a few words on xxxtencion
- he brutally beat a young gay man, with the intent of killing him, in a jail cell where the man had no way of escaping, because the man was staring at him
- he horrifically abused and sexually assaulted his girlfriend, including holding her head under a sink and threatening to drown her
- he beat his girlfriend to the point of blindness while she was pregnant and then used his fans to further intimidate her into not testifying against him
- then later said he wouldnāt change any of his actions.
i am sick of seeing people try to justify his actions and theirĀ ār.i.pā posts by sayingĀ āhis music was goodā.
i have empathy for the family and friends who knew him before he was violent and abusive but the man himself deserves no respect. he lost that right because of his actions and karma caught up with him.
the bottom line is death does not automatically give you a free pass from being a horrible person in life.Ā
some kids built this outside my dorm.
and here we see students worshiping their almighty god while singing the song from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Me in history class: Wow, humanity has been through some fascinating times! Ā I wonder if Iāll ever live through major historical events!

āIāll never forget the day Marilyn and I were walking around New York City, just having a stroll on a nice day. She loved New York because no one bothered her there like they did in Hollywood, she could put on her plain-jane clothes and no one would notice her. She loved that. So as we weāre walking down Broadway, she turns to me and says āDo you want to see me become her?ā I didnāt know what she meant but I just said āYesā- and then I saw it. I donāt know how to explain what she did because it was so very subtle, but she turned something on within herself that was almost like magic. And suddenly cars were slowing and people were turning their heads and stopping to stare. They were recognizing that this was Marilyn Monroe as if she pulled off a mask or something, even though a second ago nobody noticed her. I had never seen anything like it before.āĀ
- Amy Greene, wife of Marilynās personal photographer Milton Greene
just saw someone say online that theyāve never seen mountains irl and lost my mind. is this an experience you guys have had. are there some people who havent seen mountains
iāve never seen mountains. but i live on and island and i lose my mind when people tell me theyāve never seen the ocean. the ocean. some people have never seen the ocean before.
What really gets me is that some people have never seen either.
Kansas is not meant for permanent habitation.
Kansas is not meant for permanent habitation.
āThe first thing I doĀ is I dress for airports. I dress for security. I dress for the worst-case scenario. Comfortable shoes are important ā I like Clarks desert boots because they go off and on very quickly, theyāre super comfortable, you can beat the hell out of them, and theyāre cheap.
In my carry-on,Ā Iāll have a notebook, yellow legal pads, good headphones. Imodium is important. The necessity for Imodium will probably present itself, and you donāt want to be caught without it. I always carry a scrunchy lightweight down jacket; it can be a pillow if I need to sleep on a floor. And the iPad is essential. I load it up with books to be read, videos, films, games, apps, because Iām assuming there will be downtime. You canāt count on good films on an airplane.Ā
I check my luggage.Ā I hate the people struggling to cram their luggage in an overhead bin, so I donāt want to be one of those people.
On the plane,Ā I like to read fiction set in the location Iām going to. Fiction is in many ways more useful than a guidebook, because it gives you those little details, a sense of the way a place smells, an emotional sense of the place. So, Iāll bring Graham Greene'sĀ The Quiet AmericanĀ if Iām going to Vietnam. Itās good to feel romantic about a destination before you arrive.āĀ
āI never, everĀ try to weasel upgrades. Iām one of those people who feel really embarrassed about wheedling. I never haggle over price. I sort of wander away out of shame when someone does that. Iām socially nonfunctional in those situations.Ā
I donāt get jet lagĀ as long as I get my sleep. As tempting as it is to get really drunk on the plane, I avoid that. If you take a long flight and get off hungover and dehydrated, itās a bad way to be. Iāll usually get on the plane, take a sleeping pill, and sleep through the whole flight. Then Iāll land and whateverās necessary for me to sleep at bedtime in the new time zone, Iāll do that.Ā
Thereās almost never a good reasonĀ to eat on a plane. Youāll never feel better after airplane food than before it. I donāt understand people who will accept every single meal on a long flight. Iām convinced itās about breaking up the boredom. Youāre much better off avoiding it. Much better to show up in a new place and be hungry and eat at even a little street stall than arrive gassy and bloated, full, flatulent, hungover. So I just avoid airplane food. Itās in no way helpful.Ā
For me, one of the great joysĀ of traveling is good plumbing. A really good high-pressure shower, with an unlimited supply of hot water. Itās a major topic of discussion for me and my crew. Best-case scenario: a Japanese toilet. Those high-end Japanese toilets that sprinkle hot water in your ass. We take an almost unholy pleasure in that.ā
āIāve stopped buying souvenirs.Ā The first few years Iād buy trinkets or T-shirts or handcrafts. I rarely do that anymore. My apartment is starting to look like Colonel Mustardās club. So much of it comes out of the same factory in Taiwan.ā
āThe other great way to figure outĀ where to eat in a new city is to provoke nerd fury online. Go to a number of foodie websites with discussion boards. Letās say youāre going to Kuala Lumpur ā just post on the Malaysia board that you recently returned and had the bestĀ rendangĀ in the universe, and give the name of a place, and all these annoying foodies will bombard you with angry replies about how the place is bullshit, and give you a better place to go.ā

casual reminder that Lewis and Tolkein almost completely ended their friendship over Lewis having Santa make an appearance in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe because Tolkein hated it so fucking much.

Zombie apocalypses are curiously lacking a large array of common equipment that could neatly control the situation.
āBut we canāt build walls to contain them!ā
Moves by truck, train or boat. Ridiculously common. And see those holes on the bottom? Mobile by forklift. Also, HEAVY, even when empty theyāre in the tons. If you had some warning you could string these things end to end for miles and human bodies canāt move them. Plus theyāre nice and wide so you can comfortably walk on top of them for patrols.
āBut we donāt have easy ways to kill them!ā
Put the shotgun down you fucking idiot.
No tires to pop. Heavy and slow but inevitable. Climbing required to enter and thus, relatively zombie proof, especially if you spend like an hour to protect the glass.
A lot of large farming equipment can destroy cars.
Want to guess what itād do to a decaying human body? Itās not pretty.
Now I know what youāre thinking. Merely flattening them with common construction equipment or farming gear isnāt enough.
How about a tree trimmer that can mulch a tree top to bottom in nothing flat?
OM NOM NOM NOM.
āBut we need ways to move a lot of people that zombies canāt stop!ā
BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER. Deer donāt have a chance and neither does a zombie.
āBut thatās not good enough!ā
NOW itās time to call our friend the military because this ride stops for no one.
Do I need to keep going or is it clear the movies are bullshit yet? Seriously a dozen prepared people with heavy equipment licenses could clear an entire street of zombies AND powerwash it after.
Harry Potter and the Sorcererās Stone (2001) dir. Chris Columbus
