what's saving francesca?
I AM GLAD YOU ASKED MY FRIEND!!!short answer: the book that basically saved my lifelong answer: a YA novel by the australian author Melina Marchetta, whoalso wrote other young adult contemporary and fantasy literature. SF also has asequel called The Piperâs Son. But what is Saving Francesca? Itâs the story of a girl named Francesca (shocking I know) Spinelli, a âwogâ(so Iâm not australian but Iâm pretty sure itâs a slur?? But people refer toher as that please call me out if itâs bad!!!), which basically means that sheâscoming from an immigrant family and has Italian ancestry, but lives in Sydney. Frankie is more on the introverted side (or so you might think) and tries tofollow the crowd instead of leading it. When she changes schools and goes toSt.Sebastian, a former boys school, she has to leave her friends behind and ispretty much stuck with three weird girls from her former school (âan ultra-feminist,a rumored slut, and an impossibly dorky accordion playerâ). And thereâs thisguy named Will Trombal who is kind of an ass and also Tom Mackee who isdefinetly an ass. But more important than all of this is the fact that her usually energetic, intelligent, kind, passionate mother canât get out of bed anymore, because shesuffers from depression and Frankie is totally lost. All her life her mothertold her who she should be, whatâs best for her and now Francesca doesnâtunderstand anything anymore, doesnât know where to go or who to blame and triesnot only to save herself but her entire family. why to read this book (and the sequel and all the other marchettaâs):melina marchettaâs writing style is incredible. You donât notice it at first, because itâs kind of simple, but she works with fine irony and feelings, makesyou cry and laugh with the same sentence and portrays characters and theirrelationships with each other so realistically and in detail you might thinktheyâre all main characters.(amazing! female! characters! of! all! ages!) This book has one of the best friendship groups Iâve ever seen (the inner westgang is the ultimate #squadgoals believe me) but with a lot of humor andwithout (much) pathos. (also! heterosexual! girls! and! boys! not! falling! in!love! but! still! being! Good Friendsâą!) The romance is cute and funny and never steals the focus from the main storybeing Francesca and her family. I canât even begin to describe how much I lovethe relationship between Frankie and her parents. Because itâs not alwaysrainbows and butterflies but so damn realistic!!! Everytime I reread this book(so every few months) thereâs something new I notice and itâs brilliant! Basically you should read this book if you want a light read with heavy themes, amazing characters, realistic relationships and great one-liners. PS: You should totally check out @anabelsbrother for further informationsheâs the marchetta queen!! PPS: I forgot about Jimmy Hailler. Now Iâm just like Melina herself.Â

Why This Mom Wrote A Bilingual Book Called âBad Hair Doesnât Existâ
People often say to me: âYou draw like some kind of inhuman machine. If I eat your brain, will I gain your power?â The answer is yes, but there is another way. The key to precise drawing is building up muscle memory so that your arm/hand/fingers do the things you want them to do when you want them to do them. Teaching yourself to draw a straight line or to make sweet curves is just a matter of practice and there are some exercises you can do to help improve. If youâre going to be doodling in class or during meetings anyway, why not put that time to good use?

Hey
Does anyone else have like. Anxiety-related memory problems. Like, after you do something, you start wondering if you messed something up or did something wrong, and you get really anxious over possible mistakes you made and you genuinely canât remember if you made those mistakes or not?
Like for example maybe you write someone a letter and then after sending it you start imagining you made some terrible mistake and despite the fact that you yourself wrote and proofread and sent it, you canât remember if you did or not?
It happens to me a l o t and itâs terrible and scary because I canât trust my own memories when Iâm anxious
