So I’ve been thinking about the long-term of One Piece Live Action. Let's just say it retains its current level of popularity, where it's Netflix's #1 draw. They're not gonna let it end until it runs out of story. Which means 16 seasons minimum and counting. That means we need to prepare ourselves for some things:

The cast will age. Look, let's be honest here. It's fucking ridiculous that we're supposed to believe the events of the manga take place over less than a year's total active time (not counting timeskip), including travel time. So it's honestly more realistic that the live action characters are going to age over time. While I don't see that being as big of a problem for the menfolk, people are gonna get really rude about the women. Especially Emily Rudd, who is way older than she looks already. At some point she will start looking her actual age AND THAT IS FINE. YOU NEED TO BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS.

There will be bullshit. People disappoint you. It happens. Sure, they all seem wholesome rn, but with a cast this large, SOMEONE is gonna get involved in a big scandal. Hopefully it won't be the actor they've been hyping as the tentpole of the next 10 years (coughMarvelcough), but someone's gonna get caught doing something they shouldn't. That doesn't mean everything they were in is now Bad and should be Hated, it means that yeah, some stuff is gonna become uncomfortable in retrospect. And with an actor out, that brings me to...

They won't all make it. Older actors will die. Younger actors will move on. Someone will terrorize Hawaii in a drug-fueled rampage. This means that characters will have to be recast. Maybe even some of the core cast. Will they be the same? No. Of course not. Will they be GOOD? Probably! Like with Oda involved in casting, and casting mostly unknown actors from around the globe, the pool is large enough that I have no doubt they'll find someone as good as if not better than the original. If we're in this for the long haul, y'all need to keep an open mind about recasting.

All that said, since Netflix seems to be making it an annual thing (filming for season 3 wraps in June), I think we could actually get a full adaptation, as long as we are okay with the linear progression of time in regards to a long-running live-action series.
