So, Particles of Food just vanish upon contact?
“W-Well... I guess so?”
How do you eat?
“....Like anyone else? With my mouth. It’s invisible, dee.”
Sailor had managed to report for his duties on time despite his lack of sleep from the terrible night he had. Which clearly showed with how slow he seemed to be working today. Poor guy...
His employer noticed this idly as he made his usual rounds, but chose not to approach him about it at first, hoping maybe there would be improvement as the day went on. It was only a few hours into the work day that he approached the sailor, luckily at a time when there were few other crew members around.
“Sailor, are you alright?” he asked softly. He’d assumed the other’s below-average performance had been due only to a lack of sleep, but looking closer, it seemed as if something more was troubling the waddle dee. He didn’t have his usual pep, even considering he was tired.
He was a little disappointed when the mask was lowered, though it didn’t take him too long to realize how lost he had been in his emotions. They were in a situation where anyone could see them so close together… still, he couldn’t help but be a bit sad that the moment couldn’t have lasted longer.
“Much better, dee. Thank you so much for helping me feel better.” He answered, going back to sitting normally now and starting to eat the parfait Meta had given him.
“Por supuesto,” the larger of the two spoke with sincerity evident in his tone. “I am here for you whenever you need me, always,” he promised. “Please remember that. You needn’t face anything like this alone again.”
“You’re the best, Meta.” He answered with a happy twinkle in his eyes. “I feel so lucky to know you…” He told the other, then returning to eat more of the treat the knight had given him.
“…And to share this tasty treat with you!”
“And I feel the same,” the swordsman returned the sentiment. “If it’s alright with you, though,” he lowered his voice to a hushed murmur, “I would rather keep the dessert a secret.” He was, as was often the case in Sailor’s presence, thankful he had a mask to hide both the look on his face and the hint of blush creeping into it.
"If that’s what you wish, your secret’s safe with me, dee.“ He whispered back, so no others would hear.
“Promise.”

The negative thoughts that had been with him today started to fade as Meta embraced him back. It felt so nice… so comforting… he felt like he could be held in these arms forever…
He sighs softly and leaves a kiss on Meta’s mask, a little lost in his emotions.
“Meta… I love you…” He murmured.
The words caught the armsmaster completely off-guard, but he was more than glad to hear them.
“Te amo,” he murmured back, his voice low and his tone tender. “I love you too.” He badly wanted to ask if the dee would repeat the action without the mask in the way, but he restrained himself. He would not place any sort of pressure on the other to do anything physical. Instead, he took one of Sailor’s hands in his own, lifted his mask just enough, and kissed it.
His cheeks become red at the kiss Meta gives his nub, his eyes twinkling now with joy and comfort now instead of looking tired and hurt.
He’s a little surprised with himself that he had outright said those three words without much thought beforehand, but he was happy he had. He too would love to kiss Meta’s now exposed mouth, but the want to do so is being battled by nervousness. He inched a tiny bit closer, just a little too shy to go for it.

