firstly, because its my body. I'm allowed to do any surgery I want done on my body, even if it'd expense and has complications. it's called the right to risk.
secondly, I think you're saying this to call it internalized sexisim or avoiding a misogynistic society. I've thought about that for years, wondering why I felt that disconnect.
its because I don't view this body as my body, I am not a woman. this isn't because I think being a woman is anything in particular. a woman can have a million different walks of life, can look any and act any way and still be a woman. women can be strong and independent, can choose to stay home for their spouse, can do anything that they want to while also understanding the misogyny that is in the society that surrounds us. being a woman is hard, and no mater how much I am trans it doesn't change the fact that I do still get affected by misogyny. I will be socially raised as a woman, and that will always impact me - personally I say for the better.
I feel distress at being seen as something or someone I'm not. this is true for every part of myself. I'm bisexual too, and people ignoring that aspect of me (ie, saying I'm gay because I have a boyfriend instead of acknowledging my bisexuality) also causes me distress. if I had to pretend to like marvel movies for people, it would also cause me distress.
never being able to resolve that distress is what made me suicidal in the past. forever being seen as something or someone I am not is traumatic.
and it doesn't help that my body itself is distressing. I'm planning on having surgery so I can wear a shirt without a binder. I want bottom surgery so I can stand while I pee and enjoy my naked form that much more. it's not JUST so other people see me a certain way, it's also for me to enjoy myself more.
