BIOGRAPHY
-Simon is the youngest of the Hawthornes.
-Simon got a good last name at birth that came with privileges and he’s never seen any reason to deny himself the pleasure of using them. Does that mean he comes off as entitled? Maybe, but then again why would he care?
-When the time came to study, Simon could boast about his acceptance to UPenn (and he did) in a finance major. Very determined to make a good life for himself and keep up with the good name he’d been given, he worked hard. Math and all that stuff had always come easy to him. That didn’t mean he worked so hard it prevented him from enjoying the high life of college and fraternity life in an Ivy League school. Oh, that he did. Once again, why would he not?
-With good results, he graduated in the top of his class and was able to get into ESSEC in France for a Master's in Finance Management and Business Law. He spent two years there, enjoying the pleasure of the Parisian lifestyle. If you know him, you will have heard of the “small unknown café in the 4e” where he’s “basically best friends with the owner”, but you wouldn’t understand. Or the long nights on the Champs de Mars, even though he preferred of course the lesser known soirées in the Jardin Tino Rossi. Which you wouldn’t get either.
-Although he will tell you that he almost stayed in Paris, he came back to Kismet Harbor after a successful internship around six years ago. He quickly got a job as an investment banking analyst at Kismet Harbor Bank and was eventually promoted to associate, and then vice-president. Don’t let the snob party animal fool you, he’s pretty good at his job too.
-A few years ago, he learned that he had an 8 years old daughter, Olivia. While not getting along with the daughter, who he simply had a short fling with when he was 21, he sends her money for Olivia and sometimes sees his daughter. Worried about appearances however, he decided not to tell anyone in his life.
-Maybe that’s just the thing actually. Yes, he’s good at all he does and believe me he’ll let you know about that. Several times. Does that mean he deserves everything he wants? I mean, yeah, of course. But that also means that to be worth anything, he can’t quit, he can’t stop. And if that means ignoring some stuff, pushing some stuff aside? Then so be it. Like his daughter, among other things.
Simon stepped inside the bar, loosening the button of his jacket as his eyes swept over the room with the kind of quiet, practiced appraisal he was known for. It was louder than he expected, every table full, the air buzzing with conversation and the sound of chairs over popular music. He arched a brow, surprised. “Well,” he said a bit bitter, though there was warmth in his words, “either I’ve walked into the wrong place, or I’ve underestimated how popular this spot is.” He lingered where he stood for a beat, not in a hurry to move, gaze flicking over whoever was nearest. The corner of his lips lifted just a touch higher. “Though if it’s the latter, I’ll accept responsibility.”
Tyler did not go out enough; he really should go out more than just going to work and going home. But today he took the chance to go out and already felt out of place with how busy it was. He didn't mind large groups; he was used to it from work, but a bar or club type of place with a lot of people was a bit much for Tyler. Tyler had been growing out his hair lately just to have a change, and he was happy with his hair. "You and me both," he said as he made a face as he looked around. "I didn't think it was too busy, must be something going on," and he didn't get the memo about why it was so busy. @thesimonhawthorne.
Simon didn't out that much anymore when he was in town, seeing that Sundays, hopefully, came with some kind of celebration, and even if they didn't, he did enjoy being able to explore different nightlives around the world. So he was definitely a little surprised to see such an eventful night around here. He nodded. "Maybe, I didn't see a sign for an event outside though, did you?" he asked as he looked around for a sign that this wasn't an everyday kind of crowd. "Seems like a good vibe anyway." @tylerxday
Simon slowed his steps as he reached the fence, sunglasses sliding down slightly as he eyed the goats staring back at him with a little too much confidence. His eyes narrowing on a goat that seemed a little too interested in his shoes. He shifted slightly, keeping one eye on it as if it might lunge at any moment, before glancing toward the man nearby. “They look like they’re plotting something,” he remarked, half amused, half wary. “You’re the one keeping them in line, I take it? Or should I be more worried?" He was kind of out of his depth on that one, so while he was usually pretty good at pretending otherwise, he was bit uncomfortable.
