Images of A2 image of Obama and Tintin and the Mass games in North Korea . The larger size fits the space better and the white pin board frames the image nicely. Colourful tacks stand out nicely also.
Sabina loaned us the sandwich board from their exhibition
It was far too windy
Needed more durable signage
Early install options featuring tvs in the main space, tables/chairs. Tvs were so low on the benches that you needed to sit down to be comfortable. Def better on the wall/in the kitchen, with less furniture
All the stuff we took off the walls
Pic for craggy range
Deinstall
Anna accurately returning the pin board to its original state
Some install shots
Close together vs. further apart
I think in hindsight I got it the wrong way around, would have been better to have them close together at the opening and far apart following that?
Anyway, think they looked cool in the space. it was fun playing with the floor markings, making up that they were playing a game or something
Putting Max’s tv in the kitchen lead to funny moments like this during the opening. Dif ways of using the space. Totally cute.

Kind feed back from Caitlin after the opening:
Yay to giving the art world the finger!

“Patrons of the Arts”
We drilled some holes in the wall!
It made the most sense; it added a different dynamic to the space, was high enough it felt natural watching it as a TV or a window. The headphones were a hit, people commented positively on the experience of having to wait for their turn to use the headphones and then when they did get them, being totally transformed from the busy opening/loaded scout space into my hyper introspective bar scene. Also the room felt a bit haunted when no one was using the headphones and so you could hear the song playing faintly in the distance.
Me in the hall by myself with our art (except for mum who took the photos)
three positions on the benches. Because Anna will be using the white board in the middle of the benches, my original thinking for putting a table there won’t work.
I’m drawn to the benches for their colour and length, as these match the bar in my video so seem to continue on the scene.
I decided to use headphones as a way of drawing viewers into a more isolated headspace. The headphones don’t work on the tv I was given for technical reasons, and Max has decided the space is too light for his projection so will be using a tv too. We agreed to switch Tvs so his video with its ambient noise will be playing aloud, and my TV will use headphones.
However, the benches are quite low down. Too low down to view and too low down for the headphones, really. I could organise a seat but because there is only one set of headphones, only one seat would make sense and then one seat wouldn’t make sense at all, as it could come across as quite sculptural in a space in which it is already difficult to tell the art and hall decor appart.
(Also the windows look more bright than they actually are in these pictures, not having too much drama with glare on the Tv)
some install drawing ideas, thinking of the symmetry of the scenes in The Shining. We haven’t discussed with the scout hall what their stand is on us wall mounting things so these install ideas would involve the tv on some sort of stand/table. Don’t think I can exactly get away with using a white Plinth in the hall so might have to go check out the dump shop etc.
Also, because there are benches that run along most of the walls of the hall, space to fit the Tv is sparse. I could put the tv in the middle of the room, but don’t really want to show the back of it. Also by the sounds of it, Benas work will most likely be in the middle of the room, as well as Max’s projector/table.
Lucy A. Keane research for install. This is my first time not using projection for one of my videos, exciting prospects!
My initial plan was a look to the way tvs are portrayed in westerns, and recreate some sort of set (not unlike some bena jackson work). The thing is that westerns are mostly set in pre-tv times. Tv don’t exist within westerns, westerns exist within them.
The install was perhaps an opportunity to connect to the themes and venue of the exhibition in a more visiually explicit way. TVs play an important recurring role in The Shining, and the symmetry of those shots are something I could work with. Also thinking of museums, poor tvs that show information, such as the one in Hank Williams’ Boyhood home.
