ATTN: Aberdeen (6)
It has been THREE months, guys, three whole months since I’ve been able to hoor out an Aberdeen gig on here to a wide audience of nobody. It’s worth a go anyway. It’s the third Laika Come Home gig, which means baked goods and TOTAL BANGIN’ TUNES. It’s also a gathering of people from the northeast of Scotland on the first Saturday night since Mrgrt Thtchr snuffed it, so… I don’t want to claim I can predict what the general mood will be, but at the same time, I’m pretty sure I can predict what the mood will be… But enough of that. Onwards. BANDS! (Links in the names) -SIDCA: Sidca have been going forever, so there’s probably too much to say, but I’m trying to keep this brief-ish. They’ve made some new roguishly charming lo-fi recordings after a bit of an absence and are back to performing live and providing a racket for anyone who wants it. -THE SHITHAWKS: I’ve written adoringly about these guys on here often, so forgive me if I’m repeating myself. It is impossible to watch them play and not have the best time. Everyone will be your best friend by the end of their set, I guarantee it, nobody will have the Dick Blues. -DAS MCMANUS: Power-pop for PUNX, often compared to early Weezer. POWER-BASTARDS! They played a Halloween show at the Moorings last year in masks of a certain former British prime minister and I’m hoping that as… uh… a mark of respect, at least one of them appears at this show. -STAR ROVER: Debut gig! This looks set to be pretty exciting judging by the catchy as hell pop songs on their Bandcamp page. They’re a pretty big deal in Peru and also their bassist is the smoothest babe I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Get on it and come on down. I feel like I never see you anymore, man, let’s hang out. Saturday 13th April 2013 Cellar 35, Aberdeen £4
