I feel like the US - and fair enough - don’t quite get how present and clear the effect of the world wars is in Europe.

I feel like people really don’t understand the difference between a war some county is waging somewhere else and a war that happen right on top of you.

Any bit of grassland or field you dig in Europe or in my example Poland will yield you some ammo or a piece of a bomb within first 15 min of digging.

There was this American show about treasure hunters working with metal detectors that wanted to shoot an episode here looking for some meteorites. They gave in after the first day because the detectors kept wailing non stop. They found a lot of ammo and rusted out guns.

On my native part of the of the coast we occasionally get stuff washing up as a load of ammo etc was dumped at sea off Anglesey (the bit on the top left corner of Wales) and the currents just bring them up the coast.

Some kids brought some ammunition that they found on the beach in to our Rangers post/look out tower a few years back, one of the rangers rang the police and they’re just like cool drop in to the police station and we’ll put it in the cupboard for when the armed response guys turn up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again The Expanse is an amazing show definitely the best of the last decade and has such great representation.

My 3 favorite characters:

1. Chrisjen Avasarala, one of the most powerful people in the UN shes the best dressed most badass bitch the the entire solar system. She has just such a great presence on screen and is an amazing character, I cant describe all of her intricately formed plans and schemes all in defense of Earth and the Solar System.

2. Bobby Draper, also total badass gunnery sergeant Martian Marine Corps. While she isnt introduced until season 2 she quickly becomes a major player in the show and has great onscreen charisma she could crush you in a second and isnt afraid to let you know it her motivation starts out totally being just for Mars until the bigger picture unfolds and she realizes that bigger things are going on than the squabbling between the UN and the MCR.

3. Alex Kamal, pilot of the Roci. Hes also pretty badass but tbh less so than Bobbie and Chrisjen, hes also rather hot and my gay little brain is all for that, But he's a great character and an integral part of the show. Being Martian born his motivation lie more in that direction than the rest of the crew's especially as he still has family back on Mars he'd like to protect which can lead to disagreements about how to deal with some of the bigger threats as Mars is his main concern after making sure the crew is safe.

If you've read all this please I beg you go watch The Expanse it's such an amazing show with a great diverse cast and I really cannot reccomend it enough. It's all on amazon prime video as they now have the rights and are producing the new seasons including the just released season 4.
