Still on Hiatus
My dad died on the 29th and my sister & I are stuck with the brunt of planning and coordinating the memorial. I had already planned not to be back until season 3 resumed, but right now I canât even wrap my head around my most active blogs so the hiatus might stretch on even longer
my dad passed away friday night so hiatus is indefinite. Iâll still check in once in a while but yeah donât expect much.

Youâre an emotional jigsaw at the moment, but youâre gonna piece yourself back together. You know, start with the corners. Look for the blue bits.

Happy Christmas, Jemma. Hopefully this next year we get a little more time together.
Jemmaâs mouth dropped open in shock when she opened the box, then split into a wide grin. âOh, Jasper, itâs beautiful!â she cried. Throwing her arms around him, she peppered his cheeks  with kisses before finally favoring his lips. âYou darling man, I canât believe it. And what fun! I feel a bit silly for my gift, now.â
The sets of cufflinks she had for him were homemade but no less well-intended. She only hoped her intuition that Jasper would enjoy the whimsical but austere dress pieces would be to his tastes -- which was why sheâd made so many different colors.
mini semi-hiatus until further notice: Iâm too damn busy with work and family and christmas to have jemma muse on top of my other blogs. Iâll reply to things highly selectively and scarcely.
pastyfitz:
Fitz smiled and looked up at her. âI love you too, Jemma.â He sat up just enough to press a kiss under her chin and went back to resting his head on her boob. âI like your pregnant boobs.â He laughed a bit and snuggled his cheek against it.Â
His fingers went back to tracing little hearts on her stomach. This baby was going to be the one. It had to be. This was going to be the baby that would make their family and marriage completely perfect again.Â
She snorted. âYou like my boobs regardless of pregnancy,â Jemma reminded him with fingers carded affectionately in his curls, then pressed four quick kisses to his temple.  Oh, she loved him. Loved how he drew little shapes and hearts on her skin, loved the feeling of his head resting on her breast, loved how much he loved her and loved their family.
It was a lot of pressure, knowing that this was likely their last chance to have another baby. Jemma was no longer a spring chicken and her condition only got worse with each passing year. That was a lot of pressure to put on the poor little baby, too. âWeâll get it right this time, wonât we?â she asked softly.
theforsakenastronaut:
âI forgot how bossy you are,â Will said with a chuckle. The longer Jemma kept her hand on him, the more he relaxed. He drank the rest of the glass of water to appease the woman. But the more relaxed and the more he drank, the more he realised just how thirsty he actually was.
When Jemma asked if she could hug him, he couldnât deny her. He had held her every time before they went to sleep on the other planet, and he missed her in his arms. He stood up from the bed, wrapping his arms around the womanâs slight frame and pulling her towards him. His weathered cheek pressed against her soft one. He had been allowed to actually shave when he showered earlier, so his beard was trimmed down a lot nicer than when he had to snip it with his tiny scissors.
Will was instantly surrounded in Jemmaâs scent once again: her shampoo and a hint of body mist. âI missed you so much,â he murmured, one of his hands stroking her back in his familiar calming motion, not wanting to see Jemma cry.
Jemma grinned sadly at him. âIâm bossy because I care, you goose,â she mock-scolded as he wrapped his arms around her into the warmest, firmest, most encompassing hug sheâd ever experienced. Sheâd nearly forgotten just how tall Will was until now, arms locked around his middle. Then she released one hand and reached up to rest it on the nape of his neck. She stroked the soft hairs there.
âI missed you too, Will.âÂ
Her voice was hushed, muted with emotion as she held him. âI was so afraid Iâd never see you again,â she blurted out, hands closing tight around the gathers in his shirt. His beard was softer than expected against her cheek. âOh, but -- are you really alright? Let me look at you again, just to be sure.â
If you think Fitz would ever be Hydra, youâre wrong
pastyfitz:
âNah, donât be sorry. It was three years ago. Iâve completely moved on. Been focusing on my career instead.â He shrugged a bit. âAnd she did really care for me. I think she would have stayed with me if I had asked, but I didnât want her to be unhappy with me when she could be happy in some random country, seeing all kinds of things.âÂ
He laughed a bit at himself. âNow that Iâve said three years out loud, it makes me sound kinda pathetic that I havenât had a date in three years.â Nobody who has passed through had been interesting enough. âI suppose living in a small village makes that difficult and I am a wee bit too old to be meeting people at pubs.â
âWell, Iâm certain sheâs missing out on a lovely time,â insisted Jemma gently. âBut, on the other hand, more for me.â She laughed at herself and blushed bright enough to signal aircraft. How could she say something like that on the first date? Though if it made him feel more confident, all the better. It was a real shame about the girl, though. Maybe she and Fitz could be friends, if she ever came back.
God, even imagining going out to pubs to meet people had her skin crawling. âMaybe if I were about seven years younger Iâd enjoy going out to the pub, but Iâm too exhausted to go grocery shopping some days, let alone to spend all that money on the hopes that someone else will buy me a drink. I became a bit of a shut-in after I had Alex, but Iâm still rather surprised we never met before he started school. Unless you donât live in Perthshire itself, but a bit outside. My work isnât here, itâs in Perth proper, and when my ex moved out he moved to Dundee, just far enough away to not worry about us running into each other. Yet I still worry heâs going to shot up at the hospital. Iâm at Murray Royal, by the way, if youâre ever gravely wounded with a paper cut.â
pastyfitz:
Fitz wasnât entirely sure he understood the concept of a push present, even after Jemma explained it. A present for having a baby seemed like a weird concept. Maybe marriage or child support would make more sense? A house? But maybe that was becoming an old fashioned concept.Â
âWell, if I could, I would have a child by now. I thought I was going to marry Daisy, but she had other plans. Sheâs a few years younger and wanted to see the world after university and wasnât ready to settle down in some little village in Scotland.â This wasnât something he usually told people just after meeting them, but heâs never been on a date with a woman who was married before, so he felt like explaining his own situation.Â
The amused self-deprecating smile on Jemmaâs face fell instantly when she realized he was still carrying a torch for this Daisy woman. Was she just a rebound? How long ago had they been together, and was she stepping on another womanâs territory by going out with someone she may or may not come back for someday? Then again, if she had willingly walked away, it must have been clear that he was free to see other people.
âOh, god, Iâm so sorry,â she said apologetically. âThough, really, if she had truly care about you she would have stayed, and you could have made plans to see the world during the summer holidays. Together. Wouldnât she? Besides, who doesnât love Scotland? Iâve known since I was a little girl that I wanted to live here.â
pastyfitz:
Fitz quickly walked ahead of Jemma out to his car so he could open the door for her, like the polite gentleman his mother taught him to be. When she was inside the car, he went around to his side and joined her.Â
âI havenât been on a date since my last girlfriend. So we can be a bit off, together.â He laughed a bit at himself and started the car up. The fact that it had been a while for him was a main reason why he wanted this to be a good date. A dinner and a movie wasnât impressive and he needed to be impressive.Â
âOh, bloody hell, I just remembered that my last date was technically what the American are now calling a âpush present,ââ Jemma started giggling after a few moments of contemplative silence. âItâs like a âthanks for doing all the hard work in having the baby, how about dinner and a film?â sort of thing. It was five years ago, just after Alex was born, good lord, we didnât split up until he was three! Thatâs so pathetic!â
With an unladylike snort, she fastened her seatbelt and let them be off. âOh, Iâm sorry, I oughtnât have mentioned that at all, Iâm just giddy to be out with another adult for a change.â She turned her head to face him as they drove. âI donât suppose you have children, do you, Fitz? Er -- what am I thinking, of course you donât, youâve probably got your life in much better order than I have.â
How long has the mun been roleplaying?

