I don’t love tumblr, so new posts are now going to my Pillowfort. Because pillow forts are awesome.
I have some extra invites for pillowfort if anyone I know needs one.

Jake says, “Read these new books now!”
A good week for giant collections (the Aickman box is so big Mimi got scared and ran away when I set them down near her). Also, new Cixin Liu!
A nice variety of new books this week.
Mimi is protecting this week’s new books from the very dangerous phone charging cable.
The newest arrivals from PS, plus a nice selection from the weekend’s visit to Quail Ridge Books.
HAPPYFOURTH!
I’ve been trying to cut back on book acquisitions while there’s the possibility we might move, but I couldn’t resist Apex’s Pride bundle, and the ASFF’s Norma K. Hemming Award finalist list had a few titles I had to pick up.
I think I like Brooklyn, or at least its sidewalks.
I hate the recent trend in hotel shower design for immovable glass panels that require one to perform odd contortions to reach around a single door to avoid freezing or scalding while getting the temperature set. This Crowne Plaza suffered that flaw but somebody had the good sense to come back and carve a semicircle through which you can reach the handle. I’d still prefer proper sliding doors but I have to give props for the nice hack.
I think google is drunk.
Hard to believe COKEZERO has already been around for 13 years. So much better than regular Diet Coke.
How I spent my Caturday afternoon.
I love that clue (Outmarch?) for PRIDEPARADE.
I hate those SCRATCHANDSNIFF perfume/cologne ads in magazines. Magazines should be scent-free.
I was going to post a picture of today’s crossword, but somebody insisted belly rubs are more important.
The Emersons performed one of Dvorak’s Cypresses (#7, I believe) as an encore to their excellent program. So now a bit more Dvorak is required at home.