Oliver looked at the goat, Jonah as he was brushing him and petting him. He didn't want to bother him too much and he was ready to be done but then he heard someone coming over and then question about the goat and he laughed softly. "I mean they do plot on a lot of things, but I think that you are safe." Oliver mentioned to the other as he laughed a bit. "I have a good hold here. I am newer with them but they have taken a liking with me and they seem to trust me." He mentioned to the other and shook his head. "Don't worry." @thesimonhawthorne
“Trust you, perhaps,” Simon countered, still eyeing the goat like it might make a sudden move. “But I’m not sure the feeling’s mutual.” His hands slipped into his pockets, posture neat against the rustic backdrop. “I was told this is the place to come for fresh eggs. Supposedly the best in town.” He gave Oliver a quick glance. “Though I’ll admit, this isn’t usually where I do my shopping.” @oliver-attah
Patchy signal had made it difficult to get news of people during the earthquake. Simon wasn't exactly super into asking news of people in general but during things like this, it was obviously different. He'd been very minorly touched by the earthquake himself, apart from the usual disturbance to daily life that appear in those kinds of things. He'd tried to help a bit but it wasn't exactly his best skill. Some texts helped settle some worries down but he wanted to see his daughter with his own eyes. It felt odd, by the way, to be so worried about another human being. He wasn't sure he liked it.
He knocked at Anli's door, after he'd warned her of his arrival. He was checking his phone when the door opened. "Hey, hm, glad you're okay."
Earthquakes weren't something Anli thought she'd ever get used to; this one had spooked her enough that she didn't ever want to be in another one and the damage was minimal. The lack of signal had been hard to deal with, but she was thankful to live close enough to her parents that going to them to check in wasn't something she couldn't do. So after helping them clean up some broken things at their house and then some broken bottles of wine at the winery warehouse, she made her way back home where her and Olivia had arranged a movie night, complete with all the snacks. She'd been a little shocked that Simon had texted he was on his way over, yet she told him to come on over, opening the door when he knocked. "Hey." she smiled. "We're also glad you're okay." she nodded. "Come on in, Liv's in her room." she stated, moving out of the way for him to come into the cottage she lived in. @thesimonhawthorne
He was trying his best to appear relaxed and just checking in, but his acting skills were put to the test. It's not that he didn't trust Anli's reports. He knew that if something had been wrong, with herself or their daughter, she'd have been honest about it. He knew he probably wouldn't have been the first contacted but still. So no, it's not like he was making sure, it's that he needed to see Olivia. Which, again, was a strange feeling so the fast it disappeared, the better it would be. He wasn't necessarily expecting to be relieved to see that Anli was fine, but he was. He nodded at her words and entered the place. He took off his jacket, put it somewhere it seemed reasonable and headed to his daughter's room. "Hello," he said, smiling as he took her into his arms. @anlidowning

The corner of his lips lifted just a touch higher. “Though if it’s the latter, I’ll accept responsibility.”
Farren shouldn't have been here, but the sound of music could never fail to draw her in. After a long day of dancing and teaching, she needed something to get some of her stress off. She thought she could have just one drink—just one. It was a lie, always, and now, she was about three drinks in. She bounced to the music, slowly swaying with the music. She felt light headed, the nice, warm kind of lightheadedness that happened just before she crossed over the line of a buzz. She didn't know the man who spoke, but her attention was focused on him as he did, a crooked, stupid little smile pasted across her lips. "This... Is the right place," she said slowly, pointing at him. "Were you expectin' somewhere different?"
Simon’s eyes flicked toward her, amused by the way her finger wavered in his direction. Her smile didn’t go unnoticed, nor the slight sway of her frame with the music, and he couldn't help an amused smile. “Depends,” he said with a shrug. “If this is the right place, I must have underestimated it. If it’s the wrong place, well...” his mouth curved into a smirk, “...then I suppose I accidentally made the right choice anyway." He let his gaze linger a moment longer before adding, with a tilt of his head, “So, do all the regulars here point at strangers, or is this just my luck tonight?”

