Like music to my ears
I think this is so neat and to all my trans followers - if you ever need help remembering just how valid and real you are, please look at this!
Colorizing queer and trans history
Happy Trans Day of Visibility to you all, trans people have always existed and will always exist, you're valid and loved and completely accepted with me and I support and love you to the moon and back and beyond.
So, I reblogged this a sec ago and then started reading (bad habit, I know). Something Iâve noticed is 1. weâve been here far longer than people think. Trans people have existed for years and years and years. and 2. A lot of these people hit their 70s/80s. They were trans youth, adults, elders. Jackie Shane (1940-2019), colonel Amelio Robles Ăvila (1889-1984), StormĂ© DeLarverie (1920-2014), Christine Jorgensen (1926-1989), and a few more in this source alone.Â
We lived. We were alive. We live. We are alive.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility to you all, dear friends. We are alive<3

More links, PLEASE reblog or repost and add more resources: OHCHR - Iran: Women and girls treated as second class citizens, reforms urgently needed, says UN expert Iran: Where the regime opposes womenâs rights Read: The Wind In My Hair - My Fight For Freedom in Modern Iran by Masih Alinejad
Watch: Kiosk - Sweet Destiny (the movie) I donât think Iâve ever asked my followers to reblog anything but this time it would mean. The actual world. To the people of Iran. If you could spread awareness of the Iranian peopleâs fight for freedom right now. Iâm not on Twitter or Instagram (although this post is optimized for instagram so PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REPOST IT ON IG) but from what I could see there is not as much noise about this as it should be. Nor is it easy to find posts with resources and basic information. And on tumblr Iâve only seen some posts from dedicated feminist blogs or actual Iranians. And from what Iâve gathered they NEED US to share whatâs going on. They are shutting down internet in Iran so itâs up to us to not let the world look past this, not this time. PLEASE join the fight for womenâs rights!!!

if you think jk was the first woman author, you donât actually care about women authors.
Mary Shelley didnt fuck on her parents graves for this level of disrespect
Murasaki Shikibu didnât invent the novel for this.
Christine de Pizan did not sit down at her desk and write The Book of the City of Ladies, advocating for womenâs education and finding value in women of all social classes and backgrounds, in 1405 for this.
đ¶SHAHARIZADE HAD A THOUSAND TALESđ¶
ThisâŠâŠâŠ.isnât even true in 20th century fantasy or childrens books? Pierce, Lackey, Applegate, McCaffrey, Bradley, Butler, whomst?
Casual reminder that
a woman was the first known author/poet in 2300BC - Enheduanna
the first novel in recorded history was written by a woman in 1010AD - Murasaki Shikibu
the earliest example of science fiction was written by a woman in 1666 - Margaret Cavendish
horror science fiction was popularised by a teenage girl in 1818 - Mary Shelley
a Scotswoman expanded childrensâ stories from moralising tales into anarchic adventures in the mid 1800s, well before it became popular in the early 20th century - Catherine Sinclair
the masked/costumed hero archetype that inspired Batman and Zorro was created by a woman in 1905 - Baroness Emma Orczy
And while she is problematic as all get out, we all know who is to blame for popularising Boarding School fiction (which is a huge inspiration of She Who Must Not Be Named) from the 1930s onwards - Enid Blyton
And do I even need to mention what a badass pioneer Ursula Le Guin was for women author in the fantasy/sci-fi genre?
Not to mention Agatha Christie is literally second only to Shakespeare in terms of works sold â 4 billion compared to JKRâs paltry 500 millionÂ
Mary Shelly did what

âI was just a girl from Poland. But I wasnât afraid when I came here. It was like a big, beautiful machine to me. The energy, the madness of it. On my very first day I stood on the corner of Broadway and 44th Street. People were screaming and yelling. All of it was beautiful, even the bad stuff. Back home it had been so strict. Everything by the book. But here you had the freedom. Right away I was thinking: âThis is my city. I want to be a part of it.â I got my first job working at a delicious German bakery. I didnât speak any English. But I have a photographic memory. Anything I can see, I can do. I learn to make everything: the candies, the cookies. Even the perfect little Easter Bunnies. Then one day I see an advertisement in the New York Times. I opened right to the page: âSandlerâs Chocolate Shop for sale.â It felt like destiny. I do my research in the old way. For two weeks I stood across the street from the shop and counted all the people. Then I tell Mr. Sandler: I am ready to buy the store. I memorized the recipe of all the chocolates. I learned the taste of each of them. I have a thing for colors. When Iâm surrounded by colors, my whole body shakes. So I chose all the perfect colored boxes. My mother came to work with me every day. We fight, but âlove fight.â The fight of stupid things. We were very close. More like sisters. We knew everything that needed to be done, even without speaking. For 25 years we run the shop together. Sheâs been gone for seven years now. I miss her very much. And without her it is much more work, but I am trying my best. For 32 years this has been my normal life. Doing the chocolate and the cookies. It has always felt like normal thing to me. Like Iâm just one of millions. Ordinary girl doing her job. Thatâs the way I was thinking. But recently people are coming in here every day, they are saying: âYou cannot go down. We will miss you.â I never realize how much the people likes me, and this makes me extremely proud. Do you know what they say to me? All the people? They tell me: âKamila, we need you here.â Can you imagine that? Me, just a girl from Poland. They say: âYou are part of New York. The city needs you.ââ Like so many other business owners, Kamila fell into a giant sinkhole with her rent during the pandemic. She worked out a deal with her landlord, but still owes nearly $100,000. If anyone would like to help Kamila save her 32 year old business, Kamilaâs friends have created a GoFundMe for her: https://bit.ly/MyzelsChocolates Â
And if anyone would like to get New Yorkâs tastiest chocolates and candies for Valentines Day, you can visit Kamila at Myzelâs Chocolates on 140 W. 55th.

37 years after Barbra Streisand won the Golden Globe for Best Director, becoming the first woman to do so for her film Yentl, Streisand congratulates Chloé Zhao for becoming the second woman winner (and first woman of colour) for directing Nomadland.
Lainey Molnar
My favorite thing about this is that the âtraditionalâ woman isnât always on the left. By switching it up the artist is really committing to the idea that the right way for a woman to be is however she wants.
Just wish some of the women were plus size..
I really love how much Laineyâs art and positivity is bringing people joy and I really hope youâre checking out her insta, itâs full of so many more
It got better
Okay I havenât reblogged this addition
