I know the law fails women in a multitude of ways, but I will never see anything other than rape apologism in people who uniquely pressure rape and DV survivors into “restorative justice” models, and who call anyone who disagrees a “carceral feminist”
Why do you believe crimes against men deserve jail time and crimes against women deserve discussion circles
we let tumblr losers whose entire sexual lives are nothing but fanfiction and badly drawn erotica of cartoon characters anoint themselves the Super Cool Authorities on Sex and that’s why the gist of “sex positivity” on here is just pro-porn and pro-kink and often nearly entirely detached from any actual tangible sexuality. sex with real people and real bodies and real intimacy. 21st century digital age capitalism in which your real sexuality is replaced with a wholly commodified form built entirely off of exploitation and massive wage theft. porn is not real. these people think pornography is sex and they want to call you anti-sex. lmfao
if u only learn one thing from my washed up blog, learn this. one of the many things both the left and right can agree on is that women’s social, physical and sexual boundaries are to be held in contempt. unfettered sexual access to women is the nucleus of male supremacy.
women who say no to sex with any kind of male for any reason or no reason commit an injustice. to the right, our injustice is against civilization itself, because our failure to comply means they will find it harder to propagate the next generation of slaves and slave masters at our expense. to the left, our injustice is against the oppressed, the marginalized males who want to reap this particular spoil of patriarchy but cannot due to their diminished value in the patriarchal pecking order.
the right will be honest. they will tell you that their solution is to simply erode and eliminate your ability to enforce your boundaries. that your ability to say no is a glitch in the system that has been left unpatched for far too long. the left will lie. they too agree with the right’s solution, and they too agree that your boundaries are an inconvenient glitch in the system. but the left will use progressive language to obfuscate this belief. to the left, the erosion of your boundaries is necessary for the marginalized males of this world to achieve some semblance of their denied birthright.
come to think of it, both the left and right believe your ability to say no can be an act of oppression; some of the most high status, western white men, are losing their minds over birth rates, saying women are oppressing the human race itself by saying no. they both believe that your ability to say no is an ethical and moral failing. to the left, to say yes is justice, to say no is bigotry. to the right, to say yes is justice, to say no is catastrophe—on par with human extinction.
all males are politically incentivized to view your ability to say no as an injustice, and they are socially and culturally compelled to correct and overcome this injustice. they correct or overcome this injustice with rape. the more sophisticated male supremacists will push for a psychological strengthening of patriarchy. a world where you’ll never say no at all, because you are a good comrade, or a good wife, and there will be no rape to speak of and no boundaries to think of because you will always say yes. that is true liberation for both the marginalized males, and for the higher status males who have marginalized them. you were never really supposed to say no in the first place. it’s inconvenient. they want to claw back this power.
don’t let them. keep committing the injustice. it is important that this injustice is ours to commit. embrace the failure of ethics, embrace the criminality, and smile when they attempt to wear down your ability to uphold your fortress. don’t allow anyone to take your spine. if sex is a need, then let them die, and tiktok dance on the gotdamn corpse.
when right wingers call you a cultural marxist cat lady for denying sex to the men they value, stop defending your character.
when leftists call you a nazi for denying sex to the men they value, stop defending your character.
dare them to solve the problem. how are they going to solve your unreasonable standards? how are they going to deconstruct your bigoted boundaries? ask them how you’ll be fixed. ask them how your bigotry will be corrected. ask them what their solution is, understand your enemy, and move accordingly. do not appeal to their morals. do not comply. 👁️
you like fanart of a character maybe Two times and suddenly ur tumblr page thinks u want to read them taking it up the ass
tumblr users vs not reblogging a post that doesn’t apply to them I don’t care if u read ur favs taking it up the ass Why would you reblog this just to be like #and what if i do #THEN THIS ISNT ABOUT YOU
honestly the more time i spend on tumblr and especially in discourse hell, the more i appreciate the simple ass allies whose only opinion is “being gay isnt wrong” its so refreshing to remember that most people irl have no idea what 90% of all yalls made up nonsense means
I really do think Entity! Nikki is a childish existence and on top of it I think that's why it feels so bad to see her becoming traumatized from being with Bear when his wish ripped out parts of her that made it impossible to love him. Not! Nikki exists as sparknotes of her former self with the missing pieces filled in by Bear's own personality and habits, but she's still being traumatized because fundamentally Nikki and Bear's relationship is defined by her saying no and him not caring. It why I see the ending scenes of the movie as really nauseating because Not! Nikki is this new being without life experiences gauging her personality and behavior off of Bear's reaction and she starts to associate her genitals with violence. Entity Nikki is crying in the corner and starts to force herself to sleep at night and give Nikki full control because before that scene E! Nikki has the real Nikki's nightmare about how Bear raped her. It makes me feel sick since she's like a child that can't comprehend what's happening or why this is all hurting, and why she feels terrified by someone she loves. She doesn't understand why she feels so violated when one of the scenes with her and Bear is her assuring him he didn't violate her cause that's what Bear wants her to be telling him
I like that Supergirl says it’s okay to kill someone’s abuser so long as you don’t let the thirteen year old do it and I like that Supergirl says vengeance will not solve things but neither will allowing a cycle of violence to continue
And I like how Supergirl addresses the real issues and lets the girls be messy instead of "teaching her a lesson" that she needs to be nicer. She is not nice but she is kind!
