What are your favorite fairytale adaptations of all time?
That 1957 Soviet animated adaptation of The Snow Queen is an all time favorite of mine.
Other than that, there are too many to really list…
You have good taste.

✨ New episode! ✨
Look, we like Frozen. But is it a retelling of The Snow Queen? Drew and Cassie are here to sort it all out on this week’s episode of Of Slippers and Spindles! Disney's 2013 animated film tells the tale of Elsa, a princess who is about to be crowned queen, but is also grappling with hiding her secret magic powers of ice and snow. These secret powers have estranged Elsa from her sister, Anna. But when Elsa's powers come to light, she flees, and Anna must journey up the North Mountain to try to bring Elsa back and end the magical winter she has accidentally brought upon the kingdom. We try to find as many connections as we can, and still deliver the full Of Slippers and Spindles Disney episode treatment by talking through the movie, discussing the Broadway musical, touching on the sequels and spin-offs, and wrapping up with the theme parks. Plus, find out what story we will talking about next! ❄️
L'hiver arrive …
the snow queen is so wholesome. love that story. one of two best friends is cursed by a shard of magic mirror to see and feel everything beautiful to be hideous? other best friend cures him by being the cutest, most loving bff there ever was and melting his ice cold heart? fuck yeah.
I really like the snow queen’s design in the 1957 Russian animated movie
at my funeral, the audience will watch my favourite comfort movie and whoever checks their phone first gets disinherited.
I need you all to know that I first read “I can’t give her greater power than she already has. Don’t you see how great it is? Don’t you see how both man and beast have to serve her? How she has got on as well as she has on her bare feet? We must not tell her what power she has; it is in her heart, because she is such a sweet innocent child. If she can’t reach the Snow Queen herself, then we can’t help her” when I was a tiny child and it Changed me as a person.
“So Gerda washes up near a very colorful house surrounded by flowers, and a friendly little old lady hobbles out to help her. But don’t get too comfy - fairy tale little old ladies are never what they seem to be, and this one is no exception.”

I was very excited to see this prompt and draw a piece for this fairytale! I especially had fun designing the Queen… she is a cross between a bee and a snowflake.

Help Appa Find His Aang!
Hey y’all, this is my friend Appa, a dog at my local Humane Society.
On September 25th, I’ll be “locked in” to a kennel with him. Appa has been living in the shelter ever since he was picked up off the street, wandering alone with no collar for who knows how long. As we all know, every Appa needs an Aang - a human who will love them unconditionally just as much as they love their human. Your financial support to HSNEGA here will help feed and shelter Appa while they help him find his Aang!
As soon as I met him, I knew Appa was a total sweetheart. The first time I approached his ‘cell,’ he wagged his tail so hard I thought it would fly off and tried to lick me through the bars. When I came in and sat on the floor to say hi he cuddled right up, sprawling across my and my sister’s laps and effectively pinning us to the floor so we just HAD to give him pets. He had a huge smile the whole time we were with him and it was honestly tragic to have to leave him behind until the 25th, when we’ll be locked in with him!
Please make a donation to the Human Society of Northeast Georgia here and contribute to our bail. Your donation will help find Appa his forever home. The process is fast, easy and secure. Thanks so much for your support… and please don’t forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating.

20% of the way there… thanks so much, anonymous, from me AND Appa!!
