Review of Oasis, Oslo City.

The window display showed three outfits and follow the rule of three. It is obvious that the store has chosen the seasons strongest garments for display. The garments in the exhibition are easy to find once you go into the store.

There is a good flow in the store and you have room to walk around and look, without bumping into things. There is a bright and lively atmosphere. Clearly a typical girl shop, with many bright colors that can be seen painted on the walls. Its spring in the whole store and a few pieces form last season is still on sale in the back of the store. In the fitting room there is good space and comfortable lighting. The music played in the store is typical "Girl Music" and underline that this is a girly girl shop.

My audience

So it looks like I don't have any readers on my blog. I'm not that surprised, I haven't told anybody I have this blog. But it´s fun anyway! I'm at a beginner stadium and it is quite nice just to write for myself for a while, and that I have something to show when I get some readers (hopefully soon). But for now lets talk about my other social media audience. I'm usually not that curious about how many that is following me on Instagram and Facebook, mostly because its not that many. But I had to do a little research for my assignment in the fashion course I'm taking. The task is to make a post about my audience. As I just mentioned, I don't have an audience here yet, so there isn't much research I get to do here. But it seems like a have an audience on Lookbook. I recently made a profile on Lookbook, and my site has been viewed 94 times! I think that is a lot! I posted my first look on Saturday, and now I have 3 fans already. I also received three very nice comments on my look. So I will definitely post some more looks!

The morning fashion shoot

When I woke up today the light struck me. I had to move my photoshop to today, and not just today, but right now! The light was perfect. So I jumped out of bed and within the hour we were on our way.

Here are two photos from my editorial photoshoot. It was very cold so we had to make the shoot fast! But it was worth the ice-cold fingers, because it was so much fun! Thanks to my photographer Kathrine Gabrielsen for making this happen. All clothes made by K.H.G.

My product

For the last assignment in the "Understanding fashion production" course I had to make "the mockup" into a real bag, and not just a bag in card board. The challenge in this assignment was "stripes" We have to make our signature bag in stripes. First this sounded like something I wouldn't be able to do, but after some brainstorming I got an idea. I bought some cotton fabric, and vliselin to stiffen the fabric a little. First I cut out the pieces, then I ironed the vliselin on the shell pieces. I sewed the lining together and then the shell together. After that I had to sew the to pieces together. After this I sewed the top of the bag together, and then I sewed it on the body of the bag. Here is where the stripes come in. After I had put the bag together I painted a thin metallic line on the top of the bag. 

Here are some pictures of the proses and the result. This is just a sample, so I will remake it and make it better.

My skills

For my assignment for the Parsons X Teen Vogue program I have to show of my "skills". I have to take a piece of clothing that don't fit me and pin it with needles so it fit me perfect. I found a blouse that I never used since the size is to big for me. It´s a size 40, and I usually use 34 in tops and blouses. For this assignment I used my manikin as my model. She always stays still :) So I put on the blouse and took a good look to see where I had to take the blouse in. I started with the shoulders. I took them 1 1/2 cm up. This lifted the blouse very much. I also wanted to take the side of the blouse in a little. So I followed the side seam and took it in 1 1/2 cm on each side. The blouse is way too long for me so I took up the hemline with 10 cm.

Here is a before and after picture of the blouse. As you can se there's not a very big change, but just enough for this blouse.

The Mockup

For my assignment in the parson x Teen Vogue program I have to make a mockup of my "signature bag". In an earlier course I designed this handbag “The K.H.G. Bag".

 Now I have to make this design come to life an make a mockup of the bag.

The first thing I had to do was to find out which size I wanted the bag to be. I just took my favorite bag and took some measurements. When the size and measurements was correct I made the pattern in card board. For the next step I cut out all the pieces and taped them all together. I found out that the size was perfect! But I may have to make some changes in how to close the bag.

 In an earlier assignment I took some fabric swatches. For this bag I want to use the fabric to the left, for the body of the bag. And the fabric to the right, for the top of the bag.

I also made a production cost grid for the bag.

Production Standards

For the Parsons X Teen Vogue program the assignment was to explore the variety of sizes in different clothing stores. So for this assignment I had to take a trip to the city for some exploring. First I went to H&M. I wanted to go to a store that had lots of basic garments. I tried on many different garments and ended up on choosing a grey turtleneck with long sleeves. I had to wear X-small in this one. It was comfortable and a little loose in the waist. For my next store I chose Gina Tricot. I tried on some of the same basic clothes as I tried on H&M. But here the fit was a little tighter in the waist. I found a similar turtleneck in purple. I got  X-small for this sweater too, but it was a lot more tighter round the waist. I personally like it when the clothes fit me tight (but not so tight that it stops the blood) so I bought the purple turtle neck. I will probably not wear this on a Sunday when I want to relax, but definitely on school and other occasions. The grey turtleneck from H&M is much more comfortable, and is something i would wear everyday if I could.

The sizes vary a lot from which store you go to. But from the two stores I chose for this assignment  the size don't change so much. In some of the clothes you get from Gina Tricot, you may have to go up a size, compared to the size at H&M.

The Zipper Velvet Belt

For the Parsons X Teen Vogue course I made this belt.

I called it "The zipper velvet belt". For this belt I got inspired by the zipper on my wallet (Tiger of Sweden). I would never thought about this detail if I didn't had taken some different detail pictures of it. This belt was for an assignment some weeks ago. Now I have to take my sample to the next level and figure out the production cost and the retail price. For the belt I don´t need so much materials, just a zipper, velvet ribbon and a elastic ribbon.  All this I found in my local textile store "Stoff og Stil". The materials I used cost $7.49. I made the belt in one an a half hour with a hour price at $10.38. The total production cost is $21.56. With the profit at 20% the price is $25.87. For the next step I asked my mother what she would buy the belt for. She said of course that she would purchase the belt for much more than what its worth (but that's probably just her being a loving mother). So I asked some people that I don't know so much. The average price that people would pay for the belt was around $28.00. So I decided to go with that price. Now I just need to get someone to buy the belt to see if this price is realistic.

Edgy uniform inspired look. Todays outfit was for an assignment for the Parsons X Teen Vogue program. 

The assignment was to create a personal look that represent my style. 

I feel like this look defines my style very good. The shirt is my own design, and it has some cool details on the back, but its not shown her in these pictures. The skirt is from h&m and is one of my favorite skirts. I use it almost everywhere I go, with everything. Frome killer heels to boots, or a preppy shirt to a party top. This skirt have so many different sides, eventough it just look like a regular, plain, black, skirt. 

But the truth is. It is just a skirt, but the different is not the skirt itself, but the person who wears it. If you wear you skirt with confident, the skirt will not just look like a skirt, it will look like an outfit.