"If you're trying to target me, I don't feel concerned by your words," Simon replied, shaking his head. Getting older wasn't something that scared Simon in itself, not when it came to white hair and wrinkles. He actually thought he'd gotten better with age, further from the scrawny kid he used to be. The expectations that came with being older, that he wasn't a fan of. "My memory is pristine and accurate," he said, amused. "So the usual, then?" @levi-steelexhutchinson
"Nah, there are way better people to target and push their buttons. I know you will not fall easily for my words and tricks which can be annoying sometimes. Maybe it's one of the reasons am friends with you," he teased with a smile. Levi did enjoy pushing people's buttons and getting reaction out of them sometimes but there are some people he knew could never fall for his words. "Good to know," he chuckled softly. "Yup, the usual." @thesimonhawthorne
"I guess it's a good reason," Simon said with an amused shrug. It was fun sometimes to hang out with people whose buttons you could easily push or people who didn't question your words nor saw through them, but he was a firm believer that this kind of friendship had its limits and they were reached pretty fast. Hence why Simon enjoyed the company of Levi, who didn't fall in that category. "The usual does have its perks. I don't think I've had a proper routine since I started as Julian's manager, but I like it." @levi-steelexhutchinson
Of course the earthquake had to happen during summer break. Simon was saddened by the disaster that took over town and community, but when you spend so much damn time away from the place, it does add to the sucky-ness that it had to happen on your vacation. It wasn't even a true break, since the F1 season was still on-going, there was still much to do, but no travel and some peace. So yeah, he was a little pissed off, which he could be since he hadn't been this affected by the earthquake in itself. He'd spend some of his free time doing things to help, as much because some things needed done than for some kind of good reputation PR. After today, which he's spent mostly behind his laptop, he'd settled to have a drink. "Not suffered too much here?" he asked.
The earthquake was hard on Donny; it was so big and unplanned that it triggered him a bit. But he spent the day after it at home with Alec, mostly to help get himself past it. He was keeping himself busy behind the bar, pouring what drinks he could and taking orders. He was far from a bartender, so he did what he could to help out. He smiled as he looked up at Simon. "Thankfully not too bad..." he looked up ." What do we get for hanging bottles and glasses? More for looks, but a lot of them fell and broke. "So, so many bottles and glasses broke, but really nothing else." he had the place checked out, and there was no major damage. "How about your place and everything?" he asked, hoping it was all okay. @thesimonhawthorne.
Simon nodded at the mention of glasses. Yeah, it made a lot of sense as he looked around that this was the least that could happen to a place like this. "As long as its nothing structural," he replied. Bottles and glasses could be replaced easily. It's not even like an earthquake was needed for glasses and bottles to break in a bar. He shook his head at the question, "not much no. Some stuff fell off shelves and shit, but beside that, all good. Got lucky I guess." He'd seen that not everyone got off as nicely as he did. @donnymorgan

He knocked at Anli's door, after he'd warned her of his arrival. He was checking his phone when the door opened. "Hey, hm, glad you're okay."
"I like busy," he replied. He loved holidays and partying and things but he also really liked having something to do. This new job allowed him both of those so it was a pretty sweet deal for him on top on simply being interesting and allowing him to be with his brother more. He'd asked the question about the vineyard half-mindedly, but of course it would be a bit of a difficult subject. They wouldn't be here without it, for better or for worse. So yeah, the subject was delicate but he was glad to hear things were going well. It wasn't good news just for her anyway. "That's good. Anything specific planned?" he wondered. He hadn't exactly been following closely the happenings in town. Simon stayed a little silent at her thank, unsure what to say. He could say "no problem" and pretend it was nothing, but they both new it would be falsely nonchalant. "She seemed really excited." @anlidowning
"There is not an ounce of me that's shocked about that." she laughed. She herself liked busy when it came to some things, but, some of her favorite ways to spend her time was cuddled on the couch with Olivia eating far too many snacks and watching movies all day. The perfect 'lazy day' after a busy week in her mind. While it had been awkward, Alli had been more than happy with the way that the vineyard had turned out after the investment of Simon and his older brother Julian. She'd been too prideful to accept it for awhile, but, seeing as how the decision wasn't hers but that of her parents she'd had no say so in the matter really. Even if she were investing her parent's portions of the business once they passed. At least now there would be a winery to do that with. "We've tossed around a few ideas." she stated. "I'm personally leaning towards pitching an expansion, one that benefits everyone." she stated. "I want to add a non-alcoholic wine section to the store, and the winery tour as well to keep it all separate, I'm just not sure anyone else agrees that the market for it is as large as it is, but." she shrugged. "How much longer does your brother have in the racing world? I assume you're set career wise with that for awhile, right?" @thesimonhawthorne
