“I wasn’t saying you –” Ted got quiet and shook his head. “The food’s not so bad but muggle pubs have a better selection. ”
“I didn’t have the pleasure.” he lied, avoiding stating an opinion in that case due to objectivity. He was the Advisor to the Minister, after all, and he had a reputation to keep up. “This sort of occupations, in general, isn’t my recommendation, frankly.”
Sean merely listened intently, intrigued at the mention of an invitation, indicative of the way his brows rose in interest. Generally a personal invitation meant big things. The Irishman nodded his understanding of not being able to divulge details there and then. Hogwarts wasn’t exactly a safe place for such topics of discussion, he knew. He did value his position, the access it granted him. “When shall I be expected, sir? ”
“I have a free afternoon next Sunday. I recommend you help me put it into good use.” his stern voice rang through the room again, sounding more like an order than a recommendation, and he nodded in good-bye before turning on his heels and exiting the other man’s office. He usually would have made Rabastan or another Death Eater professor deliver the message, but he knew that one was particularly important and Sean needed to see it as such too.
“I can pick my own people,” Abaddon said, “I would rather not deal with the… messy… young ones or the slow ones. Dependable, stable, and restrained.” He detested the mess the newer Death Eaters left in their wake, uncaring of exposure .
“I figured you’d be capable of that, at least.” he nodded approvingly, only half serious, just before having a frown cover his face. “Weren’t we all young once? Though I can’t help but agree to some extent, I ask you, Abaddon, to be more considerate to my Death Eaters and remember they aren’t all talentless. Take the oldest Black, for instance.”
“Generally students like to come bother me at this time.” Sean stated apathetically. An eyebrow quirked at the Dark Lord’s query. “Well, yer already ‘ere so by all means-” He gestured to the space around the office where there were a few places to sit. “Make yerself comfortable.” Sean waited for the other man before situating himself nearby and giving him his full attention.
“It wouldn’t have been the sort of information you include in a letter if you value your position anyway.” Tom admitted, in a tone that implied that he actually considered owling the other man, instead of saying it orally, though he never did, for one moment. “It is an invitation, actually.” he cleared it out. “To bring some closure to some of our... projects. You’ll be thrilled to hear the elaboration, but for now, there is nothing I can say further than that. I believe it’s not the time, and you have made it clear that you’re not welcoming guests at the moment. It’s perfectly fine.”
Whenever Bellatrix enters her Lord’s presence, engaging him in conversation, she always feels validation and kinship. The man fully comprehends her need for violence, retribution, suffering–yet he’s also her superior and elder, meaning he has the knowledge and experience to shed new perspective on her volatile means of living from day to day. Her face smooths out as she genuinely considers his words and finds the truth in them. “A final act of torture, forcing them to live with their ineptitude rather than end their miserable lives,” Bellatrix intones as she comes to terms with the concept. “I will have to make certain Eris and I recall this in the future. She is the half that remains more objective when tormenting toys.”
Knowing the value of Bellatrix and just what she expects and likes to be told made getting under her skin inexplicably easy for Voldemort, considering that she was one of the toughest people his eyes ever lied on. Yet, it was a trick he has been performing as wholeheartedly as the first time they met to constantly win her over. For what reasons he was so meticulous about the words he said to her when she was already the loyalest Death Eater one could wish for, he didn’t exactly know, but it came naturally to him. Almost as if he didn’t mean to manipulate her rather than match his own behavior with her worth. “It’s almost art, when you think about it.” he grinned fully, pleased that she didn’t talk back. “I am, however, not asking you to be objective. Make them bleed as subjectively as you fancy as long as you leave them breathing. Only barely, if needed, of course."

Felix normally tries his best not to let the manners of others get to him. But after an eighteen hour shift and multiple training sessions, he’s exhausted. “Sir, I wonder if you noticed the board on the door that notes this room as a temporary quarters and break room. Unlike the offer departments, this is not only a place where coffee is consumed, but where Aurors who pull off active-shifts of nearly a day conscious can rest.”
“Does the evilness of the world take breaks as often as you do, I may ask?” Tom inquired dramatically, knowing that the auror’s reasoning was within common sense, but at the same time imagining that he could build a strong case to take down the man. One less auror meant always nothing other than one less problem for him and the Death Eaters, after all. “I am not your enemy, but rest is more than you can afford at times. We need the best and the most effective people we can get. How do they call you, auror?”

“Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?”
“Was I suggesting anything at all? Pardon me, all I was doing was reading the menu, though no, I can’t say I recommend any of what is on it.”
