Captive Helioptile who cannot bask all day must be fed regularly, and have to be frequently exposed to a Sun Stone if their trainer wishes them to evolve. By flaring out their frills Helioptile are able to generate more energy, and are able to use this energy to stimulate their leg muscles with electricity, granting them quick bursts of speed. This also helps to develop their hind legs, resulting in mature Helioptile being bipedal.