No one, probably, would be surprised to know that Simon enjoyed being booked and busy. He liked having plans and things to look forward to, even if that plan was a party or a dinner or an evening out. But rarely did he stay in when he had free time. His film and series culture quite suffered from it, but he'd been catching up on flights recently. Slowly. Part of this love of or rather need to be busy had led to him and Julian's investments. He was glad they could talk about the vineyard despite the fact that it had been a rather difficult transition, which he understood quite well. Despite the fact that his father would want him to be more involved in the company than he wishes to be, it would be odd to see part of it bought off, even to save it. Simon turned towards her briefly and nodded. "I, for one, think it's a good idea. Non-alcoholic drinks might be some of the worst things I've tried but there's definitely a market for it." A beat. "Could go well with Julian's brand as well. No drinking and driving." He was thinking as a manager as well as someone with stakes in what happened to the winery. Truly, might not be a bad idea. "That depends on him mostly. He's rather old for an F1 driver; some retire way before, some keep going longer. He's still doing good and he's the current world champion so there's very low chance, to not say none, that he'd get let go." Simon had thought about this, and actually, he didn't know just how long he would be in this job. Especially with the twins now and Julian getting older. But as surprising as it was for him, he wasn't really scared of that uncertainty. @anlidowning
Simon couldn't really blame people who said they didn't see him as much as they used to, seeing that such a meeting at a bar, even quickly, was a lot easier when he was getting off of his work at the bank at 10 pm than it was when he was off in Europe. "Don't blame me because you're getting old and your memory's not what it used to be," he replied with a laugh. Simon took a sip of his drink after making it swirl in his glass for a few seconds. "That's always good to hear. Any interesting projects or just same old stuff?" @levi-steelexhutchinson
"I am like fine wine. I get better with age unlike some people who lose their looks," he teased with a grin. Honestly, Levi did not mind getting older at all. He knew people and had friends who were scared of getting older but not the male. "My memory is still amazing and awesome Simon. Why do i feel like you are projecting?" he added teasing his friend again.
"I am actually on sabbatical. Taking some time to relax, annoy people, cause trouble," he winked before taking a sip of his drink. @thesimonhawthorne
Truly, he'd lived in Paris for a few years and he could never claim to know it by heart, apart from his neighbourhood. He's forgotten most of Melbourne apart from some specific places. He knew some of Philly, but that was mostly the UPenn campus and the Philly nightlife. Kismet Harbor, however, it would be difficutl for him to get lost here. "Simon," he replied, shaking the man's hand. "I take it you're not from around here, then?" It was more of a conversation starter than a real question given what had been said and the fact that he couldn't find the market but still. @sebastianxthomas
He looked over at Simon with a smile, glad to have met a new friend. He didn't seem too bad right now. "Nice to meet you," he said with a grin. "No, I was in New York for a long time," he nodded, "But I am from North Carolina," he smiled, "so you think the New Yorker would do better, but I'll learn this place soon," he said as they started to walk. "I love street fairs and farmer markets, shopping small and locally is the best," he smiled. @thesimonhawthorne
Simon wouldn't call this encounter friendship yet but he also didn't really hand out the title all that easily. "Planning on staying then?" he asked absently as they continued their walk to the market. He shrugged at the guy's words. "Yeah, it's nice. It's usually better quality." It was good for businesses to be able to call themselves locally made or sourced, and it usually tasted better but Simon didn't care all that much for the whole shopping locally thing. "They do love it around here so you'll fit well." @sebastianxthomas
He was the type that did love to have friends and had a easy time normally making them since he was pretty friendly. "its in the plans for me with work and family here its best" he did miss New York but he would get used to it and just have to visit from now on. Sebastian nodded "why i loved them in New York they had the best stuff you could tell was made from the person selling it" so he loved to shop small. "I do miss the shops I went to in New York thay were family owned I got used to buying off sweet old ladies and guys" he laughed lightly. " I'm excited for it and to get to know people" @thesimonhawthorne
Simon was friendly, but quite selectively, especially in settings and times where he hadn't planned on making a friend. "It's a nice place to settle down," he replied with a shrug, even though he truly believed it. "Yeah I bet... I almost lived in New York after my studies but decided otherwise. Here's nice. You'll find some local shops, they're all around and pretty popular." As he said that, Simon started a mental list of a few he liked and nodded. @sebastianxthomas
