in. The proof part."

My family has no say in my life whatsoever, they’ve lost that right a long time ago, however if they continue to bother me, asking me to leave London so shortly after I’ve arrived I’m glad to be able to leave them with your regards. I suppose considering that recent events weren’t exactly in anyones hands that London is as save as any other place if it comes to that. I mean, for all we know we could step on the wrong stone on our way to the grocery store or wherever and blow up as a result of it. Trust me Dear, I had to learn in live how to protect myself, I’m no victim and if I shall become one I won’t go down easily.

Oh no, nothing to worry about me. I was perfectly save, I had no intention of taking the tube upon my arrival here, now my intentions are even less existent. I suppose the constant phone calls and messages from those back home; across the Atlantic are what has me quite shaken, they’ve drawn rather vivid horror scenarios within my mind.

It's understandable. Families tend to do as they wish regardless of what you say to them in reference to their actions. But you are safe to stay in London in my eyes and that is what matters. You're aware of it now--and that means you shouldn't have many worries plaguing your mind. It's unfortunate that its taking so long for this to be handled--I hope that a good amount come out of it alive. I wouldn't want to see any more deaths change the statistics to a lower value than they already are. 

They can draw many things for you but if you want to know anything in regards to what is happening where they are, I can try my best to help you. I work in that area and I was in the states often for work. I am here for the moment, I'm not sure how long I will reside here but by the looks of things it might be for some time.

The woman did not seem to be in the loop - seem being the keyword here; call it paranoia or a healthy dose of caution, but working with Dante and Malachi had taught him not to take anything for granted and not to make assumptions too quickly based on too little information. If this woman was acting, though, she was doing a bloody good job of it; or perhaps she was genuinely confused and scared and he was being a generally paranoid arse. But having made his living in working with number and calculating chances, Nick wasn’t really the person to leave any option unaccounted for. 

It looked like he would have to step inside, though. Steeling himself internally, eyes taking careful stock of the surroundings. There didn’t seem to be any traps. Taking the phone from her, he listened to the voice quietly. Keeping it in hand, he made his way over towards the woman’s couch - where true to form a bag had indeed been placed; with inside of it…

His fingers clenched into a hard fist around the fabric of Dante’s shirt — he recognized it easily enough, it was one of his favorites — splattered with blood. Undoubtedly his boss’s, though knowing Dante it wasn’t all his. The fact that they had the shirt; well, that was proof enough. “All right,” He intoned pleasantly. “You have my attention. I’ll bring you the woman.” Nick turned off the call, not interested in hearing any more details on his sudden charge. The government… figured. He was rather glad he’d left Mal the voicemail now. Whether this woman was actually a sociologist or not — that didn’t really matter anymore either. He had no other choice but to follow their whims, much as it pained him.

"Dreadfully sorry for the intrusion, love," Nick finally addressed the woman again tone cool. "But it seems I have to take you to Battersea Park; I’ve heard it’s quite pleasant this time of the evening, so it shouldn’t be too much trouble for you, should it?"

The blood on the shirt wasn't alarming to her on the inside. It was very normal to see it considering she took it off of the man herself to put it into the bag and take it with her back to her home. But on the outside, her persona looked shocked and had her hands over her mouth. Blood always was an alarming factor to see brought into a situation and she was aware that a stranger looking for such an item wasn't good company. Regardless of the smiles or tone of voice--danger was danger. The mask never changed the face that resided underneath.

"What?" She furrowed her brows at him, looking toward the bag and then over at the door. "I don't know you. You just came into my house at this time and you have that thing with you--what do you even want out of me?" She caught her breath, and considering the clothing she was wearing, it was a bit dreadful to think she had to go outside to a park like that. Meant the pajamas would be dirty and of all things--Prudence hated when her clothes were ruined because of these sort of jobs. 

Prudence wasn't afraid of the man at all. Not by his tone of voice or the look in his eyes. Regardless of what he felt for Dante, he wasn't a threat--he was just someone that had to be taken. He was another piece of her objective. But she showed fear toward him, noting his eyes and then offering a small nod of her head that showed to be hesitant and leery. "F-Fine... I'll go... But..." She looked down at her clothes, "Am I even allowed to change before we leave. I don't exactly know what I'm being dragged into and ...I don't know."