The single most horrific thing about Obsession to me is the fact that Nikki literally couldn't do anything about it. She tried to do the right thing initially, have her friend be up front with her about his feelings, and all she could do was trust him at his word when he lied directly to her. And then he went behind her back to, albeit unknowingly, strip her of her autonomy and individuality, everything that made her her, and there was absolutely nothing she could do. She couldn't fight him off, advocate for herself, she wasn't even given the grace to understand what was happening to her or why she's being made to act like this. And when everything goes down and Nikki begs Bear to kill her, the only ask that the real Nikki had made of him since the wish began, he didn't even have the decency to respect the one single fucking thing she had ever asked of him. He has the real Nikki in front of him, speaking to him, like he had wanted the entire time, and he essentially asks "Well what about how I feel about all this? What's so bad about being with me?"
And when he refused her wants and needs once again, there was not a thing she could do.
Oughgg having the realization that almost every single "creepy" thing Nikki/"Nikki" does are also things that a lot of rape victims do, specifically ones that a lot of non victims find unpalatable. Acting out, fawning over her abuser, self harm, wetting herself, getting into/writing about dark and taboo topics, et cetera et cetera.
The horror of Obsession is just a woman being a "bad" victim.
the thing about obsession is that I already knew men were capable of great violence, even the ones that you think you can trust, the ones you feel closest to, the ones you think are good people. at the end of the day, oftentimes, their desire to possess you overrides everything else. to me, the saddest takeaway of the movie is that nikki truly had nobody. all her friends saw her acting oddly, they all saw her break down at the party and try to smash her head in with a bottle. they all saw bear taking advantage of her mental state. and still nobody else stepped in. maybe they didn't think anything was wrong, I don't know, but more likely, it was just easier for them to look the other way and lie to themselves that everything would be okay. maybe tell themselves that she'd turn them away if they did try to help. because to try to help would be to experience discomfort and nobody ever wants to put themselves through that. it made me think of real life and how women in abusive relationships become so isolated - partially due to fault of their abuser, of course, but also because most people have the mindset of "not my business" and "too much trouble". which sure, applies sometimes, but when its your closest friend it IS your business. they could see she was going through something, but its always easier to talk about them behind their back and pretend you've shown concern, that you're a good person for "caring", rather than actually make an effort to help - which most times is ugly and difficult but is the right thing to do.
sadly, sarah and ian's actions rang very true to real life. ian said a few perfunctory words to bear about 'how its wrong' which made no difference at all, but he could pat himself on the back and sleep easy at night after doing so. sarah ended up making it about herself, telling bear "that he didn't deserve nikki putting her troubles on him" (paraphrasing) and suggested that he'd be better off with her, although she knew that nikki didn't have feelings for bear and a blind person could see that something fishy was going on. yet she took the easy way out and pretended she was caring about bear while being unbearably selfish.
maybe they could have helped her - maybe she would have snapped out for a moment and they would have realized what was wrong, maybe they could have forced bear to tell them, maybe they wouldn't have been able to change anything. but it is so sad that they didn't even try.
worse, we know nikki is someone who's there for other people, as evidenced by the dialogue early-on where bear tells Ian she was the one who showed up and took care of him when his grandmother died. yet, when it came down to it, nobody showed up for her. she was failed in every way and this frightens me, because I wonder how many of my friends will look past their own discomfort to come help me if I was ever in a similar situation.
thinking about post-movie nikki who will forever be terrified of losing her autonomy again. nikki who will forever doubt every thought that crosses her mind, every emotion she feels, because is she sure she's the one in control? what if the entity is still there, lurking, puppeteering her to think these things, say these things, do these things? nikki, who will forever question if anything is real. if she is real.
The ending in "obsession" is the most horrifying part to me because much like real life, the man gets off scott free and the woman is left to deal with all the mess
the thing is bear doesn’t even really know nikki. they’ve been “friends” for a long time but he barely even listens to her, he didn’t even question her concern for her dad’s cancer when Ian and Sarah both immediately poked holes in not!Nikki’s story. all the shots of Nikki obscured in darkness showing not only is she Not there but also she’s never been there, bear has never seen her. only the silhouette of her life on his. and if the one wish willow could puppeteer her husk more seamlessly, he’d be satisfied with the shell of her…
it is terrifying that bear only sought to "alter" his wish rather than cancelling it but what is even more terrifying is that he wouldn't even have called the number had nikki not inconvenienced him. if she did not act in such extreme ways bear wouldn't even have a problem. which is sooooo sooooo terrifying because he was completely fine living and being "loved" by nikki who he knew wasn't the real her. he claimed to love her, but even when she started acting like a totally different person it was water off a duck's back for him. he DIDN'T CARE whether it was the real nikki or an entirely different person.
even when she begs him to kill her, he does not feel even a shred of pity for her; he only worries "is being with me that bad".
the only reason he tries to change anything is because her behavior started to scare him FREAK him out. had she acted in a meeker way, bear would've lived with her HIS WHOLE LIFE knowing she ISN'T the real nikki NOT GIVING A FUCK about what she would've wanted. PERIOD.
the more i sit with it the more i realise that the title of the movie did not refer to nikki's obsession with bear but rather his obsession with her. because i know fs that what he felt for her definitely wasn't love.
