everyone loves to hate terfs until they realise that it actually entails rejecting bioessentialism entirely and then suddenly you’re “taking things too seriously” and you “don’t have a sense of humour” like i’m sorry but saying protect the dolls doesn’t make you immune to terfism it has seeped into every corner of mainstream feminism and unless you’re actively searching it out and checking your own biases you will always be at risk of sharing a space with terfs
“Only women can—” nope. “But all men—” nah. “The divine femininity of—” gonna stop you right there. “Everyone born ama—” if you finish that sentence I’ll kill you. “Men don’t experience—” you’re wrong. “Gender isn’t real but sex is imm—” *loud incorrect buzzer*
It also goes without saying that bioessentialism inherently can’t be trans inclusive no matter how hard you try. “All men including trans men—” probably not. “This is only a woman’s issue—” is it really? “Afabs only—” why? “All trans men are like—” what? what are they like? finish the sentence i dare you.
Can AMAB people get pregnant and potentially die in childbirth after being denied an abortion?
Acknowledging differences in experiences is not bioessentialism.
Intersex amab people with a uterus exist
Being AMAB and AFAB are AN EVENT that happened IN THE PAST and can be done IN ERROR.
AFAB does not inherently mean: having a uterus, having ovaries, having ovum, having a vagina, having a vulva, having XX chromosomes, having 'typical' testosterone/œstrogen levels, being "raised as a girl", looking a certain way, having long hair, having the ability to be pregnant/give birth/have a menstrual cycle, be "gentle", be "more emotional", lacking anything thought of as a male/man's, probably a bunch of other things.
AMAB does not inherently mean: having testes, having a phallus, having a scrotum, having/producing sperm, having XY chromosomes, having 'typical' testosterone/œstrogen levels, being "raised as a boy", looking a certain way, having short hair, having a square jaw, having a prominent Adam's apple, having thick/lots of body hair, having the ability to impregnate, be "strong", be "more logical", lacking anything thought of as a female/woman's, probably a bunch of other things.
Sometimes it's due to being intersex, sometimes due to being transgender but it can also just be "the doctor fucked up". It can be "we gave the wrong results". It can be "medical studies aren't based on my race". It can be "my body is atypical enough that I don't fit but typical enough that I don't identify with intersex". It can be "I had cancer". It can be "I had a medical complication that altered things". It can be so many things.
As an intersex agender I promise you that there's nothing inherent. It's social.
(This does not deny the need for women's spaces or trans inclusive spaces. Those things are need because of oppression, not because of something inherent and immutable).
