In a time of war and discovery on the foreign planet Nexus, lives are changed, treasures discovered and battles fought. Through it all, only the most extreme of bad-asses come out on top. From the hungry flames rises the skull-cracking cupcakes, ascending from the ashes. Radical ballads with sick guitar licks are written about these blood pumping heroes and sung drunkenly in bars far and wide for years to come. They're passed on in stories for generations, elders telling their children of those who blazed their way to glory in a shower of bullets.
...This is not one of those stories.
Currently, Captain Archinaya was slung over the shoulder, like a sack of potatoes, of the bounty hunter that had taken her at gun point from the ship. He was also, much to the captain's annoyance, one of the biggest chatterboxes she had ever encountered. From the moment he flew off with her and the couple hours it had taken them to make this far, near his secret base, the man had been prattling on nonstop.
"...And that is how I came to all of those life decisions and was hired to sneak on your ship! Pretty great, huh? I mean, the job really isn't all that glam, but I like to think that I'm good at it. Oh man! We're almost at my place. Just you wait, my mom makes the best pizza rolls ever! You gotta be careful though, cause the cheese is like lava!" It didn't stop.
Archie's expression was one of intense annoyance with her brows drawn sharply together and a deep frown on her lips. She was on her last straw. The first strike was waking her up in the middle of night. Second, being held at gunpoint. And third was the fact that she was being flown about while in her pjs. Flannel ones with prancing rowsdower on them to be precise.
Solid ground was finally coming into view as he was starting to lower down. It looked like they were out somewhere in remote Algoroc. She could work with that. His heavy boots touched down with a thud and the jetpack turned off. He yanked the captain off his shoulder to set her down before him, but she stumbled and back onto her butt with a groan.
"Real smooth!" Saying she was cranky would be putting it lightly.
"Oh geeze, sorry!" The bounty hunter bumbled and crouched down to give her a hand up.
Archinaya grasped his hand, but instead of hoisting herself up, she used her full weight to yank him forward onto the ground. Narrowly missing the toppling heap of armor, she sidestepped the man and gave a swift kick to a soft spot in the side of his armor. That earned her a moment or two and a groan. The gangly women then bent down and snatched the gun that hung from his belt and aimed it at his head.
"Aww, man..." He looked up at her and moaned.
"Oh, what? Don't like having a gun pointed at your face? Not so fun, ain't it?" She was one hundred and one percent done with this nonsense. "Now, what do you know about the relic?"
"I swear, I don't know --" He was cut off promptly as she fired a shot between his eyes, permanently silencing him.
Archinaya tossed the gun to the ground beside the body and massaged her temples with an irritated sigh, "Should've gone into that pastry business, bud." She prodded him with her bunny slipper clad foot, turning the body over to see if he had anything of use on him. It wasn't a complete loss as she pulled a communicator, a sizable bag of coins and a sweet pair of shades off of him.
"Nice." She slipped the shades on and grinned. Next, she sent a quick text to Linden and Nate, informing them that she was fine and that she would be taking a nice vacation for the next several days. Included were instructions to not tell her crew. She was going to milk this.
Whistling an upbeat, jaunty little tune to herself, Archinaya pocketed the device and coins and began her trek to the nearest town as the sun began to rise.
