4x15: Kaddish

After a Jewish man is murdered by a group of antisemitic teenagers, Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate the mysterious death of one of the assailants.

A "golem" creature is avenging the (hate crime) murder of Isaac Luria

Isaac's fingerprints are found on the dead guy's body

The agents are suspicious of Jacob Weiss, but it's actually Isaac's wife Ariel who created the golem

Shopkeeper they talk to literally hands out antisemitic flyers, "you look like you might be one yourself" he says to Mulder

Mulder and Scully investigate grave, they find a Torah that instantly catches on fire

Ariel tries to marry the golem version of her husband... this is genuinely really sad :(

Score: 6/10

Watch it? It's probably best skipped. This one genuinely just bums me out, it's hard to care at all about the young guys being killed because they committed such a horrifyingly evil act. I don't know why they had to make them be teens. But the end with Ariel and Isaac is sort of tragically beautiful.

5.18 Kaddish

A touching episode seeing Munch’s childhood with a great soundtrack.

But the connection between Frank and Tim after what happened with Mary just shows how deep they are as partners. Beautiful.

Munch: Remember when the most exciting thing was that girl in your French class? You'd hope she'd let you walk her home. Maybe let you hold her hand.

Kellerman: You looked at her and got embarrassed.

Munch: You didn't imagine sleeping with her. All you could think about was reaching down for her hand. Weaving your fingers together. Feeling her palm touch your palm. We forget what that was like, you know. We have sex, get married, fight, get divorced. We forget how wonderful it is to hold another human being's hand. What happens to us that we take that for granted?

Kellerman: I dunno. We get older.

Munch: We get older. We forget who we used to be. What we used to believe in. Love. Peace. That the Colts would always be in Baltimore.
