I finished MID today

And I just don’t feel anything. Not disappointed, not satisfied. Just nothing. This was very much a nothing game to me. Yes, things happened in the game, but I (Nancy) didn’t do any of it. The game was so linear and the stakes felt very low to me. One of the things I really liked about the old games was how you could things in any order. There was also no need to switch game engines, the “freedom of movement” added nothing. It’s still a point and click game.

There were hardly any puzzles and the ones that were in there felt very tedious to me for little pay off. Decoding a to-do list that gives us almost zero information? Really? Matching wavelengths of ghosts which we know do not exist in Nancy’s world?

That said, I did enjoy mixing herbs and the circular puzzle towards the end. Some of the settings are truly beautiful and I genuinely was interested in the story.

But it just wasn’t that fun. I don’t even feel the need to go back and get all of the achievements. I just don’t care enough to. This didn’t feel like a Nancy Drew game to me. It felt more like a movie that I occasionally got to click around in.

Clue: The Movie's multiple endings are fucking classic and i will stand by that fact until the day that i die, but hearing that they only played one ending each in the theatrical release is the funniest fucking thing ever. imagine seeing a great movie and going to talk about it with your friends/family/coworkers but none of you can agree on how it ended. and they did this in 1985, the absolute madmen
