I can hardly believe that it’s August already. It feels like we’ve done nothing this summer, what a waste. But then again, it’s been too hot to do anything… I think I’d much prefer the blizzard from two years ago to this. Then again, it’s a crime to waste weather this good…
Oh, I know! We should have a day at the theme park! Wouldn’t that be lovely?
R-really, you’d prefer the blizzard, Alice? But it was so terrible! An’ summer hasn’t been that bad! Lots of sunshine, a long break... I dunno ‘bout you but I’m not really ready to go back to college.
A theme park day, I’m in! I-I haven’t been to the theme park in forever. The last time I went... woulda been ‘bout a year an’ a half ago, in December. That was fun! Yeah, I remember it was December ‘cause it was snowin’, an’ they had a temporary ice rink opened up, an’ lights everywhere... an’ Thumper got sick all over my shoes after eatin’ too many candy canes.
Okay, so maybe less fun than I first remembered.

Surprises in the Forest | Bambi & Snow
It was hotter than Snow had realized, and her stroll through the Hundred Acre Wood with Bambi quickly turned into resting under a large oak tree. Its leaves provided plenty of shade, and they talked for what felt like hours. He gave her insights on his life as a prince, and she tried to remember every detail about life back at the cottage. Sometimes Snow couldn’t believe how fortunate things were going for her friends these days: Rapunzel seemed to be thriving outside of her tower, and she had enough beautiful murals on her walls to show for it; Thumper never had many complaints and had visited her many times since school let out, Alice was smiling more often than not lately, Tiana was falling in love, and Aurora and Bambi, royalty! Why, it felt like dreams coming true, that’s what it was.
She carefully looped one purple wildflower around another, just like Alice had taught her. By the time she was through, she had a crown that she placed on Bambi’s head mid-sentence.
“….Loves to bake, and her pies made even Grumpy smile! Although I know he won’t admit it. Oh, and she’s teaching me how to play chess, and just the other day I woke up to find her sweeping the kitchen so I wouldn’t have to! She’s so wonderful, she’s like a sister! She’s back home now, I think she had some pottery she was working on. I love Rapunzel. You know, Thumper never let me put flower crowns on him, he’d always tear them off. I wonder if he’d wear a carrot crown,” she broke off, covering her mouth with a hand to stifle her giggling. “Anyway, I think you look very nice Bambi!”
Unsure as to why he had been wearing one in the first place, Bambi gave in to the heat and peeled off his green jumper - he could tell that if he wore it any longer things would quickly become a lot more sticky, and that would just ruin what had been a perfectly pleasant day. Their quick break under the tree had gone on for longer than he’d expected, but it also happened to be the hottest part of the day and Bambi was very, very reluctant to move from under the shade. The wishing well could wait. It was nice talking to Snow at length; like Alice and Thumper, she didn’t mind that Bambi preferred to sit back and let her do most of the talking, inter-spliced with anecdotes on Bambi’s new life as a prince. Which was actually a lot like his old life, only with a lot more public scrutiny and the occasional official event.
He moved his head downward so that Snow could put the flower crown on his head. “Alice taught me how to make these so many times, but I never could remember how.” Still, he pulled out a couple of wildflowers of his own, blue and white, and made an clumsy attempt at weaving them together.
Bambi had heard about this Rapunzel girl from both Thumper and Snow now, and was beginning to wonder when it would be his turn to meet her. He was about to ask whether or not he could come over to Snow’s, before Snow reported that the girl had already gone home. Four flowers down, the next loop was proving particularly difficult to thread, and Bambi drew it up to eye-level so as to see the stems better “Aw, I was just ‘boutta ask whether I could meet her. Thump said she lives somewhere where it’s hard to see other people. Why doesn’t she move, d’you think?”
He wasn’t surprised to hear Thumper didn’t like wearing flower crowns. At the mention of carrots, Bambi paused in the middle of flower-crown making and reached into his backpack to retrieve a box of fresh vegetables, already cut and ready to eat. Grabbing some before offering the box to Snow, he replied through a mouthful of lettuce, “‘Fanks, Shnow. You look nice too!” Bambi tied the last blue flower onto the crown before presenting it to Snow, his loops not quite as well done as hers. “S-sorry, I tried. These flowers sure are pretty… I should pick some later before we go home, I haven’t given Faline flowers in a while.”
The prince stretched out his long legs before playfully nudging Snow’s shoes with one of his. “Should we get goin’? This time I’m about ninety-percent sure the well is somewhere behind those trees over there, promise!"
Alice and I were playing Wed Bed Behead, but I decided I didn't like that too much and came up with a new game––long story short, why don't you come over sometime soon? We could bake all day, or tell stories or explore the forest. Wouldn't that be fun?
Snow, hi! Yeah, sure, I’d love to come over! But uh… what’s comin’ over gotta do with a game?
Actually, there is something I found explorin’ in the forest a while ago that I could show you! It’s this really old, abandoned well, an’ it’s pretty much almost overgrown with vines an’ weeds an’ stuff… I wonder how deep it goes, or if it’s even got any water left in it. S-so yeah, we could do that, or, or we could bake, whatever you wanna do!

“O-oh gosh, I…” Bambi flushed a light pink as he looked up to see Minnie angling her cheek at him with a teasing grin. He was more used to being on the receiving end of her kisses, rather than it being the other way around; still, he couldn’t be rude! An embarrassed smile spread across his face as he took three steps to cross the space between them before giving her a shy peck on the cheek.

It was Faline’s birthday, and Bambi was absolutely determined to make it one of the best days ever. It had been hard to come up with something to do with Faline that they hadn’t already done since they had started going out, and he had been feeling increasingly alarmed until someone, possibly sent by an angel, told him about a store, a fantastic store, where you could make and customise your own teddy bear.
It sounded as though it catered mainly to children, but it also sounded like Fun with a capital F, and Bambi was sure Faline would like it too. It had certainly seemed like it, when he had proposed it to her the week earlier, and maybe that had ruined part of it, not getting the element of surprise, so to make up for it Bambi also made sure he arrived at her house that morning with the biggest bouquet of flowers he (and possibly the world) had ever seen.
And now they were nearing the store, him clasping her hand in his, and Bambi was just about bouncing on the balls of his feet, so excited was he at the thought of getting to make his own bear.“Look! You can even get costumes for ‘em, too!” He pointed excitedly at the window display, seeing bears in bee costumes and princess tiaras.

He remembered when he used to feel shy and awkward about kissing or even hugging and showing other forms of affection to Alice (and girls in general). But now that they had been friends for so long, it just felt natural, like breathing, like coming home. He flashed a small smile before leaning down to kiss her on the cheek.
