Pursuing The Other Sex: Guys
No matter what day in age it is, I still believe men are the pursuers. In the wild, men parade around performing mating dances to impress their female pursuits. In the Renaissance era, men read poems to women who sat upon tree branches (or so Iâd like to believe)âŠ
Fast forward to 2018, things are a little different than they used to be, and I donât think things have changed for the better.
Iâve been single for the better part of a year now, and Iâve had my fair share of awkward exchanges with guys out at bars and clubs that were supposed to be sexy and spontaneous moments of flirting and phone number swapping. Hereâs where guys go wrong, and I must give them the benefit of the doubt because it does take an incredible amount of courage to go up and talk to someone you donât knowâŠ
1. Guys see a girl they like the look of, and then they pounce without any inkling that the girl feels the same way about them. Feel it out and take note of body language.
2. Guys have a tendency to overdo it with the compliments. âYou look really niceâ is good enough, but carry on with conversation after that. Too many compliments comes off eager and a little sleazy.
3. Guys donât ask the right questions. Donât get too deep when your sitting in a bar trying to have a good night, but make it known they youâre interested in her. Ask what her favorite things to do around the city are or what she likes to do in her free time. Keep it light.
4. The sob story sucks. Do not go on about how you were cheated on last week, how you were fired today, and how youâre going to your grandmaâs funeral tomorrow. You bring the mood of the night, and tbh sheâs not going to believe a word youâre saying because youâre probably lying. LOL. And, if youâre not lying, what are you doing?! Why are you telling a beautiful stranger about your tragedies when they havenât earned the right to hear about them?! Good vibes ONLY!
These are only a few of the many things I have witnessed that guys do to pick up girls. Look, dating isnât easy, and in fact, it fucking bites, but please take something from this post because Iâve seen these very things in action and Iâve seen them fail more times than theyâve succeeded.
