“BRAVO photographer Fryderyk Gabowicz watched as the superstar arrived at the ‘Formel eins’ studio and calmly signed dozens of autographs, shook all of his fans’ hands; and he [the photographer] decided to set up lamps for a photosession - right in front of George’s dressing room. Fryderyk had come prepared, bringing along a Ephiphone guitar from his own collection. It was the same model Master Harrison had played during Beatle days. His plan worked. No sooner had he played few notes on the guitar than the door opened, George appeared to see who was playing. He grabbed the guitar and played three blues numbers.” - translated from Bravo, issue no. 10 1988 (x)

From that same day, a recollection by a German music journalist (who hopefully won’t mind that I translated his recollections).

“No star on the door, no bodyguard, instead, a small, humble room. And inside it George Harrison with a cup of tea in front of him. […] George Harrison! THE George Harrison! Fritz [Egner] asks and asks - it all rushes by me like a quiet and sweet river. George anwers and answers, and I am blessed, even though I can’t understand everything. George Harrison is dressed completely normally, and he has radiates tranquility. ‘Dear God, this person has found his calmness within you! I thank you for this moment!’ […] At the end, he signs autographs on Cloud Nine promotional cards for Fritz and myself. But as I am leaving the small room, he brings me back again and wants to see his autographed card again. Good God, does he want to take it away again? No! He draws a big heart and a big peace sign on the back. ‘What do you mean with that?’ I ask, as composed as possible. ‘It means nothing more than love and peace, my wish for all people in this world.’ ‘Can I use this sign and word with my signature, too?’ 'Of course! All sweet people should do so!’ And then he hugged me. George Harrison hugged me. Even though I hadn’t even conducted an interview or anything else. He didn’t know who I was. And he still hugged me. i hate how the mary poppins musical cut out the mom being a suffragette. i thought that was super cool when i was a little kid and it actually led to my parents discussing the women’s suffrage movement in the uk and the us with me. i don’t see why they had to cut that out.
