Dear Future Rowan
Dear Me, 5 Years From Now,
Five years doesn’t really seem like that far away. However, to me, it feels like a life time away. By the time you read this letter, you will have been away from your family for about 7 years. You miss them. Part of you wants to move back to Ireland and be with them. Run back to them with your tail between your legs, but hopefully you haven’t done so by then.
You belong in LA. Regardless if you’re still bartending at The Burlesque Lounge or if Bayoa has convinced you to join the theatre, you belong there. You can feel it underneath your skin, like a slight crawling feeling. The people and all the energy they hold, you love it there. If you’ve left, go back for a visit. i’m sure people there have missed you.
I hope, in the future, you may have been able to convince your sister and your father that they should leave Ireland and come to LA. At the very least, hopefully they’ve come to visit you a few times. If not, if you’re still in LA and you haven’t seen them in years, get off your ass and go visit them. You love them and sometimes all you need is your family.
Best and good luck,
Rowan Burke