pastyfitz:
Fitz let her guide him into her home. âYou call this clutter?â He made a mental note to clean up his home before even thinking about inviting her over. It wasnât bad, but if she thought this was untidy, sheâd have a heart attack just as she went through the door. âBut yeah, Iâve heard something like that. Though I havenât experienced it first hand. Itâs just been my mum and me since I was a kid. Never met my dadâs family.â Not that he wanted to. They were probably all losers like his non-existent father.Â
It probably wasnât a good idea to bring up his daddy issues on the first date so he quickly diverted the conversation to answering her question about the date. âItâs called Fern Cottage. Itâs a small little restaurant, not far from the forest. I made sure we got a reservation.â He had never been before, but he hoped it was as romantic as the pictures made it look.Â
âBut we should get going so weâre not late!â
Oh. That was actually rather sweet, if it was just him and his mum. Jemma felt a bit bad for thinking he was immature for going out to have dinner with the woman, now, but at least she hadnât said it aloud back then. âThatâs right, and you went to dinner with her last week, after fixing my tyre,â she recalled, trying to show she had a good memory for details. âI hope she didnât give you a hard time for that spot of grit you had on your face when we parted ways. I was in such a bother, I forgot to mention.â
She followed him out to the waiting car, trying to remember if she had ever been to Fern Cottage. It sounded very twee, didnât it? Climbing into the passenger seat, she waited until he had rounded to his side before speaking again.
âI donât mean to start things off awkwardly, but Iâll have you know that I havenât been on a date in quite a few years,â she revealed with a conspiratorial smile. âIf Iâm a bit off, Iâm just getting my sea legs back under me, and all that.â
