A new chapter

Well, it has definitely been a minute since I posted to my Tumblr. I wanted to make this a place for women in business, but the content direction in which I was going wasn't doing what I wanted. I think if I just journal and express my difficulties and advantages from a personal stance, I can relate to you all more! I think it would not only help and benefit others, but also help me as well to understand myself better as I develop into the mogul that I aspire to be. Even to the men that may take to my blog, welcome. This is a new direction for me because even through the hardest moments, I’m learning how to thank God for the growth that he has put in front of me. The opportunities and the doors that are to come I am all grateful for. Sometimes, we think that new chapters are suppose to come when New Year’s comes around, or we turn a year older, but I'm learning that a new chapter comes whenever you decide you're ready to do something different. New Chapters happen when we turn the page on doing things the old way. And this, this is my new chapter...

Comfort-ability

Here we are.. Back on a Thursday, the middle to end of the week. As I was gearing up and writing yesterday’s entry I had a change of topic. It changed so swiftly that I decided, “I’ll just post on Thursday.” What was so thought changing on Wednesday that made me not post until today? Well it happened to be my thoughts on what I like to call “Comfort-ability”. So let me hop straight into it..

We all know Wednesday to be “Hump Day”, the middle of the week where it’s almost time to start planning for the weekend. This particular Wednesday, I found myself still trying to recharge. I felt like I was not prepared for this week at all. My body was tired, mentally I was so drained that whenever I would go to pick up my laptop to get some work done I would just stare at the screen for hours. I’ve found myself having to restart my week over the past few days because I just wasn’t mentally rested enough to focus.

SO I thought to pose a question for the readers:

How do you recharge without becoming TOO comfortable during the resting period?

Goal Digger:

Initiation Week..

Well ladies.., here we are! It’s 2021 and The (Wo)Preneur’s Circle is finally here! It has taken me quite some time to rekindle the idea of this blog and how it is that I would positively feed your minds on a day to day basis. Now that we are here, I am sure of the type of impact I would like us all to have on each other’s lives. Let’s start this journey from the beginning shall we…

For those of you that are not familiar with me and what I do I want to present that opportunity of introduction first. So after you’ve read this welcome entry, please feel free to comment and introduce yourself to the circle! We will be here for a while after today!

Most of you that have migrated to this blog have come from my social handle @TheRealShaylaJ. My name is just that, Shayla J. I am a proud young black woman who at the age of 22, has made it quite clear what my intentions as a Woman Boss are! My journey began back in 2016 when I first moved to Atlanta, Georgia to start my life as a college student at The Illustrious Clark Atlanta University. Being as it may, the famous saying “College isn’t for everybody” would apply to me if I thought that was completely true, but it’s the total opposite. College was for me, but it just wasn’t the path that God created specifically for me. If you are still unsure of what I do, keep reading and just give me a sec I’m almost there.

Who am I? It’s more than simple. I aspire to be one of the top Woman Music Executives the music industry has ever seen. I want to be mogul to the women in the music industry. I want my label to be one of the most credible independent labels out there built from the bottom. Comparing where I was to where I am now, it has NEVER been an easy journey.

For the past 4 years, I have taken a lot of losses. I have been depressed, distressed, unmotivated, disconnected, distracted, thrown off, unsure of myself, completely and utterly disgusted with my progress, the list just seriously goes on and on! Does that sound like you? Does that remind you of the losses you’ve taken during the process? If it does, you’re definitely in the right place. But if I’m being completely honest, that was only about 30% of what my journey has been like because every win I’ve had in the process has outweighed every last one of those discrediting feelings. But we will get more into that on your next read..

What I would like to know is who you ladies are? Why are you here? What do you have to offer the world? What do you have to offer the other women here, reading this blog? What are you looking to gain from me? This blog is not just for you to read about me. It’s about us all. I started “The Circle” because that’s what we are going to call it to be a safe space for women entrepreneurs. It was created to encourage, network, build, and relate!
