Got an umbreon and espeon tattoo yesterday. It looks weird because I hadn't washed it yet. Loving it though

My first instinct when I see an animal is to say “hello”, my first instinct when I see a human is to avoid eye contact and hope it goes away

I need to go to Japan, exclusively for this now. It must be what heaven is like. If only I could take my little one with me, but she can’t even do car rides without losing it on me.

This might seem cute at first glance, but;

- The animals are being kept in tiny, tiny empty cages (one hedgehog needs a cage with a minimum size of 40 x 20 inch/100 x 50 cm and these tanks are nowhere near that size) - No places to hide whatsoever so the animals are forced to sleep out in the open in broad daylight (hedgehogs are burrowers and need something to sleep and hide in) - No cage enrichment (hedgehogs need a wheel and toys to play with to keep them both mentally and physically healthy) - Multiple hedgehogs kept together in the small enclosures (hedgehogs are solitary animals) - Since there are babies in there and they are selling hedgehogs they might be breeding them, given the circumstances it’s doubtful these animals are of quality breeding stock - Forced interaction with strangers (for most hedgehogs, who are not very social animals, in itself not enjoyable) during the day while the animals are nocturnal

Yes it’s cute to go to a cafe and pet a hedgehog and it is great for them to get more recognition, but in the best interest of the animals, please do not support things like this.

Anytime there is a wild animal in captivity, other than at a rescue/rehab sanctuary, it’s wrong. It’s just fucking wrong.

Are wild animals supposed to be pets? Absolutely not.

Are domestic animals such as dogs or cats in shelters or animals who can not survive on their own who desperately need love, care and attention supposed to be pets? Yes.

Please tell me where she said people should not have pets. Captivity is very different from providing a loving, caring home to a domestic animal when you have the means to. Keeping wild animals against their will in an environment that is completely unsuitable for them and thus preventing them from developing and living the life they’re supposed to IS wrong and animal cruelty, no matter how you spin it.

You can treat an indoor cat as amazingly as possible, but it’s still CONFINED to the house. Same for any pet.

And for the last thing, I never said I support animal cruelty.

But you’re right, you didn’t disagree with her; you put words in her mouth and then found you were justified to bash her for something she didn’t say.

Domesticated animals have been bred to be dependent on humans. They are not suited to survive in the wild. In a perfect world, they never would’ve been bred this way, but this is the reality. Keeping one “confined” to the house is in their own best interest and keeps them healthy and safe. The act of adopting a domestic pet comes with the responsibility of keeping them properly cared for. Taking a wild animal and forcing them to live a domesticated life is not the same as this.

The “all-captivity-is-equal” logic you imply simply doesn’t stand. Wild animals are different from domesticated ones, period. They have skills, instincts, and qualities that make them best suited for their natural outdoor environment. It’s as simple as that.

If you support a hedgehog cafe, you do support animal cruelty.
