I was thinking about Albert Whiskers and had the stupidest AU thought that I just have to share with tumblr now.

Wesker had some kind of consciousness transfer set up for when he died (like what Alex did), but something goes wrong and he ends up in the body of a cat. Now he’s trying to figure out how to regain a human body while being trapped as a cuddly companion for the Redfields and eventually Rose (how does he live that long? Don’t worry about it). Essentially becomes a much more evil and arrogant Salem Saberhagen.

Pre SoR, he tries to convince Rose of the world changing capabilities of her powers. It goes about as well as you would expect.

“All I want is some friends! Is that too much to ask for?”

“Come now, Rose. I didn’t need friends! Not when I had Uroboros!”

“Yeah, and how’s that going for you?”

*Disgruntled cat noises*

Cyrus and Gestures

I find it really interesting how often Cyrus uses hand gestures when commanding his pokemon. It's not uncommon for trainers to make dramatic gestures or strike poses while ordering their pokemon but Cyrus' movements look very controlled and deliberate. They're much more like signs than theatrics. (Although that isn't to say Cyrus doesn't love drama. He makes a fist over the "G" on his heart frequently when discussing his ideology and there's no shortage of him yelling with his hands raised above his head. He's a passionate guy even if he denies it.)

I personally headcanon Cyrus as autistic. I think he masks often and to an punishing degree because of how he was raised and his need to be a charismatic speaker/leader for Team Galactic. I can imagine there are plenty of times when Cyrus goes non-verbal as a result. Because pokemon don't hold the same social expectations as humans, Cyrus would feel little incentive to verbalize his directions to them. Additionally, just as they would have to be attentive to him - he would similarly be perceptive of their own mannerisms and signals. This is how I imagine Cyrus has built such an impressive bond with his pokemon.

They seem so in tune with each other that there are plenty of times Cyrus doesn't have to verbalize or even gesture to his pokemon and yet they seem to understand his wants better that those closest to him.

Just as an aside -- I know in most of the examples I've shown, Cyrus is still often verbalizing his moves. Of course, that's part of pokemon media to show off in-game moves and mechanics. But it's kinda terrifying imagining if Cyrus didn't have to say anything in battle especially since his battle style seems to rely on speed and brute force. Weavile's speed is 120 (which is like 12th highest in dppt) and more insanely Crobat is 130 (6th highest). In bdsp his Crobat even has a quick claw. Why???

Heard someone call Cyrus a tsundere earlier, and honestly, the more I think of it, the more I realize they were right:

Often praises the DPPt player, tho chides us on our wasteful sentimentality.

Borderline makes friends with the Ultra player and their Rotomdex, after he's stopped from resetting their world. Questions if things could have been different for him had he met us sooner. Doesn't immediately go back on it like Lys.

Praises the spirit of the Masters player (calling it an asset), tho still rejects spirit as an incomplete and vague thing.

Rejects bonds, but apparently, bonded with Palkia enough to use a Sync Move. It's a plot point that Lear, who hasn't bonded with his Mons, can't use them.

Crobat. I've heard people say he could have manipulated it or it cares about him, but him and the Palkia he's just recently gotten already have something, so perhaps there's something with Crobat too?

Cyrus: I don't care about you or your emotional bs. 😠 Also Cyrus: Feel free to come vent to me if TB gives you a hard time, okay?

"I've abandoned all emotions as useless sentimentality..." Soft spot for Rotom, the Pokemon he befriended as a child/feels sentimental attachment to.

I just can't unsee it now and it's pretty amusing 😅

It's kind of a good thing that Rainbow Rocket was specifically an UltraSun/Moon thing and not later. Because the whiplash would be too funny to me.
