Yesterday, the reining world lost one of it's greatest sires. Gallo Del Cielo passed away at the age of 26. Rooster will be missed by all, but he has left a lasting impact on the sport which he will always be remembered by.

I didn’t really work for them, I rode with them. They trained my horses and I sort of was part of the family. They let me ride a lot of other horses too, because they are the best people!

Ahhhh thank you! The McQuays are the best people. While I was there, I rode Hollywoodstinseltown, Smart And Shiny, Mr. Nicadual, Yellow Jersey, Shiney Enterprise, Dun It On A Star, Always Gotyer Gunsup, Hollywood Gotta Gun, Gunners Tinseltown and so many more!! They were so kind, and always approached everything with a "you aren't going to break them" sort of air. If you ever want to chat about it I would love to! It was the best 2 years (to be continued) of my horse riding life!

Hi! I'm looking in to travelling to the USA for a holiday and wanted to go at the best time to watch the reining (and cutting if it's around the same time!). Where would be a good place to go to see and learn more about reining? :)

Probably the best time to visit is during the NRHA Futurity, which runs the end of November through the beginning of December. It’s the biggest show in the NRHA for sure! You will be able to watch many days of very good reining and enjoy a lot of fun celebration too! The other event that is my personal favorite is the NRBC, which is mid-April. It’s a little farther south in Texas, but is at a beautiful facility and frankly I think is the most spectator and exhibitor friendly show out there! Of course, if you have specific questions, I would be very happy to answer them for you! Just throw me a message and we can chat! I love talking to people about reining!

Personal horses update!  Jesse is Mr. Perfect as always. We showed for the first time in 3 years yesterday and we scored 70.5 and tied for 3rd in the Non Pro. Typically, he -1/2ed the right turn around, but if I had trusted him to actually slow down in the first circle like he usually does and if he hadn’t set up to the last stop we could have scored a 72, which is pretty darn impressive in my mind. He is the exact same horse I walked out of the pen on 3 years ago. Gotta love my perfect bay horse.  Desdemona has improved so much in just the last few months since I’ve gotten back from England. She is practically a real reiner now. Her spins are the only thing that still need a lot of work. She hasn’t gotten a lot of stopping practice since we are in my mother’s jumper ring all the time, but she did a paid warm up at the show and she stopped huge! She has also matured a ton mentally. She is still more like a 3 year old reiner than a 6 year old, but 8 months ago she was totally unbroke so I think she’s made such great progress!

Wishing a speedy recovery to Iceman (SG Frozen Enterprize) who was POISONED at Reining By The Bay on Saturday. Hopefully he recovers fully, although his owners are saying it might end his show career. Sickening.

I haven’t posted in literally like a year. I know. I’m a terrible blog owner. But school/horses/work/friends have been keeping me busy so here is my return! The extremely stocky and handsome Not Ruf At All!

So, exciting news!  This is my new horse, Hollywood Chicaway! She is a 5 year old black mare, by Hollywood Vintage and out of Chic Out The Diamond, by Smart Chicaway. She is very green, and has only been ridden about 20 times. But she shows a lot of promise, and I can't wait to start working with her! Can't believe I own a mare... Of all the things! A mare! Oh well.

But I need your help! Because she is, in fact, a she, I do not have a stockpiled name for her! That's where all of you come in!

Right now, she is called "Holly", which is one option. Other suggestions are Arya, Nymeria, Desdemona (Dezzie), Estella, Hermia (Mia), Dorigen (Dori), Stella, Ocyrrhoe, Veillantif, Lily, and anything else you can come up with! 

As you see, I like nerdy names, but pretty, normal names are good as well! So, any name suggestions?

This is one of my uncle's horses - he's a nice, sweet gelding. Great horse for someone looking to get into the reining. He's priced right for the Green - Rookie levels, so he will be able to keep up as you progress.
