On April 23 2021, three years ago.... Rainbow Rebels was born!
RR started out as a pitch project in university, before it was decided to be expand into a webcomic series!
There's been a lot of growing pains, several re-writes and character redesigns. But one day the story of Rose and her friends will be told!
Update #4
Long time no see everyone! It's been awhile and with the passage time things naturally change and evolve....like Rainbow Rebels!
Good news: We're in the midst of outlining the full story and very close to finalizing it. Once done with that we can move onto drafting episodes and so on and so fourth. In the meantime we're also getting back into artistic swing of things and redesigning/touching up the Rebels' looks.
Here's some VERY rough development for Rebel Sky's new look:
Aside from looking 20% more cooler, Sky/Sasha's character has undergone a bit of an overhaul in the writing department. Her name is now Sasha Serena (originally Serene) and she's simply a local modelling celebrity as opposed to the international fame her parents have- but she one day wants to reach their level. But she also discovers another passion in dance- specifically Ballet.
You'll find everyone else (Lovely, Star, Nature and even Vanity) have gone through some minor to drastic changes. I'll share more details once we've got some more development and concept of these new designs. How about Olivia/Rebel Nature next?
For now Rainbow Rebels will not be released early next year at the moment, but possibly later in 2024 (not promising anything like last time). Until then, see ya!

Hello again my friends, it has been awhile. Since our last post we said we were starting production of episode 0 due out later this year and previously on twitter and we boldly set the date of September. HOWEVER- after constant rewrites of the script and the sudden realization that Rainbow Rebels is just far too long of a story, we have decided to take a step back and rewrite the story.
Mostly everything is the same, but the pacing will be faster (it was originally going to take 20 40 page chapters to reach a massive plot point....that was only half way through the story- we're only a one person team atm)
As we rework the story, we're gonna get back into character designing, concept art and possibly some animation work for portfolio stuff. As such Rainbow Rebels will most likely be further delayed still some time next year. We apologise for the delay but the creative process is a struggle sometimes.
The plus side is we'll get to those juicy plot twists and reveals much sooner! We think....
There's no heroes without any villains!
Introducing one of the major antagonists of Rainbow Rebels, Commander Vanity of the Nullarians! She's a cold and prideful villainess who is boastful of her Nullarian ways and looks down upon who oppose her. However she is extremely loyal to her superiors and seeks to only carry out their will.
As a Nullarian, Vanity is a keeper of the Voided Sea and can summon its powers to assist her in combat and summon the monsters that void the hearts of people: Nullagooners.
At long last the Rainbow Rebels are assembled! Who's your favourite? Is it the adorable Rebel Lovely? The cheeky Rebel Star? The shy Rebel Nature? or the confident Rebel Sky?
Now that we've officially introduced our main characters, we can discuss our villains and supporting cast next~!
The Warrior of the Winds, Rebel Sky!
Our fourth member of the Rainbow Rebels, Sasha Serene a.k.a Rebel Sky! Sasha is the daughter of a famous family and is popular because of her own achievements in dancing and modelling. Her catchphrase is "the sky is my limit!"'
Despite her background, Sasha is humble and practically gets along with everyone she meets because she's so chill and laid back. But she also has an air of confidence to herself and loves a challenge, but is sensible enough to know when to back out of something. Sasha loves ballet and also works as a model for Celeste Cosmetics, but sometimes pushes herself to a bit too far. She also has some trust issues and struggles to be honest with herself and others, due to some past circumstances.
Using the Blue Sky Crystal, Sasha transforms into the Warrior of the Winds, Rebel Sky. She uses the Prismagic of the winds and represents honesty, confidence and freedom.

