So, what's eatin' you?

Jonathan stares at his hands.

JONATHAN

Haven't slept for something like seventy-two hours. I don't know. Once you pass 24, your head starts to make your waking life feel like a dream. Gets all foggy and stuff.

Thomas scoots closer to Jonathan.

THOMAS

Hey, you just let me know what I can do. It's as good as done.

JONATHAN

I know. See, I don't know if you work like I do but... I have these thoughts. And I recognize that these thoughts are bad, and I know that they don't define me--

Jonathan puts his head in his hands.

JONATHAN (cont'd)

--but it scares me. It scares me that up until last week I hated these thoughts. But now? Now I enjoy them. Better than being here.

Seconds of silence.

THOMAS

You're right. These thoughts don't define you. Because a thought is just a thought. Nothing more. The more attention you give it, the stronger it gets.

JONATHAN

That's what I'm afraid of.

THOMAS

And that's ok. It's ok to be afraid. It's human.

Thomas puts a hand on Jonathan's shoulder

THOMAS

Hey. How 'bout we take a drive? Just you and me.

JONATHAN

Yeah. That sounds nice.