It was late in the day by the time the knight joined his employee in the mess hall, which had mostly cleared out by that time and was left nearly empty. He held two large glasses in his hands, their contents identical. He set one down and pushed it toward the dee before seating himself. The glasses seemed to contain frozen desserts of some sort, with both chocolate and vanilla ice creams piled on top of fruit slices, with bits of pastries mixed on.
“Lo siento,” he said softly. “I’m still not completely familiar with your tastes, but these things help me a little when I’m not in good spirits. I thought I might share this with you.”
“Thanks, Meta… It looks delicious…” Sailor would offer up a grateful smile if he could. His eyes couldn’t do the job this time in portraying that, still looking rather hurt. At least he wasn’t tired anymore.
“Thank you for letting me take the rest of the day off too, dee… everything went alright after I stopped working, yes?”
“Si,” the knight confirmed. “Everything was taken care of.” It was at this point he made an effort to look the dee in the eyes. He wanted to convey the sincerity of his next words, and he was not the most skilled in doing so with tone of voice alone.
“I want you to know the person who said those things to you was wrong, Sailor. You know that, don’t you?” He searched the others’ eyes.
“I…I do, yes…” He answered softly as he looked back into Meta’s golden eyes.
“I-I just don’t like to be reminded of… w-what could’ve happened… and… some of the things they said…. I will admit, were things t-that ran threw my mind… when I first came aboard here. How could I not? A s-small waddle dee working among all these strong, valiant knights… I don’t think like that much at all nowadays, but b-being told those thoughts were true… a-and of what almost happened…” His voice trails off.
“You are your own individual,” the puff said with reassuring but firm emphasis, placing a gloved hand on the dee’s shoulder. “No one can ever take that away from you. And as for the incident, I…” he faltered and dropped his gaze away, less sure what to say about that. To this day, that event haunted him. The remorse he felt at what his actions caused was without end.
“I can’t bear the thought of what might have happened,” he said, finally and honestly. “No apology I could give you would ever be enough, but… I’m sorry. And I’m honored to still have you here despite it.”
He’s silent for a moment, taking in Meta’s words, before moving in and hugging him gently.
He doesn’t say anything, a little at a loss for words. He didn’t wish for Meta to begin to dwell on what happened like he had after the insults were thrown at him. Now it seemed like he was in need of comforting too, having been reminded of such a horrific event. Even if Sailor felt upset about what had been said to him the night prior, his loyal nature and love shined through all of that to try and comfort Meta.

"It's n-nothing dee. Is everything ok?" The dee asked handing the piece of strawberry cake to sailor dee. A few more were outside his room. They all seemed worried about sailor dee.
The Sailor seemed rather surprised at all the dees outside his door, eyes widening as he took the slice of cake.
“I... Well... I’ll be alright with time, dee...”.

“Oh! Meta….” He snapped out of his thoughts, turning to the knight when he addressed him.
He looked sad and tired, something clearly upsetting him. He sighs, thinking of how to explain this. Should he really be feeling this upset over a couple insults from people he didn’t even know? It was hard not to be… especially being told maybe he wouldn’t be made fun of if he had died in Orange Ocean….
“I just… I had a bad night, dee… I didn’t sleep so well… And people were insulting me… b-badly… a lot…”
Indignation flared up within the larger of the two at this news.
“Who?” he demanded, maybe a little more harshly than he meant to, but it was purely out of protectiveness over his cherished one. Bullying was not something he tolerated, especially toward those who weren’t able to stand up for themselves and would take it to heart.
“What did they say?”
“I… I don’t know.. they were anonymous…. I… T-They… They took my hat away from me, and put it out of my reach on a high shelf, dee… They told me I wasn’t special at all, that only my “ugly hat” made me different…. They…”
He’s quivering now, the anon’s harsh words ringing in his head. He’s doing everything he can to not start crying again, but he’s unable to keep himself from sniffling.
“….T-They said that it w-would have been better if I had d-died in Orange Ocean… so no one would have t-to insult me…”
Meta Knight fell silent.
His first instinct–and it was a powerful one–was to fly straight to the lowlife who dared say such things with his own wings, draw his sword, and…
Well. Fortunately for them, he couldn’t do that. Instead, all he could do was make his best effort to channel not rage, which would do no one any good, but sympathy and compassion, as that was what was needed at the moment.
“Take the rest of the day off,” he ordered, gently but firmly. “Rest. I’ll meet you in the mess hall when I can.”
“O-Okay... I-I will see you later then...” He replied back in a shaky voice, hurrying off to catch a well deserved nap for now.
After he had woken up, a couple hours later, he decided to wait just a bit more till work hours were to make way to the mess hall. There, he waited for the knight. He felt a little better, now that he had been allowed some time to rest, but the words still rang in his head and stung him.
The Hat isn’t what makes you, all it does is distinct you from the rest, gives people an idea of what you’re meant to represent, YOU are what makes you Unique, You don’t need a simple hat to feel that it’s your only sense of Purpose, Your Bravery, Loyalty, Love for another, is what makes you a real Sailor, a real Member of something bigger, a REAL friend…

“O-Oh, wow....”
If Sailor could show the other a smile at their words, he would. Although the look in his eyes said it all.
“T-Thank you, dee...”
