It even makes totally sense that the AI, being trained on Shelley and others' works, thus taught to write like Shelley, will associate the original works with AI production.

The best episode of TV this year, hands down
On this NEW EPISODE of the world’s first podcast about “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (“Notre-Dame de Paris”), we discuss the opera “La Esmeralda” (1836), the only “Hunchback” adaptation that Victor Hugo himself participated in creating!
Composed by Louise Bertin, a young disabled woman, this controversial opera was only performed six times during its original run. Bertin was so traumatized by the backlash against it that she never composed another opera.
What’s to blame for the failure of “La Esmeralda”? Government censorship? Sexist critics? Audiences of hecklers, including “The Three Musketeers” author Alexandre Dumas?
Join us as we grapple with this nearly 200-year-old question!

For anyone wondering, the PhD student's name is Myra Cheng.
Here's a link to an article about the study from the Stanford Report: link.
Across three preregistered studies, participants interacting with sycophantic AI became more convinced of their own rightness and less willing to repair relationships. Yet at the same time, participants rated sycophantic AI models as higher quality, more trustworthy, and more desirable for future use, which may explain why this behavior has persisted despite its harmful impacts.
Myra Cheng et al. "Sycophantic AI decreases prosocial intentions and promotes dependence." Science 391, eaec8352 (2026).
what if every highschool and college student had a hot barista with them all the time who always agreed with them and did anything they asked and they could edit its memory and make it shut up at any time with no consequence
do you think thats like, good for peoples social skills
just a hypothetical im throwin out
its funny, this isnt even close to the real problem with AI, which is autonomous kill drone swarms, which exist, and also insane economic policy among globally dominant nations
but it does suck yknow.
the sycophancy and the autonomous kill drone swarms are making each other worse (in both the "less effective" and the "cost to human life" sense), since military decisions are now downstream of whatever parts of reddit peter thiel decided to throw into training data for targeting
I have such a fear of finding another like myself, and such a desire to find one! I am so utterly lonely, but I also have such a fear that my isolation be broken through, and I no longer be the head and ruler of my universe.
