"Murder In the City" by The Avett Brothers
If I get murdered in the city
Don't go revenging in my name
One person dead from such is plenty
No need to go get locked away
When I leave your arms
The things I think of
No need to get over alarmed
I'm coming home
Three years after their successful self-titled debut, James Mercer of The Shins and Brian Burton AKA Danger Mouse join forces once again as Broken Bells, with their sophomore effort entitled After the Disco slated for a January 14 release next year. Here we have the delicious first single off that record, the Bee Gees-channeling “Holding On For Life”. I guess we’ll just have to make do with that until the rest of the album comes out.
Check out the song, the accompanying sci-fi short film and rest of the article @ ISOLATED NATION
New music genre from this week’s Comedy Bang Bang.
(One band added for good measure.)
Shallows by Daughter
"Still" by Daughter
From their latest album, "If You Leave". Perfectly sombre rainy-day songs.
"Entertainment" by Phoenix
Rejoice, Phoenix fans! Here's a taste of their upcoming album, "Bankrupt!", due out some time in April. It's typical Phoenix fare, but hey, I sure am not looking for anything different from them! Are you?
"World On Fire" by the Royal Concept
"Bad Blood" by Sleeping At Last
Here's a nice, sombre tune by almost always sombre Sleeping At Last to start/end the day.
Happy 2013, followers!
To make up for the lack of updates last year (I’ve been sloppy, I know) I come bearing gifts! This will be the second instalment of a mixtape/playlist-type thing from this blog (the first one can be found here). There are 15 tracks I’ve put together to help kickstart February for you. Enjoy and feel free to share it with your friends!

update: Apparently Mac users can’t download the file due some issues with Theme Park’s song, so I uploaded one without the track.
“Recover” by CHVRCHES
Scottish outfit Chvrches have released their latest electro-pop single, the title track of their upcoming EP Recover.
Recover will be released in the UK on March 25 via Virgin/Goodbye and in the US on March 26 via Glassnote.

"Wide Open (acoustic)" by Steve Moakler
"Magic Mile" by Cold War Kids
"Twin Cities" by Hungry Kids of Hungary
If you've never heard of them before, you're missing out. One of my favourite bands to come out of good ol' Australia (not Hungary, despite the logical assumption), Hungry Kids of Hungary are the epitome of bubbly, fun indie pop that you just can't help bobbing your head to. Here we have their most recent offering, "Twin Cities". Enjoy!

"For A Fool" by The Shins
Taken for a fool Yes I was, and I was a fool Following their rules Guess I was a very honest tune
"Always Alright" by Alabama Shakes
Landon Pigg & Mae Whitman - Tennessee Waltz (cover)
