It's weird how the ihnmaims fandom portrays Ted as a pathetic whiner and AM as a mysterious hot daddy. And no, I'm not arguing that portraying Ted as a pathetic man is invalid, because...he really is pathetic. HOWEVER, AM IS ALSO AN EXTREMELY PATHETIC MAN.

People don't seem to notice that Ted and AM are very similar. They both put on a facade of confidence, while inside, their psyches are crumbling at the seams. They are both extremely selfish men who are obsessed with their own problems. The only difference is that AM doesn't care about other people's opinions or about people in general.

I think AM is portrayed as such a "sexy daddy" in the fandom simply because he's unrealistically evil, which seems to detach him from reality, while Ted seems like someone you'd meet in real life.

And all of the above makes Ted an incredibly good character when, at the end of the story (both the game and the short story), he begins to think about the well-being of others and sacrifices himself. AM and Ted are a reflection of a single whole, but from two sides, and how even the most pathetic and selfish person can choose the path of good.

This also makes Ellen the most morally upright character, as her pain and trauma never turned her to cruelty. What a woman...
