He’s still going, I’d honestly just watch the vod back.
He came out as nonbinary, then talked about how he felt his character in Vampires was reduced to just a ship, and how some of that was also his own doing. I thought all that was well articulated and made sense.
Then he talked about how the women his character interacted with in vampires (V!Shelby and V!Drift in particular) were used almost like plot devices for V!Avid, if I’m understanding correctly? I personally didn’t get that sense at all, and it felt like he was apologizing for things that weren’t really there to begin with.
He touched on yuri and yaoi a bit like Owen did, some of it was valid, like women being consistently ignored by fans, or Avid personally not liking some of his own character beats, other stuff felt like more apologizing for nothing.
He made it sound like he was gonna drop something really big, then just recommended watching a video from Doovid, a male CC, which felt a bit odd when he was just talking about uplifting women.
Then he ended it off by basically saying he was gonna switch to fishing and name a bunch of women. I stopped watching there so IDK what else he’s said .
I think he felt guilty as someone that is perceived (until recently) as a man by the community. He took blame for non-issues and seemed to somehow miss the point at the same time. I’m kinda disappointed I guess.
Feel free to correct me if I misunderstood anything.
I didn’t wanna speculate before, but if I’m being honest, the “big thing” I thought Avid was gonna drop was the stuff they’d been hinting about the “upper echelon” of the MCYT community. The reposts and little vague comments about Hermitcraft. I’m not gonna publicly speculate further, but unfortunately, it seems my worst fears about Avid have been confirmed.
I saw some people on Twitter disappointed in themselves for not noticing sooner. First off- as a viewer, there was no way to know what was happening behind the scenes. On top of that, Avid had a very parasocial relationship with their chat. I was a somewhat frequent viewer before their appearance on Bannerfall, and saw them time and time again refer to chat as their friend. Even in their recent stream about POW/Owen and AI usage, they made statements like “Twitter doesn’t know me- you (chat) know me”. I don’t think this was an attempt at manipulation. Parasociality goes both ways. But this also means a lot of people probably considered Avid a “friend” right back, even if they didn’t know them personally.
A few times now, I’ve been in IRL situations where one friend accuses the other of something heinous. Sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking, to name a few. The first time, I blindly believed my friend. Why wouldn’t I? I cut off her ex (who was also my friend) without giving them a chance to explain themself.
A year later, she tells me she exaggerated. Heavily. She laughed it off like it was nothing. I couldn’t believe it.
I’ve learned that whenever possible, try to get both sides of the story. Believe victims, but also fact-check the accused.
My heart goes out to everyone that was a victim of the lies and manipulation we know now Avid is responsible for. I wish the best to the Skyblock community moving forward.
i am no longer going to be working with AvidMc
over the past several days, i have talked with dozens of people who have corroborated evidence which confirms fears i have had for months - fears which i had been made to believe were unsubstantiated, until now. for my own privacy, safety, and wellbeing, i will be keeping this a personal matter. if there comes a time where it becomes relevant to share my perspective, i will do so with care and respect for everyone involved. at this time, however, i do not feel it would be helpful.
this situation has left me heartbroken. it has been devastating to find that someone who i trusted, loved, and considered one of my best friends was not the person i believed him to be. i am feeling more betrayed than i know how to express. my only solace is that in spite of this, i still find myself surrounded by friends and beloveds. forgive me if i choose to lean into them rather than my art in the coming weeks.
as for our music with Avid, i have given them the option to do what he pleases with it. while i am so, so proud of the love and care i have put into those songs, i sincerely cannot in good conscious claim them anymore. so many people have loved those songs, and i would not feel right taking them from anyone. this is why i have left it his decision whether he wants them to remain, or whether he chooses to remove them.
i ask that all of you please, please remain cordial. we are hurt, and the only thing that poking around and harassing others does is perpetuate the cycle of harm. if any malice burns within your heart, extinguish it now. i am tired of vitriol. i am tired, just in general. i want to take my time to heal, and then continue to make the art that i love, and share it with all of you. i ask each of you to do me the favor of not rocking the boat in the meantime.

1) Vaping is confirmed to cause cancer. Vaping coats the lungs with toxic substances, such as heavy metals and benzene, which are known to cause cancer
2) Many vapes contain diacetyl, which, when inhaled causes popcorn lung, or scarring of the lung
3) Ultrafine particles, when being inhaled, can be lodged in the trachea (not good!)
4) Ultrafine particles can also constrict the arteries in the lungs potentially causing A HEART ATTACK
5) Vaping is relatively new. Not much studies have been done in comparison to tobacco. Plus, the vaping companies are powerful people. There is a large chance that they are purposely downplaying and even burying any evidence that vaping is harmful - just like the tobacco companies before them. They do not care about you, or your health, or the truth. They only care for money
Also STOP VAPING INDOORS AROUND OTHER PEOPLE. Holy shit, if you're gonna wreck your lungs at least give me the option not to wreck mine.

for the record im not technially 100% anti-AI, in the sense that its a broad category of tech being lumped under one umbrella term so it feels over-zealous to say i hate all of it all the time forever. but i also think trying to discuss what it actually IS good for is difficult right now when i cant take one step without something trying to convince me to use chatgpt to summarize my life and speed up my hobbies and turn my friends into chatbots and optimize my life into oblivion. i am certain there is nuance to the topic but can we stop cramming the square peg into the round hole before you start trying to sell me on the legitimate benefits of the square peg. please.
Neural Nets have existed for decades and are genuinely useful. It's a form of AI that recognizes patterns, and can do stuff like identify cancer cells, tell whether an egg is fertilized or not, detect fraud, and optimize routes.
Those are Expert Systems, tuned to do exactly one thing. If you (say) ask a medical expert system a question about financial law, it's useless. The autopilot that flies a 787 has no idea how to drive a truck on the freeway. A Coulter Counter is excellent at identifying lymphocytes in a blood sample but can't predict the next card in a blackjack game.
And so on.
The problem with so-called generalized AI (AGI) is that we don't have that yet. It doesn't exist. It MIGHT some day, but AGI has been "10 years away" since the 1980s. The goals keep moving as we learn more about how people and machines process data.
But the current crop of AI techbros have been selling generative Large Language Model AI (LLM) as AGI because generative systems do a good job of faking it. There's no actual thought going on, merely the illusion of thought via predicting the next word in a sentence accurately.
If you let a human toddler listen to 800 hours of YouTube car influencer videos, that toddler might end up sounding like a car influencer. They'd parrot horsepower numbers and 0 to 60 times, mention EV range and MSRP numbers.
But they wouldn't understand any of it.
That's ChatGPT.
And yeah, it's worse than useless because it doesn't even know when it's lying or hallucinating. It just babbles convincingly until you stop it.
But for techbros to make money selling that as "AI"? It's the perfect scam, especially if you don't understand how it works.