Hello everyone, long time no see! You see the creator of this blog is in the midst playing a certain game named after a certain princess but isn't finished so they're quite hesitant to be online because SPOILERS.
*ahem*
We have an announcement to make in this update but first we must address the elephant in the room. Where is the blue rebel? She's still being worked on right now but she'll be revealed in due time.
In the meantime, we have decided to move forward with the production of Episode 0! The idea is to use this opportunity to get the ball rolling and once released there will be a hiatus before the official debut of the series starting with Episode 1. But a lot of work needs to be done for Episode 0, we're currently scripting the episode (no really, we have the google doc opened on another tab right now) there's a lot of characters that need designing, background environments and storyboarding the pages.
We do not have a release date for Episode 0, but maybe we'll have something by the end of year. Maybe.
In the meantime, we'll also be working on the main characters, other art projects and the main story in the background. We're trying to get back into storyboarding and animation as well, so maybe a bit of that too? (and of course, finishing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom so we can browse the internet spoiler free)

"The Guardian of the Gaia, Rebel Nature!"
Introducing the third member of the Rainbow Rebels, Olivia Verde a.k.a Rebel Nature! She is also the first transgender member of the team!
Olivia is another friend of Rose & Emily, a 13 year old girl that loves the environment and her family. Her catchphrase is "It's only natural that..."
Olivia is a shy but gentle young girl who is kind to those around her. She devotes herself to protecting the environment and helping those in need, though she finds herself held back by her doubt and anxiety. She is very smart from her love of research and studying, becoming knowledgeable and observant of the world around her. Olivia is also very caring of her friends and family, especially her pet Lizard.
Using the Green Nature Crystal, Olivia transforms into the Gaia Guardian, Rebel Nature. She uses the Prismagic of life and represents kindness, peace & growth.

Hello everybody, I hope you've had a good week so far and enjoyed a lovely Valentines Day~
Rainbow Rebels is still early in production, so it's gonna be a long while before the comic begins releasing. But until that fateful day I'll be providing updates of my progress.
Right now I'm designing the rest of the Rebel team to be introduced at a later date and some other important supporting characters.
As for writing, the whole story is split into four arcs so currently I'm working on arc 1. It's wayyyy easier for me to focus on one part of the story than the whole picture. I have the arc outlined, it's just filling in each episode and figuring out the best way to introduce the girls and communicate the themes and morals of Rainbow Rebels.
It's certainly a difficult task for someone who hasn't written much in her life, but practice makes progress and it's interesting to see how ideas evolve with each refinement. A recent is example was with episode 1, after a while I realized the audience might not have the plot context and Rose's motivation explained. I was planning for Rose to explain everything to Emily once she joins, but taking into account the comic's release schedule that would be awhile. So I decided to write an episode 0 which goes over the invasion of the Prismagica Kingdom and Rose's resolve to save it. I'm still drafting it but honestly? It does Rose so much justice and really shows what's at stake, the Prismagica Kingdom isn't just some far away fantasy land, it's a place with real people. And if the Rebels fail, we know what tragic fate awaits the Earth......
Anywayyssssssss, that concludes the first official update of the Rainbow Rebels blog. Hopefully next time I post we'll meet our next Rebel (and she might be my favourite too).

Introducing the second member of the Rainbow Rebels, Hoshizora Emily a.k.a Rebel Star!
Emily is Rose's best friend and classmate, a 13 year old girl who aspires to be a musician like her idol, Soliel. Her catchphrase is "Startastic!" and "That's out of this world!"
Emily is an energetic and goofy kid, she dreams big and is bold in execution. Is extremely supportive of her friends, even if means convincing them to do crazy things. Her cheerfulness and smiles are as bright as the sun. Emily naturally has a love for music and singing, but she also enjoys video games and astronomy.
Using the Yellow Star Crystal, Emily transforms into the Shinning Songstress, Rebel Star. She uses the prismagic of light and represents joy, inspiration and courage. Her birthday is Jan 31st.

Introducing the main protagonist of Rainbow Rebels, Rose De La Rainbow a.k.a Rebel Lovely!
Rose is the 13 year old Princess of the Prismagica Kingdom that was attacked by the Nullarians. She comes to Earth in search of heroes to help her rebel against these evil forces. Her catchphrase is "in a heart beat!" and "how lovely!"
Rose is a sweet and polite young girl, she always stays positive and does her best as a Princess. She loves meeting new people and learning new things, becoming interested in fashion and cosmetics on Earth. Rose cherishes the words of her father "Everyone deserves to follow their hearts".
Using the Pink Heart Crystal, Rose transforms into the Heart Beating Hero, Rebel Lovely. She uses the prismagic of the heart and represents love, positivity & hope.
