There had always been a feeling over that her past would catch up to her somehow. After the attack that happened once in Shafter, there had been a part of her that knew her father knew where she was. And while she did not know how much trouble he could bring to the town, Viper did not want to risk anyone else getting caught in the fallout of whatever would go down.

Mistletoe: Muse A and B meet under the mistletoe. - for tarren / lets fluster the boy

Tarren was happily bounding around the party as he was wont to do, even Quinn couldn’t keep up with him, choosing to stay along the wall and watch things unfold. Tarren started through a doorway and almost smacked into Nita.“Oops, sorry!” He laughed, quickly getting distracted by some people hooting and hollering at them.‘Look up Tiger.’ Quinn said telepathically.“Huh?” He glanced up in confusion. “Oh! Mistletoe!” He beamed back at Nita, lifting his hands to cup her face and plant a firm kiss to her cheek before starting to sidle around her, calling that he’d be back.

Nita laughed and shook her head bringing her glass to her lips. “I’m doing okay, mostly” she shrugged reaching for the snack platter. “I want you to know that I’m kinda glad you dragged me out, and” she bit into the pickle and gestured to the mistletoe “Don’t worry about the kiss, consider it harmless” she teased.

“Oh I know, I know, it’s just for fun. I’m glad you’re having a good time though, I’m so happy you’re getting out more with the rest of us, you were so closed up for awhile!” he said, a beaming smile on his face.

Nita shrugged, toying with her drink tab. "It comes and goes, sometimes I just need to be alone" Nita smiled, shrugging off the darkness of the last few weeks. It would come back, it always did but for now, she would pretend. For Tarren, she would try at the very least to look like she was having a good time.

Tarren let out a surprised yelp when Nita pulled him back, blushing a little at the kiss, his smile closer to a grimace as he shot a guilty look over to Quinn. He smirked a little and shrugged his shoulders and Tarren’s smile returned a hundred-fold.

He followed after Nita for a moment, enveloping her in a hug. “How are you doing?” he asked, his gaze dropping to the soda in her hand. He was happy to see her drinking it, taking care of herself.

Nita laughed, already buzzed almost falling back into old habits. But Nita was trying to keep a four drink minimum, having already switched to a soft drink. It was new years though and she figured no one would care too much. And for the first christmas season in god, she couldn't even remember how long Nita didn't feel miserable or quite so bitter about the world.

So with a mischevious grin as their coworkers booed at his boring kiss. Nita pulled Tarren back "nu uh, you know the rules about mistletoe. No cheaping out," she teased before kissing Tarren properly. "There, a proper kiss."

Nita laughed and turned back to the kitchen to grab some party snacks. Deliberately moving away from the table stacked with booze.
