The Daily Prophet; June 1
The Dark Mark was seen flying over Sussex; a Ministry of Magic investigation confirmed the death of a family of muggles. The youngest child, who had seemingly reported magical abilities, is still missing.
The Daily Prophet can confirm that Rodolphus Lestrange was seen punching his younger brother outside of The Leaky Cauldron. When asked for more information, the Lestrange family declined to comment.
The Nott/Burke engagement party, held in the Nott gardens, did not disappoint. From the ever-moving magical maze to the delightful entertainment, the evening was seemingly a smashing success. Witnesses to a conversation between the elder Nott and the young Miss Greengrass lead the Prophet to believe that perhaps it will not be the first engagement party held at the Nott Estate this year. Notable mention: Narcissa Black is still missing a bauble on a very particular finger.
The St. Mungo’s Gala was nearly as tedious as it always is, though donors seemed pleased to be invited to the exclusive event. The Prophet has to wonder, however, if St. Mungo’s might not need such donations if it did not throw such a lavish event.
The Wilkes’ annual Garden Party was held at the Wilkes estate in Yorkshire. Experts from the British Wizarding Horticultural Society acknowledged being impressed by the size of the blooms but even more so by the size of the canapes. The Wilkes’ only daughter, Violet, was missing for much of the event; friends of the family noted that her absence was disappointing for many of the eligible young bachelors attending. Notably absent: Bellatrix Lestrange.
Coraline Parkinson & Rabastan Lestrange: yet again, the couple attended an event together. Though, if one were watching them as the Nott/Burke engagement party, one may have noticed a distinct lack of attachment.
Violet Wilkes & Richard Selwyn: the better question is where haven’t they been seen? After the two were seen traveling to Spain [WW wonders if there was even a chaperone?] and attending several events together, one would be forgiven for asking if an announcement would be made by the end of the season.
Hazel Fawley & Rabastan Lestrange: the day after he was seen with Miss Parkinson, the former pulled the latter away at the St. Mungo’s gala and engaged him in a conversation. Has Miss Fawley ensnared the younger Lestrange away from Miss Parkinson?
Rosalind Selwyn: overheard discussing broken betrothals. Given her friendship with Narcissa Black, could she be planning something similar?
Lucius Malfoy & Coraline Parkinson: the two were seen arguing in a robe shop in Diagon Alley. Witnesses reported loud tones and insults unfit for print from both parties.
Henry Sayre & Emerson Yaxley: upon the latter’s return from Belize, witnesses reported a hug that was not entirely proper. Perhaps their friendship is not as platonic as they would have the public believe.
Bellatrix Lestrange & Charles Avery: these two were seen having a rather pleasant conversation at the Nott/Burke engagement party. One has to wonder just what these two have to discuss other than the obvious.
Hazel Fawley & Narcissa Black: with smiles on their faces, it appears that a new friendship has been struck.
Violet Wilkes & Evan Rosier: seen talking at the Nott/Burke engagement party, though it appeared that the latter caused Miss Wilkes some form of upset, if her narrowed eyes and glacial expression were any indication.
Ava Nott: though she was dressed beautifully at her engagement party, her smile did not quite reach her eyes. Is young Ava not excited about her match? With the rumors about who she’s promised to, we at WW can’t exactly blame her.
Hazel Fawley & Evan Rosier: seen exiting a closed off portion of the Wilkes Gardens with unkempt hair and clothing that was askew. Were they simply helping the gardeners?
Isla Rosier & Violet Wilkes: the two were seen having a pleasant tea together in Diagon Alley. What would Miss Rosier’s cousins say?
Lucius Malfoy & Narcissa Black: looking less than pleased at the Nott/Burke engagement party. Trouble in paradise, perhaps?
Tristan Nott & Octavius Burke: seen having a chat inside the latter’s shop that did not exactly look too friendly. Could there be bad blood between the soon-to-be brothers-in-law?
Richard Selwyn & Charles Avery: witnesses place the two arguing outside of Avery Appliances. Could it have anything to do with Charles’ closeness to Henry Sayre? Has Richard been holding out on us?
Rodolphus Lestrange & Rabastan Lestrange: seen arguing in The Leaky Cauldron; a well-placed right hook left Mr. Lestrange the younger looking markedly down and out.
Octavius Burke & Rosalind Selwyn: seen speaking in hushed tones at the Wilkes Garden Party; the latter made a very dramatic exit when they had finished.
Evan Rosier & Maida Flint: seen talking at the St. Mungo’s gala. Does Miss Flint have a new target in her sights?
Notably missing from sight: Briar Avery missed many events this month; has the stress finally caught up to her?
